  1. Even for the pure cricket enthusiast like myself, test cricket can have it's boring, forgettable matches.

The 2005 Ashes didn't seem to have a boring session never mind day or test. International sport at it's very best, it had everything.

The 2019 WC final was as exciting as it gets but a few fortunate, lucky moments had us feeling a bit for the plucky losers. I'm a far bigger cricket fan than rugby but the 2003 win seemed incredibly important for England to get over the line, not just for rugby but all of British sport.

Growing up we'd get excited if Jeremy Bates or any Brit reached the second week of Wimbledon. Then Tim Henman came along and gave us hope but ultimately disappointment.

So the Andy Murray victory was an extremely special sporting moment.

So my personal favourite top 3 would be-

    The Ashes.

    Andy Murray

    Rugby world cup

  2. It’s been like it for years, I did mention it to someone, Beanhead I think, who said all EFL clubs would have the same, new format soon, so nobody was doing any updating atm. Or something like that. Guess it never happened!

Anyway, once Robbored says he doesn’t bother with it anymore it’ll just close down.

Isn't it them who do free away travel too, or they did until recently? Great value being a Stoke fan if you disregard the football😃

    Still do.

They’ve had a miserable time since relegation from the PL but as they did enjoy 10 years up there, an FA cup final and Europe, I won’t be feeling sorry for them any time soon.

  4. There’s a surprising amount of season card holders live outside Bristol, many of those live a good deal further away than I do.

A friend I’ve been going to games with for over 40 years lives in Manchester and the chap in the seat next to me lives in Serbia. Lots, like the OP live in London and the list goes on.

It’s a good effort by all but I don’t think any of us deserve anything extra, a free mental health check up maybe?

I'm up there for a long weekend. How does it affect trains when we are up there. I was hoping to go to Edinburgh on Friday or Sunday, not sure which operator that is? Also is the Metro likely to be affected? Anyone have any knowledge or info please?

There are a few operators use the Newcastle to Edinburgh route, all of them are effected by this but my guess is there’ll definitely be trains, some may not run meaning others may be busy though.

I don’t think the metro will be affected.

  6. Actually, good as he was I’d sub Webster as my England pick and make room for Andy Cole, maybe move Magnússon to defence and Cole for Agostino or Weimann.

Oh and Jan Moller for Basso

I think many people only renew because they enjoy the twice per month meet up up with mates, a couple of beers and a pie. I wonder if a large pub chain was able to show all home games with a yearly pass costing say £150 how many season ticket holders would take that option.

I reckon it’d be a busy pub. The concourse is pretty busy even when the game is going on.

  8. I really hope we do the same to Leicester, unlikely I know.

But another result like that in front of the cameras…..again, would probably be enough to see Manning through to next autumn.

And so begins another season of mid table battles, if we’re lucky, with a couple of season highs with wins over Burnley and Sheffield United.

would be great to have all four stands singing "There's only one Nigel Pearson!"

That’s close to what happened at Leicester earlier this season. A tremendous reception whilst stood out on the pitch with his crutches.

In hindsight his demise was probably already decided by then and seeing that applause and singing for him must have sat very uncomfortably with Jon and Brian.

This is our 40th season spent consecutively in tiers 2 and 3.

21 seasons in tier 2 and 19 in tier 3.

Doing maths in my head I couldn’t work out if we’d done 40 or about to complete our 40th.

I do know I’ve been there the whole way and it is some record. You can look at many other similar size clubs but just look at our neighbours over the bridge, both Cardiff and Swansea have had top flight football and Wembley cup finals and Swansea even Europe for winning their final.

Why can’t we ever have nice things?

Don't forget games being moved for the eggy chucking

Yes and games moved on police advice but we’ve had them for a while as we have Sky games, that’s why I suggested a limit.

This is a load of extra games that the club are getting money for which could tip some of us past the point of a Season ticket being worthwhile

  12. Maybe the club could make a deal with those fans with concerns over the new scheduling.

How about if a game is moved from Saturday 3 o’clock, you’ll be offered 4/5 times a season the chance to sell your ticket back to the club?

This is just nuts isn’t it!
my break even is about 17 games.
I will always miss a couple here or there (missed the last 2 due to the early kick offs), but I’m always willing to take a hit on missing a couple.
With this new schedule, I know for absolute fact that I’ll be missing more than a couple.
Night games are already a ballache to get to and I’m often 50/50 an hour before but end up going anyway.
With my break even at 17 games, and the fact Tinnion’s picture has made me sick and confused, this year I am seriously considering what I’m gonna do!

Membership and about 10 POTD games looks much more likely right now.

Yeah I bank on doing around 17 a season, fell short last season but on course to do 18 this. If it falls to around 13 I’m paying a lot for each game.

With this tv deal do we know if it’s just Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes that they’ll be changed to? For me that’s not ideal but not a disaster, however Friday and especially monday evenings wouldn’t be great at all.

Of course we do have to factor in our guaranteed seat, I love where I’m sat, the people, the view, the ease of getting out after the game. Plus I think every away day I’ve done this season has been sold out, so getting them is a nice bonus.

I won’t be popular for saying this but OAP discount is a completely outdated notion given the distribution of wealth by age group in the UK in 2024.

There are - of course - many who are not well off across all age groups, including pensioners. But a broadly applied discount based solely on age must be broadly applicable, and it simply isn’t any more. It would be fairer to distribute that reduction across all age groups, and introduce a loyalty discount increasing with each year which would recognise the long serving (suffering) nature of our oldest supporters.

I agree, even though I’m heading towards that stage of life at what seems a rapid rate.

It would be important to look after those olduns that are struggling financially though, of which I’m sure there’s loads in south Bristol alone.
