  1. Just saw this, below, from Abi Harrison on twitter. She's Bristol City WFC top scorer this season, and as you'll see it backs up what I said last year (above) about Pearson's influence on the WFC. Compare & contrast Pearson's involvement with the WFC, whilst managing the men's first team, with Mark Ashton's complete disregard for the WFC, and it's like chalk and cheese. We're heading in the right direction off-field under Nige.
  2. It's true that English players behave in this way now too. However, diving/play-acting is definitely a South American import to the European and English game.
  3. Taunton's winner for anyone interested. Lovely no-look pass, and then a nice left-footed finish.
  4. £10m gets his left testicle, now they just need to cough up another £20m for the rest of him.
  5. Yeah, that would be a good plan. Fury would either tag Usyk or tie him up with his ridiculously long arms, as he did with Whyte last night.
  6. Fury has always been a very good boxer but have to say SugarHill does seem to have taken him to another level. A lot less wastage in his work, and has definitely added some much needed power and timing to his shots. Fury of a few years ago v Wallin for example, lots of eye catching shots but you never thought he was in any danger of knocking him out. Even the first Wilder fight too. Currently I think we can say he is definitely the best Heavyweight of this era. There's only one fight left to properly cement that - AJ/Usyk. But as of now, he'd be a heavy favourite against either. Even with Usyk's brilliant footwork and movement, he'd struggle against the physicality of Fury I think. A good little one against a good big one and all that... AJ has the size and tools to beat him, but does he have the mindset?
  7. Yeah, I think I'd forgotten how bad Whyte is in terms of boxing ability. What was coming out southpaw all about too? Trying to be too clever.
  8. Not great this...Fury comfortably ahead. Atmosphere sounds terrible for 90,000+
  9. Yep. As I said previously it's a very south east centric league. Taunton are the furthest team west, before you get to Chippenham. So they'll be logistics issues for starters with games in Herts and then also at the likes of Ebbsfleet. That's obviously increased cost but also potentially overnight stays for part-time players. I'm not sure if any teams are considered fully pro at this level, but certainly you get teams like Dulwich who have adopted daytime training to become more professional. Taunton won't be able to adapt to anything like that I wouldn't have thought. So yeah, lots of challenges. I'm sure season one goal will be survival. An opportunity for City to send a loan player or two? Taunton and Bath have already benefitted from City loans over the years, so sure that'll happen.
  10. From what I've seen of Taunton they are a bit of a shithouse outfit. They don't really play through the phases, and certainly not out from the back, like say Weston do. I think it's fair to say their style is more "pragmatic", and direct. Whenever the ball got into a dangerous area v Yate a strong tackle was put in, or the ball was booted down the line. They clearly have a fair bit of quality in the final third though and have scored some great goals this season. Be fascinating to see how they get on next season in the Nat League. Hopefully they have a suitable level of investment to compete.
  11. Victory over Hull at AG next Saturday would confirm a 17th place finish, two better than last season's 19th.
  12. Taunton beat Farnborough 2-1 to win the league and confirm promotion to National League South - what an achievement. Just over 2,300 fans at Wordsworth Dr today! Crazy form in second half of the season.
  13. You mean Fury's love-handles ? Apparently he deliberately doesn't work on them as he feels it helps him take body shots... not sure the science would support that, but sometimes it's just whatever makes the boxer feel most comfortable, I guess.
  14. It's been a strange one for sure. I don't think PPV sales will be as great as Frank thinks either. I mean fair play to the respect between the boxers, but the weigh-in yesterday was just one big love-in! No edge or animosity whatsoever. The two of them were dancing around on the stage together at the end. I'm half expecting them to get in the ring tomorrow and just do some MC-ing, instead of fighting. Fury definitely worthy of his status as a heavy favourite, and looks in good shape. Whyte seems a bit in awe of him, has he got the belief that he can be heavyweight champion of the world? Clearly he's got to find a way to connect with that left hook of his, probably work Fury to the body first, before trying to get in behind the Fury jab and connect to the head. He has the power for sure. Gut instinct is a Fury stoppage rounds 8-10, but as ever with the heavyweights, who know...
  15. You can get a preview of him now on BT Sport. A typically bonkers Bristol game...5 tries inside the first half hour...
  16. Seeing them at today's presser, I didn't realise how pally Fury and Whyte were... Cacace fight (main support?) has now been cancelled. Not sure why, but Cacace understandably devastated. At 33, he's unlikely to get another opportunity like that.
  17. I actually went to Yate v Kings Langley on Saturday and Yate did play well, scored a couple of cracking goals too. Amusing watching alongside a 30-strong stag do from Ireland. Can't make Taunton on Saturday, which is a gutter, but hopefully they get the job done ?
  18. Only been once a few years back but I can still remember how good the massaman gae (lamb) was, faultless. It was a dry restaurant when I went, not sure if that's still the case. Visited Box-E recently, which lived up to the hype. Sat inside right by the kitchen watching chef Elliott work. He's former head chef at a Michelin star restaurant in London. Everything from the homemade bread and salt and seaweed butter they bring out (on the house), to my guinea fowl and borlotti beans main, to the pannacotta dessert (many say the best pannacotta in Bristol, and whilst I can't say for sure, if there's a better one then it must be pretty damn good) was excellent. Some limecello (note, made with limes not lemon) to finish off a memorable meal. Would go back in a heartbeat.
  19. Broner is a vile bloke, don't want to see him get a pay day. Did I hear that right, Brook wants £10m to fight Benn??! Benn needs to get in with a top 10er next. Yeah, he's vulnerable, but the ko ability is gonna make him exciting to watch.
  20. Fooking hell, this is lively 'n' all.
  21. Cor, McCarthy took some heavy shots there. Good fight.
  22. Bit rich from Barca ultras who don't bother turning up for most La Liga games. They didn't care about the Europa League until they got to the knock out stages and now they cry when a club that they knew weeks in advance were bringing 30k take over their stadium. I went to Camp Nou in 2018 for a La Liga match and was surrounded by football tourists. Very disappointing experience tbh. Look at the atmosphere at Atleti the other night, proper club.
  23. In fairness to Ricky, they weren't just your average world class fighters. They were both Hall of Famers.... no shame in losing to either, and I maintain Cortez reffed that Mayweather bout disgracefully.
