  1. Anyone else got the feeling Boris is only sending a letter out so he can use it politically later about making sure everyone had been personally contacted and kept informed etc while its going to cost £5.8m for something that would just as easily been told by doing it at a press conference.
  2. Thought I read Juve players were foregoing wages for 4 months saving the club 89m
  3. Hadn't realised GM had sold it, Trump even tweeted about the deal at the time with regards to the rest of GM's places of operation though Trump can enact the DPA and force them to
  4. It'll be stuff like no restrictions on going out of the house but still maintaining distance from each other, those where possible returning to work with some restrictions etc In the mean time this just smells of our govt not wanting EU help showing Britain can do it alone given a minister was talking about the scheme last week A number of companies have been asked to make ventilators in the UK but it is unclear when they will be ready. The government has also said a mix-up meant it missed the deadline to join an EU scheme to obtain extra ventilators.
  5. As far as I've seen no one is talking about playing before its safe to do so, pretty sure its already been said (can't remember if it was the FA or PL) that the English leagues won't be sticking to the proposed deadline of June 30th. You create more problems than you solve by null and voiding the season, how can another season start when you're likely to get lawsuits from clubs if it is? How do you determine (fairly) who plays in which European competitions if they're held? If it has to become a 19/20/21 season then so be it but the current season should be finished and then the next season adjusted to the fairest way possible.
  6. Can only hope the Chinese govt doesn't try and hide anything which happens there now to give an impression that everything is fine. What happens in Wuhan (stays in Wuhan....sorry) will be used a guide for other places which entered lockdown shortly after.
  7. For anyone staying in the same country it probably wouldn't be an issue to extend, more thinking about players moving abroad etc
  8. The only issue would be how can you force players to stay beyond their agreed contract length? Hypothetically if the league didn't restart until November it would be 2 months at least to completion so you're talking about forcing someone to stay 6 months longer than they signed for. I'd say teams just have to play with the squad at their disposal, if a player wants to sign an extension to the end of the season they can, but you can't force someone to stay, the incentive would be saying they can't sign to play for another club until the season is completed.
  9. In the grand scheme of things of course it is, but those in power still need to discuss situations of what is going to/could happen. This naturally creates discussion amongst fans, to be honest seeing the news almost all the time you're awake at the moment over different platforms its nice to be able to talk about something else given the main subject at hand can be disheartening to read constantly.
  10. If you're not starting until Autumn at the earliest then there's really no guarantee of fitting a full season in for 20/21, may as well finish 19/20 and the alter the rules of 20/21 and only play each team once for example, avoids many sticky legal situations.
  11. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52049672 Huddersfield now need to repay £35m in loans to former owner now as well
  12. Anyone good with photoshop? I hope all the cabinet know how to use Zoom
  13. Given who his deputy is this way is probably better...
  14. Its a round in Fighting Talk
  15. Hard to do so when you don't know when you'll be asked to restart as it needs a minimum of 6 weeks, if the FA keeps delaying any restart by 4/5 weeks then you can't be sure the pitch will be ready. One club (pretty sure it was a premier league club) has re-laid theirs in this break but they were on it straight away.
  16. I was ambivalent when first announced but grown on me since then
  17. Pretty sure we won't be getting 46 league games, and definitely not 46 with matchday income, think next season (IF it starts normal time in August) would start behind closed doors anyway. I say we won't be getting 46 league games because some sports are starting to call off events in July where there is minimal contact with others, there you're just about into pre-season, any sort of push back and the start of pre-season gets pushed back. You'll need a full pre-season if 19/20 is null and void as players won't have played a game of football in over 4 months.
  18. I think the point would be football would only restart after the peak and when cases are back down to an easily manageable level for the NHS anyway, so more than likely you would have medical workers available at games. The thing for me is people seem to be people acting as if we're guaranteed to get a full 2020/21 season (even if you take out all cups) when that's very far from a guarantee. For me it would be a case of finish this season, then 20/21 you only play each team once and its pot luck if it's home or away, just a guarantee you either play 12 or 11 games at home. You can change the rules for 20/21 but 19/20 needs to be finished otherwise its a legal nightmare. Champions league for example if you null and void who goes in? Same teams as before? But Man City were there so who takes their place whether an English team or not it would be a nightmare.
  19. Don't think we'll be getting a full 20/21 season anyway, they've already named the date for the euros again so any season will need to be fitted into the period between from whenever we can restart and leave a gap before the tournament.
  20. Something worrying, the political editor for news night saying the govt are changing the way they are releasing death figures and may not be deaths in the last 24 hours, which he claims is due to needing family consent, however you don't need consent to be a part of annonymised data as that's the point of it. Feels like the govt are manipulating figures.
  21. Perhaps waiting on The Killers to see if they're cancelling or postponing their tour? If postponing to following year they may try and keep all the same bookings and say tickets still valid, cancel if you can't make it
