  1. Pearson wasn't sacked for performance though regardless what was said in public
  2. All of who were either fighting for staying away from the drop zone or in Sunderland's case trying to cling to the play offs, at this point play offs aren't an option for us and its very difficult to think we'll go down so what's the real benefit of sacking him atm rather than giving him some more time?
  3. Not sure Bashir has the control for test matches on English pitches yet, best thing for him probably would be getting him to play every game for Somerset and develop if they're serious about him as a serious test player for the next decade. At home Dawson would probably be available who'd offer more in the here and now.
  4. And to think we found out spinner from tiktok
  5. Great effort from Ross to have got himself back 2 months ahead of schedule, how many players would have taken it easy at the rate their club were saying was advisable. Equally, they've taken some knocks on here and elsewhere from time to time but huge credit to our physio/medical department those who are here now and those who departed to even help Ross save his career
  6. Well on the basis Conway doesn't fit Manning's style of play one who does would have been a benefit whether that have been Moore or someone else
  7. You’re in full on data scientist levels there, with the tens upon tens of thousands quids worth of data you then needs someone capable of creating voronoi polygons and evaluating special control then building models to evaluate it
  8. So if anything Nigel inherited even more options, whether or not he chose to use them, Manning's had to have benches full of academy players too at the start. Conway/Scott discussed above, they were in the building and training regularly with the first team whether they'd made their debuts or not, that was down to Holden choosing not to play them.
  9. Scott was more then ready for Championship and showed almost straight away, he wasn't the key player he became sure, but he was definitely a squad player. Conway came in and had an almost immediate impact, again not as a starter or key player but remember him also having a couple of disallowed goals and positive performances.
  10. So you can take all of the players out who were injured when Manning arrived as well then in that case, the statement was based on squad when the manager took over, Mawson, Baker, Dasilva & Weimann were all squad members when Pearson took over, he inherited them as players, the original post claimed Manning has inherited better players.
  11. I'd say it was as that's the way the statement was phrased, it wasn't 'the best state the club has been in' or anything it was purely a statement claiming Manning has inherited the best squad of players, which I don't think it is, the squad as a collective was better when Nigel arrived, now that obviously has the factor as you mention that the squad would have cost more and a discussion of the best value for money squad could be a different answer, but I responded to the statement that was given.
  12. Pearson wasn't sacked for results, it was all BS though and cover for the reason they did sack him. He was off at the end of the season anyway as we were never going to offer him a new deal. This shouldn't be projected onto Manning as 'we never should have got rid of Pearson'. This has got all the feelings of how Johnson was criticised early for the 'Cotts should never have been sacked' sort of thing.
  13. Goalkeepers NP: Bentley, O'Leary LM: O'Leary, Bajic RB NP: Hunt, Sessegnon LM: McCrorie, Tanner CB NP: Kalas, Mawson, Baker, Vyner LM: Vyner, Dickie, Naismith, Atkinson LB NP: Dasilva, Pring LM: Pring, Roberts CM NP: Massengo, Nagy, Scott, Williams, Brunt, Walsh LM: James, Knight, Williams, TGH, King Wingers: NP: Paterson, O'Dowda, Eliasson, Weimann LM: Bell, Sykes, Mehmeti AM: NP: Palmer LM: (Knight being pushed into here) ST: NP: Wells, Diedhiou, Conway LM: Wells, Conway, Cornick I think the only positions I'd take Manning's players would be RB & CM otherwise I'd take the options Pearson inherited. I'd say now our squad looks better rounded but I think there was better quality in the squad Pearson inherited.
  14. Absolutely ****ing pathetic post The 'we have a squad capable of competing' comment was justification for getting rid of Pearson when they did otherwise they didn't have it Its definitely not the best squad inherited, if its the fittest because we've decided to go out and sign athletes which any manager previously could have done, but this is a general trend in English top couple of divisions anyway so we'd have been left behind if we didn't do it. We've given Manning little by way to change the squad/invest, in January he's been given a Murphy who isn't ready for first team, 2 signings who've been loaned straight back out in Bird & Stokes. So only Twine & Mebude as loanees who could potentially influence the first team now. Are there games we should have won that we've lost? Sure, but anyone is deluded if they think this squad SHOULD be in the top 6 or even just outside. Its a top 10 squad at best and everyone on here knows Pearson was doing a fine job and frankly Manning has us around where we should be. Pearson offered us our first bit of stability in ages, we can't go back to 20 games without play off form means the sack.
  15. You’d think… but no, kit manufacturer just gives you the standard socks. You then get the players who cut the whole of the sole off so it’s effectively a tube so they just have a normal pair of socks on their feet in the boot itself, designed so less material and more feel in the boot, normal sock over football sock as usually it’s a comfier material
  16. Sounds like poor delivery on the part of the coaching staff for that. Also referring to level of intensity to maintain the level teams will have days where they want to work the group hard and therefore need activities which involves certain types of running, long distance sprints or close quarters enclosed and intense. It was referred to earlier but pre-season is where the majority of tactical work is done and then tweaked through the season. Manning would have been able to do little bits and pieces but not really a block of it like you'd have in pre-season for understanding to become natural.
  17. He's referring to not enough sessions where it has to be based around recovery or working on specific tactical elements for the next match, while also factoring the level/intensity of training so the players are physically in the right condition for the next game
  18. NP had to play academy players or at least have them on the bench due to a combination of injuries & a lack of investment in recruiting players. what do people on here want from Manning, try and finish the season in as high a position as possible or to blood young players? If he played young players at the expense of results people would moan. Can’t have it both ways as a fan base, either people want Manning to do his best to deliver results and accept less mins for young players or give him a break on results if it means young players getting game time.

    Twine

    Yes its normal
  20. Cook admissions about Essex, spirit of the game…..?
  21. Because they wanted to, it is pretty irrelevant as the club can’t do anything about it…. Except of course actually telling fans in a timely manner that it would be a 12:30 kick off
  22. Team whose losing will naturally have more of the ball unless they’re playing someone like Man City who can cope with the pressure on the ball a team whose losing will put on it
  23. If they’re blaming the pitch then they’re as deluded as the guy on talk sport, Ashton Gate’s pitch is fine and better then a lot in the championship
  24. Or he’s had to try and keep his right foot planted and reach because the pass was behind him, if you watch his feet as he moves
  25. Not a fan of Twine off the wing, however you could tuck him into a number 10 type role there and have Pring push on and build up with a back 3
