  1. Nah, Ashley Fletcher is really talented but totally unfulfilled potential. You could see him finding a club where he settles one day and having 2 or 3 really good seasons. Lewis O'Brien is class but he will be going somewhere a bit fancier than us, surely. Same with Mowatt? Could he not get a prem move on a free? Or at worst a relegated team would pick him up. Scott Twine looks like a player and realistic. And Joe Rothwell too (didnt realise he was as old as 26). Jed Wallace - LJ loves him, no? Sunderland will 100% go for him if promoted. Always looks good when he plays us. Fo
  2. You could argue some of those early season performance that look like they will keep us in league were driven by TB. We've seen what he can do. Surely better to get that out of him than throw him on scrap heap. And tough for inexperienced players to thrive given what is going on around them at the minute.
  3. Pretty harsh on Vyner, O'leary, Semenyo, Dasilva, Martin, Williams...
  4. I think these are a given. The number of times we turn over the ball in the right back position is unreal. Everyone would rather see HNM used than HL (I assume). And for all his games where he shows up, there are just too many now where Fam doesn't. I hope we keep Baker and Walsh. Im not sure we will though. Appreciate the issues with Baker but when he is in the team and firing, we are a different proposition. At least Pearson has some time to actually coach them this week. And you'd assume hes just learned a lot about the players. But that was depressing.
  5. Yeah, look, this definitely isn’t a thread to debate coronavirus or lockdown. You have your opinions but, just from your initial post, they are based on error. I’ll give you one example - you said the virus hasn’t been isolated. That’s just factually incorrect and really easily disproven. But that ‘fact’ is out there (usually attached to some nonsense about failing Koch Postulates) on the internet and is then used to attack other things like virus sequencing and the efficacy of testing. The virus has been isolated many, many times. Any argument that tells you it hasn’t is wrong. That’s f
  6. In last few years, tactical and personnel changes have sometimes felt a bit 'may as well try this'. This one felt a lot more considered and purposeful. (and, we ended up winning... which helps). Postive signs. NP does feel like a really good fit for this club at this time. Hope everyone on here remembers the good vibes when the inevitable difficult spell hits.
  7. Wilson was a big appointment but made prior to Lansdown. And in four years we acheived nothing apart from play off misery. Obviously Coppell was a big appointment. Regardless of how it went. And SoD was pretty well received too. Cotterill was not a popular appointment at all and look how that turned out. It's not easy. But tough to argue that Pearson isn't pretty much as good as we could hope to do. (Doesn't mean it will work out but you don't appoint manager in retrospect).
  8. I’m definitely not talking about anyone in particular. But I’ve seen a lot on here and on radio say they feel sorry for Dean for being put in that position. (Which is different from just saying ‘he shouldn’t have been put in that position’ - that is just saying ‘he shouldn’t have got job’). Maybe it’s a personal thing but if that was me, losing my job would sting less than the fact people felt sorry for me for getting that job in first place.
  9. Yeah - was a really good interview. He came across really well and as very thoughtful. To the original point, I hate the D&D tag and hope people using it maybe think about it a bit more (and then stop).
  10. I take the point and I know a lot of fans feel the same but I said on another thread that I don’t agree it’s as simple as players turning it off and on. Firstly, Dean never played that team. Kalas on left, marriapa middle, midfield three that complement each other, wells actually as striker in effective front two. So you have to accept that tactics and player selection matter or you say they don’t and it’s all down to players wanting to turn it in and off. But secondly, confidence in football is obviously a complex thing. We saw that in second half with a bit of reversion t
  11. This isn't a team that Holden put on pitch though. So there is that. And confidence clearly plays part. I dont buy the idea players have somehow betrayed Holden. Its much more complicated than that
  12. Yeah, I agree with this. Might not be instant so we might have to be a bit patient. But we know he is a really good striker if he is actually given chance to be in and around opposition penalty area for whole game. So Im hoping NP puts him up there and gives him a bit of time to find form (which could be a frustrating few games - but maybe not). Starting point with Nakhi is we know he is not s**t so its (in part) down to the management to help him produce like he should be able to. He's never been given a proper chance here. Im hopeful.
  13. I thought he was good for us. Right time to go but we progressed under him. I understand your view of his time here and Im definitely not going to argue with it (that discussion has been had to death). But I think LJ might be the sort of person to learn from past mistakes and think he might end up a decent manager beyond League One. Anyway - not the time or place for that chat and happy to agree to disagree.
  14. Some of our players must have pass completion rates under 50% in that game. Ive mentioned it before and I hate singling out a player after a team performance that bad, but the number of times we turn over possession when Hunt has the ball is astounding. I thought Kalas and KP had a bit of drive; Bakinson tried when he came on but is really imprecise. Antoine has promise but, again, so imprecise in some really basic things. Everyone else in outfield for us looked like going through the motions and took to field already beaten. You might be right about it being one of worst ever - I r
  15. In fairness to Barnsley they are pretty decent at the moment. But I agree this is a total shower from us.
  16. As if either of those would be worse than this. I would absolutely take either.
  17. Yeah - I don't mind that team but Moore always looks so uncomfortable on left of three. Think Semenyo might be pushed a bit further forward than usual alongside Fam.
  18. Good post. Think this is exactly right.
  19. Think maybe read what I wrote about coppell. Not sure you’ve read it right. But we can leave it there if you like.
