Not much success??? A lot of us can remember top tier football at Ashton Gate, and for a few seasons we more than held our own. Something a lot of our fans nowadays are unlikely ever to see in their lifetime. (Think about that) Seeing Bristol City play and beat a full strength Man Utd team home and away, winning away at Arsenal in our first game in the top flight.. beating Liverpool, beating Spurs and sending them down I could go on. Now we have Manningball and we’re all supposed to be glasses half full even though we all know our glasses are bone dry.

Blimey mate. We haven't played a game of top flight football since the time of the St Pauls riots, and if you mentioned those to anyone under 50, they probably wouldn't have a clue what you were on about..!!

I am aware that you cant always take a lot from pre-season friendlies, we have seen many times in the prem, a team pre-season looks outstanding scoring for fun then when the season starts they are awful, so i get that point.

However, in our situation i am really hoping we make the most of pre-season friendlies and take on some real quality teams, maybe quite out of our comfort zone.

The reason for this is because i still don't think Manning has got to grips with different styles of play at this level, having a decent Plan B, and how to approach different style teams, i think the friendlies could be really valuable in getting some great experience and maybe test a few things.

Basically i don't want to see pre-season friendlies with the likes of forest green rovers or standard liege, I would like to see Manning make real use of the opportunity to fine tune his tactics against decent opposition with quality players.

I guess there is also a balance of you don't want to get battered pre-season and go into the season de-motivated.

Not sure if people agree, or how they see pre-season friendlies?

I'll be keeping a close eye on the friendlies. If we give someone a bit of a turning over in one of them, we'll probably end up with their manager in a few months time...

Be handy if it said where they were performing so people could find them - On the pitch? Outside? In the concourse?!

They should have them outside , keep the bars open and start about 10 minutes before the end. Give those leaving early something to listen too.

Agree , they should stay on the pitch and just thank the crowd quickly . Going off for 10/15 minutes then doing a slow walk around is ridiculous .

    Playing in the fan village...

This may sound a little harsh but I think it’s time we left the Wurzels in the 70s. We need a new anthem, kids of today aren’t going to belt this music out.

I know I will be in the minority here.

You have a point. However, to fans of a certain age, they are always an attraction, and some of the younger lads who come with us (my son and his mates) like them. It will all come to a natural close when Pete and Tommy are no longer with us. They just won't be the same without those two.

That said, if the weather is like it is today, I'll not be standing around in a car park for an hour..!!

Liams first press conference at Oxford: “You look to academies first, why wouldn’t you”

    Liams first press conference here:

I understand the importance of players to see the pathway, and the most rewarding thing for academy staff is where you see someone make a debut. But also from a pure business perspective you invest huge sums in the academy, why wouldn’t you look there first? That doesn’t mean you take everyone from there but it’s the first place you look…..we’ll definitely look there first then go external after that”

Just leaving those here. And guess how many he brought through at Oxford.

I went of what the com said.

Tell Mr Lansdown to let you into the match, that’s the least a club employee should expect.

You can tell him to SUFO as well if you like.

You’re the person who tried desperately to get a role in the club only to get knocked back - that’s when you started slagging off Tinnion and the club. Very transparent and now your main hobby is slagging off Ian Gay because he gets the info you licked desperately for only to get knocked back.

@Davefevs have you “licked” desperately? Treat your woman with respect man…

    Fair enough.

How often are you going to post saying this?

I didn’t want Pearson sacked & definitely don’t think Manning is the second coming, but he certainly deserves a summer to bring in a couple of his own players.

I really respect your opinion mate, you’ve been going to Ashton Gate and posting on here longer than most. But , for me, this is crisis time. Giving Manning a summer window with Tinnion calling the shots spells disaster.

Without wanting to rake over old ground, we’ve got 3 or 4 blokes running the club, with no experience, or any kind of track record that says we’re going to improve on what we’re seeing now.

I said in the week, we always put in a 5 star performance when the season is over and done, today, up against a team fighting for their future, we came up short again.

I look at the players we brought in in January and square that against the players likely to leave, and I only see a struggle next season.

So….why the MASS exodus of fans (a) when Huddersfield scored (b) on 85 mins?? I hate it when fans leave early at the best of times but that was embarrassing today. We have been on a good run of late and I know things are petering out to another season of mid-tableness but hey…fair enough if we’re losing 3-0 or similar! I’d like to know how many City fans saw Nahki’s penalty scored as we fought regardless of performance to get on level terms.

I didn’t see it. I’ll catch it later on the highlights show. I don’t give a **** that people will criticise me for leaving early, I’ve got half a decade in and know when we’re not going to win. Shit game, shit performance, shit manager, led by a shit hierarchy.

A great win tonight, 4 clean sheets in a row. Attackers finally looking deadly, defence looks sharp, O’Leary unbeatable. Whilst it’s great to watch you can’t help but feel a bit frustrated we couldn’t be like this 10-15 games ago. So is it actually a sign things have changed, manning has got a grip on things and his way of playing has finally clicked… or is it because the pressure is off, the seasons done, sunglasses and sun tan lotion are already packed and the lads are just playing with a bit of freedom. I’m praying it’s the former and this can roll in to next season. About time we’ve had something to be excited about. If they can keep this up for the remaining 4 games and have a solid transfer window, they might just get the feel good factor they desperately need from the fans as we are certainly a better club when united.

We do this most seasons. Pressure is off and we go and spank someone. I’m not getting carried away this year though. Next season will be a struggle in my opinion.

  11. Again, I said in the pub pre match, Max is a top, top keeper. Kudos to Nige for seeing he was a better, and cheaper bet than Bentley.

Best keeper we’ve had in a long while for me.

I struggle to believe that the club has no idea of how many season tickets we've sold.

They know, that's why those of us who still haven't renewed are being bombarded with emails.

When we the last time Conway looked a threat. Where has his pace gone? Where has his aggression gone.

Head is probably more with his mate in Bournemouth but he is not in the same league.

Looks pretty obvious he's off in the summer. If we know, I've no idea why he keeps starting games.
