  1. Bizarre. I know time goes by quickly these days but have I missed Xmas and it’s April Fools Day already? A meal up in the executive boxes might be an experience for people who never get to go to that area, but a picnic table on a football pitch is not one I’ll be booking on Valentines Day.
  2. About 2 weeks ago- and I got the job! It’s a top secret site near Reading, they told me I’m going to be the Chief of Underground Nuclear Testing - at least that what I think it stood for . Can’t help being old school at my age
  3. I don’t think it was lies or contempt, it was about the original aspirations of the board, the timing of the appointment and the ever dire financial constraints the World finds itself in post COVID Unless you already have a replacement ready to go (i.e. without waiting to see who else might be available / interested) you have to go through a thorough process to get the best person for the job, as follows:- Wk 1 - sack current coach, advertise in appropriate places, wait for applications to flood in from across the World. Tell the fans we have amazing applicants to take us to
  4. You’ve seemed to have conveniently forgotten you might actually get old one day yourself . When / if you get to three score years and ten and suffered as much as we have whilst watching City all these years I hope you have the decency to come on here (or the VR version of it) and apologise to us all before we come back and haunt you .
  5. For richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health - applies to being a football supporter as well! If you still like football I suggest you latch onto a ‘successful’ Premiership team ASAP - to which you have no real association with - other than want to look like someone who wants to be considered fashionable, successful and smart like the team you’ll follow. Once you’ve done that we’ll all be entitled to call you a plastic fan like thousands of others that also go down the same route. Byeeeeee.
  6. They had to talk about promotion and success to tempt good people to apply for the job. Reality kicked in - refer to biggest recession and rise in unemployment in the media, and they quickly realised (or always knew) we would simply not have the funds to do what they would like to do so they had to rein in back in. Disappointment and frustration for everyone but hopefully the club will survive without needing yet another injection of cash from SL or us breaking our piggy banks open.
  7. Our billionaire runs many successful businesses and provides the profit from them to those he employs at the club to get the results he - and all of us, dream of. He doesn’t need to have a football brain, only a business brain to provide the funds.
  8. Identity......................... please fill in the detail as required as I’m not sure I’ll provide the correct one despite watching City since the 60’s.
  9. Thanks for asking, here’s the link https://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/subscriptions/
  10. I suspect everyone is waiting for everyone else to make a start on transfers either in or out to see where the bench mark is going to be them both. The relegated teams with the parachute payments should be made to cough up first as they’ve probably got the most dosh?
  11. It was a dig at those who want to buy the club yet aren’t prepared to help out on the running costs of this forum by paying a fiver or so each year...
  12. For the ‘majority’ of fans who have been ranting on here for the last few weeks and obviously think they could run it better, I’m interested to know how much you are prepared to chip in to buy a share? I’m even more interested why most of you don’t even bother to contribute to the running of this - normally - excellent forum which allows you to vent your anger? The least you all should do to show how passionate you are about ‘your’ club, without giving a few more pennies towards our financially astute major shareholder, is to cough up now to help fund the running of this forum
  13. When certain posters on here think the entire fan base is anti MA / SL / JL and any other ‘ suits’ (why not, do you really think they’re going to negotiate multi million deals in flip flops, shorts and string vest ??), before they assume that they need to consider how many views the post has had and how many comments it’s received. There’s probably over 25k fans out there who care enough to call it ‘their’ club - but the reality is most of them don’t agree with most of the ridiculous comments on here some people have posted hence the disparity of views v comments. Everyone is e
  14. All the ‘passionate’ fans I.e. those with testosterone still pumping through their veins as opposed to hot chocolate like us oldies, seem to still think SL / MA didn’t want or try to get the big names on board. BUT, as people have tried to explain on other threads, after all the ‘promises’ by SL to take us to the next level and with the COVID situation overriding everything else that sadly did not happen or become apparent until maybe 3 weeks in? Those reasons were probably the unpalatable reality of the financial Armagodden facing sport in general. From that point on was wha
  15. It’s a Press conference, do you really think you’d be allowed in without. Press Association pass??
  16. Have you proof he wanted the job - when he was given the terms and conditions? I’ve gone for plenty of interesting jobs, with salary to be negotiated, assuming the rewards would be as I’d like to think it would be for the job only to be offered something below my expectations, so I told them thanks but no thanks. As per other threads, it’s a changed world we’re now living in so unfortunately not just CH will have to get used to the idea of what’s now on offer but so will plenty of us plebs.
  17. It certainly is a two way thing and until other teams need to recruit a new manager / coach only then will the applicants finally realise its now a very different situation to salaries and budgets than pre COVID. We just happen to be one of the first clubs to go through this process and the reality of the situation has not yet sunk in.
  18. I suspect the original intent was of an experienced and proven manager but they failed to mention in the original advert for the job it would be a very limited transfer budget etc due to Covid. After 4 weeks of interviews and getting a ‘no thanks’ from each applicant on the list they changed to Plan B which is what we’ve got with this dream team?
  19. Good, because football is a billion pound business so we should be thankful we’ve got one of the best. Hopefully he keeps away from team talks and tactics but I’ve no issue with him addressing players in a ‘man management’ style to encourage the best out of the clubs valuable assets.
  20. At last, the penny is finally beginning to sink in for some of you . I’ve suggested this issue as the cause of the delay on a number of threads but it seemed to get overlooked by many. Glad you’ve given it its own thread as it might just make a few more to accept and calm down a bit.
  21. They did say that at the start and if they could wave a magic wand to make it happen they do that as well. For reasons unknown to us all that simply hasn’t happened so they’ve got to find the next best solution which obviously isn’t very palatable. If people who were interviewed, asked to take the job but didn’t want to come on the terms offered other than change those terms / conditions - which in the current climate is very risky, they simply won’t do it hence why where we are today.
  22. You could all have a day out in Guernsey, find a statue of SL and throw it in the harbour at St Peter Port?
  23. The best man or woman etc is the obvious way forward - but that person is only identified by the opinions of those interviewing the candidates, and unfortunately that’s no one on this forum. As much as we all want the best for the club the interview criteria is not just who the person is or what they’ve achieved, it’s everything else that goes with it like budget, personal terms and the staff they’d like to bring with them - and again no one on here has any evidence they can provide to use to prove otherwise. This is not FIFA 20 or whatever games people like to play when being a pre
  24. I assume you’ve got actual evidence of all this you’d like to share with us - or maybe just another guess / rumour to have a pop at someone who has always tried to ensure the club is ran correctly and hopefully increase his hard earned investment by the potential success of the club on the field as well as off it.
  25. You assume they like YES men because it suits your opinion, in reality they’re businessmen and they like MONEY - which comes from success, just not at all costs risking the progress we’ve made in the last 10 years or so We always were just punters even back in the ‘60s when I first went AG, and it was the working class in the standing areas and business men (suits..) in the best seats in the ground. They do consider fans opinions but they are the ones with the power and the responsibility to take us forward in the way they think is best for everyone - not just to suit a few classl
