It’ll be funny if Robin has a Rod Hull Emu’ moment on Colin….
  2. Most people swear, but when kids or women (..) are present they’ll rein it in a bit. The problem is when people behave as in the above comment - to make a point or show their annoyed at a decision etc and it becomes the norm in their everyday life, and for their household (i.e. their kids) - how can that next generation make their anger shown without doing something even more anti-social, as the swearing they’ve done all their lives is now just ‘normal’ for them? Thats why society has unwritten boundaries which most people have the moral compass to abide by without being asked to.
  3. We won’t ‘need’ to sell but I’d the players agent stokes up some discontent and promises bigger rewards elsewhere sadly they’ll be off. At the end of the day they are competitive sportsmen who want to have the chance to compete against the best, even if it fails they’ll be compensated with a big wedge. Hopefully Nige and the team can persuade them to stay for another season..??
  4. A contender for MoTM for me ?
  5. It’s for the greater good of residents in both Somerset (some of them may actually travel into Bristol to work?) and Bristol, so you’d like to think politicians could try to work together for the benefit of all ratepayers.
  6. Maybe that could be Marv’s final (only one actually delivered?) legacy for the city of Bristol?
  7. Didn’t Bristol lose its county status during the time the county of Avon was created and then got it reinstated after that fiasco ended?
  8. I suspect Man City may have glimpsed him on EFL highlights - or possibly have one or two scouts who attend games?
  9. It’s not just in the pitch…it’s on here as well - are we now in a parallel universe to where we were in 2022?
  10. I’m surprised the Ostrich isn’t on that list? Virtually next door is the Golden Guinea which has a really good vibe, probably better suited to warmer days as it’s quite small inside unless they open up the downstairs area
  11. Reminds me of a very heavy landing I encountered at Carcassonne once, the aircraft was smacked onto the runway really hard. On disembarking the aircraft (Ryanair…) the guy in front of us asked if we did actually land or were we shot down?
  12. Exactly this. People are right to criticise players for not marking the effort but to hound them relentlessly and destroy their confidence (like Fontaine) is a classic bullying tactic. Early on in the season lot of people were on Zak’s case but he’s responded by getting mentally stronger and more confident. These people always need someone to pick on, and if it’s not a player it’s @Robbored…
  13. Great news! At last they’ve found a cure for dyslexia - that’s music to my arse.
  14. I see Qatar are donating 10000 temporary homes from the World Cup villages to people who have lost everything in the recent earthquake. It must be quite a logistical challenge to move that many buildings as quick as possible and no doubt at some cost. Fair play to them for doing it.
  15. The way we’ve played this year has been a revelation compared to pre Xmas. My only concern is with such a young team and a long demanding season in a great league some of them may flag a bit towards the end? Hopefully the senior players can use their experience and nous to push as as far as we can expect this year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bell rested onto the bench v Wigan to give him chance to catch his breath on his breakthrough season and get him in top form and energy for Man City.
  16. Even worse, the tree you planted in your garden to use for paper to print the ticket on, didn’t grow due to climate change so you don’t have any paper available ?. Major anxieties ahead ?.
  17. From the little I’ve read about the show being resurrected it’s going to be based on how Basil is coping in the modern World with all the technology that he doesn’t understand / make work. It may be mildly amusing but as already stated Cleese (like Billy Connolly) has had his time and his humour now is a little embarrassing these days.
  18. Not reference to stands, but when the concourse approach(through the Wickes area) finally gets done the impression for fans coming into the ground will be awesome. I’m guessing the existing entrance for pedestrians past KFC will become obsolete?
  19. I worked at Filton when Bristol Cars were based there, they used to test drive / shakedown run the cars down the runway… I’m pretty sure it was their cars that had a ‘trade plate’ which was 100 MPH. Not sure if that registration would be transferable to a normal plate but no doubt highly collectible - and pricey! They did assemble (as far as I know they never manufactured much, maybe a few panels) their cars at a place in St George somewhere before they finally went into administration? Quite unique cars and no doubt increasing in value due to their rarity.
  20. It’s not just the ticket price (it only applies to certain sections of the ground), it’s also about people with ‘memberships’ purchasing tickets to ensure they have the minimum of 4 games in their purchase history to enable them to get a chance for a Man City ticket.
  21. The crowd is virtually ‘maximised’ as it is without the offer being made available to all areas (yep, I paid £31 ?). So why would the club feel the need to lose revenue - which goes towards improving almost everything in the club set up, while it’s almost a sell out? Some people seem to expect low prices for one of the top teams in Europe and also against a ticket qualifying match for that game v a good placed Championship club this week as well. We’re not the Poundland team in Bristol, it’s the other lot…?.
  22. Hopefully the club can identify them and ban them from the ground? Who’d want their club to be associated with such morons.
  23. If you’re in that area (close to Left Handed Giant), the Mecca of real ale pubs is The Cornubia. Not easy to spot squeezed in amongst the new buildings but another ?fantastic pub. It used to be the ‘tap’ room for Courages when it was brewing on the site that is now LHG. The Kings Arms around the corner is another unique type of pub with its seating arrangement.
  24. I forgot to mention the Pump House, The Cottage, The Nova Scotia (‘authentic’ old pub….) and the Grain Barge all down the Hotwells (Ashton) end of the harbour if you want a nice circular walk around the Harbourside one day.
