  1. Maybe something to do with the drink / drive laws? We’ve come a long way from pre-development and in reality there is only so far we can go due to the window of opportunity to buy a pint and drink it before getting to your seat before ko. Also some people definitely have weak bladders and any more than two pints end up going back and forwards to the toilets during the match much to the annoyance of most people trying to concentrate on the game.
  2. Why exactly is it sad to talk about such great memories? Playing in the top division (albeit briefly), watching the game whilst standing, players having real physical battles yet still able to maintain some level of sportsmanship and many other parts of the game which have been slowly eroded in the name of money made for great times to watch the beautiful game. One day you might just be posting the same on a forum to some young kid about your experiences you’ve had in the last few seasons and would like a bit of respect and acknowledgement that you’ve seen a lot more than they have. Now that some posters can’t justify having a pop at Pato they seem to want to have a pop at certain people on a forum which is where opinions are always different. If you don’t like another posters opinions just put them on ignore and move on.
  3. Not seen since he heard Wolfie was coming to town a few weeks ago?
  4. He was only there to put the fine detail to TK & JdS transfers at the end of their loans...
  5. Exactly. If we can’t showcase the team & stadium to potential new fans on such days as this when can we? Hopefully a few of those ‘plastics’ who turned up today will have been sufficiently impressed to come and watch us grind out 1-0 wins on a freezing cold March night.
  6. So are we... Thats a great idea to get the kids involved and get the feeling of the momentum growing as each round progresses. As already said, be sure to get there early to take it all in and try to remember to walk around inside the stadium - you can go around the three home stands unhindered, to see all the memorabilia (not that it will mean much to you guys but just to see what can be achieved on a rebuild project) I think it’ll be a classic full bloodied cup tie - but hopefully without any really nasty stuff, between two good managers who I understand are friends off the park. If the boys are naughty for some reason threaten to take them up to the “Tent End” at the other ‘stadium’ somewhere in this fair city, that should be enough to get them in line. Have a great day
  7. As we have been on this great winning streak for awhile now I don’t think it can all be down to LJ and all the backroom guys and gals. I’m declaring my hand in this run by me sticking to my own superstitions of:- 1) If not attending a match I must NEVER hear any commentary or see any text etc until at least 10 minutes after the game has finished. 2) On away game days I always wear my ‘1897’ t-shirt, usually under a red jumper. Anyone else like to take credit for helping the team by having their own superstitions?
  8. Standard kit in ski resorts for drying ski boots off overnight, also makes them warm & supple to put on.
  9. Exactly, the same people wouldn’t be happy if the stewards didn’t let them in until 10 mins after kick off. I know some people have at times needs to be somewhere else after the match but to do it on a regular basis is a bit odd.
  10. Not quite sure how you say nothing? You can’t force players to come here, quite a few see Bristol as an outpost as opposed to Manchester etc or obviously London. Put yourself in this position - in your workplace, when you feel you’re working hard as you can and others are brought in way over the existing wage structure (and your pay) then loads of staff will get upset and they suddenly may not put as much effort in as the company would like. What would you do, quietly accept it for the ‘team’ or find a better paid job yourself? Most companies have a wage structure which a new person has to fit into We’re building the team in both depth and skill and raising the bar on wages in a sustainable way to avoid FFP problems. We’d all like to have a crack at the Premiership but you can’t do it overnight.
  11. Parents, be warned! Hundreds of kids have been sent to mime school over the last couple of years and nothing has been heard from them since.
  12. Last thing you’d want when your ass in on the line is a cock up..........
  13. Looking at the Millwall v Everton game I’m surprised how patchy the pitch looks, I know it’s raining pretty heavily but it doesn’t just look just like puddles to me - or should I go to Specsavers??
  14. We saw Aidy Boothroyd (England U21 manager) arrive in the car park tonight. Maybe he told Lee he wanted to see both his LB’s on the pitch tonight to assess them .

    Henry

He’d be a sucker to do that! i don’t even use my vacuum now, it’s just collecting dust these days.
  16. As good as the real ale is in the ground itself these days (Butcombe, but out of plastic glasses) this bar is only 5 minutes from the ground. It’s a brewery with a bar, so no excuse for bad beer or lack off, what more could you want? https://www.bristolbeerfactory.co.uk/the-taproom/
  17. OK...... What I implied was why don’t they have them fitted?
  18. Do these smaller aircraft not have the emergency beacons which emit their location?
  19. Even the local BBC website are having a go at the poor old Sags, headline news on the app is them being beaten by the mighty Barnet. This replay match actually took place on Wednesday 21st November? Maybe I’m caught in some sort of Groundhog Day void? I bet any time now City will go on an 11 game unbeaten run, even winning our away game at Forest... 20. I’ve made my own in the past, just do a screenshot, paste it into a Word document, enlarge it to A4 size and print it off then laminate and cut around the face profile, add a few elastic bands and you’re in business.
  21. There are some nice - award winning I believe, apartments/flats in the developments near the Barley Mow - behind Temple Meads and right on Bristol to Bath cycle track (are you real ale person ‘cause if you are it’s brilliant for that) in St Phillips, the postcode for the area is BS2 0LF https://www.bristolbeerfactory.co.uk/barley-mow
  22. Sad as it was to lose a fellow Red, unless you contacted the club directly - and got a response to say his passing will be acknowledged, I don’t accept the club can be slated for being insensitive. I don’t know anyone who buys the Evil Post, let alone look at their hideous website and it’s not compulsory to track all threads on all social media so sadly we can only ask this is a lesson for anyone else in the future who expects ‘respect’, you have to get some buy in from the club to ensure you get the expected assistance. Apologies if this sounds a bit corporate but sometimes you have to play their game to get what you want.

    Webster

I wonder what Mad Mick thought of Webster today? He was there watching the game with Robbie Fowler (I think). I guess they were most likely scouting for someone, no idea who they’ve got links to.
  24. Frank Lamards Derby - and his amazing fart pants (Google it...) need to start imploding sooner rather than later to drag them down a bit. As much as I dislike Leeds I’d be happy if they were no longer in the Championship - up or down.
