  1. Need to be patient for about 4 games to let them gel and work together. After that I’d be hoping for 4th but be happy with top 8.
  2. IF... MA,SL or LJ did try to explain what went wrong (not a lot) during this transfer window whatever they say / even giving free season tickets and Clarks pies away, would not be good enough for some people on here who have never run their own business and had to negotiate deals. Besides the actual wage limits the major reason why alleged better players don’t want to join us is they see it as a backwater and too far from London or Manchester. So, we have no option but to build slowly but quickly as we’re allowed to under FFP, and get a team together who given upgrades
  3. Do they sell them in Lidl? If it was that easy it’d be done by now. Some people just fail to understand how the transfer process works..
  4. As the season progresses there will undoubtedly be a few sackings of managers in the EFL. A person with your tactical awareness and observational skills would do well to get your CV ready to apply for one of those jobs.
  5. other than the money to be used as capital to build factories or offices buy machines and equipment to put in those places provide jobs for people to work using that equipment giving holiday, sick pay, maternity pay, severance pay and a pension for those workers to go and spend on cider or football! Other than that I guess those pesky shareholders (or pension funds!) can keep their filthy money and put it back under the floorboards. Or they could spend it on building roads for the Romans to go straight back home right now.
  6. When the van was late it all got a bit edgy...as you watched it come down Daventry Rd you’d be worried there weren’t enough Green ‘Uns on board so you had to really elbow your way in when they were eventually unloaded.
  7. Save Little bit of cut and paste, hopefully legible? The EFL is to undertake an overhaul of how it negotiates TV deals after an independent report raised questions over the process surrounding the controversial signing of a £595 million contract with Sky. A number of Championship clubs were unhappy with how a five-year Sky deal was pushed through in November, which led to the EFL calling in independent consultants to look at its practices. The findings of the independent report by Harbottle & Lewis are contained in a conf
  8. How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh? Tentacles
  9. Outside the YMCA today and I saw a teenage lad stroking some feathers. I said, Young man, there's no need to feel down.....
  10. I think in Spain they’re not allowed to have foreign owners? I don’t think they welcome foreign coaches (except the Blagdon Lioness of course) into their clubs either. Just makes you realise how unusual / lucky we are having a English owner and coach at Ashton Gate.
  11. Always makes me chuckle about British clubs doing well in Europe - foreign owners, foreign coaches and mostly foreign players, only thing British are the fans! I guess that’s the way of the world these days so there’s really not many other options if you want to follow a true ‘British’ club.
  12. With loads of eggs left unsold it looks like the club will be left with egg on their face, or at best around their mouth?
  13. They do have the ‘world famous’ Sweeney Todd pie shop! Unfortunately for them our Clark’s pies beat them hands down. Bristol (City..) 1 Reading biscuit munchers 0
  14. I’ve been told the Antiques Roadshow is from Bristol this evening and they have someone on there with a lot of BCFC programmes - may be worth a look to see if you have any programmes worth flogging any time?
  15. From what I’ve read it was delayed as the player wanted more time with his old teammates and I’ve seen no mention of another pilot, same pilot- same aircraft just delayed departure?
  16. Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we, could we? Great times but the world has moved on - unless you want to go back to driving a Ford Zephyr or something equally unreliable from that time .
  17. Maybe something to do with the drink / drive laws? We’ve come a long way from pre-development and in reality there is only so far we can go due to the window of opportunity to buy a pint and drink it before getting to your seat before ko. Also some people definitely have weak bladders and any more than two pints end up going back and forwards to the toilets during the match much to the annoyance of most people trying to concentrate on the game.
  18. Why exactly is it sad to talk about such great memories? Playing in the top division (albeit briefly), watching the game whilst standing, players having real physical battles yet still able to maintain some level of sportsmanship and many other parts of the game which have been slowly eroded in the name of money made for great times to watch the beautiful game. One day you might just be posting the same on a forum to some young kid about your experiences you’ve had in the last few seasons and would like a bit of respect and acknowledgement that you’ve seen a lot more than they have.
  19. Not seen since he heard Wolfie was coming to town a few weeks ago?
  20. He was only there to put the fine detail to TK & JdS transfers at the end of their loans...
  21. Exactly. If we can’t showcase the team & stadium to potential new fans on such days as this when can we? Hopefully a few of those ‘plastics’ who turned up today will have been sufficiently impressed to come and watch us grind out 1-0 wins on a freezing cold March night.
  22. So are we... Thats a great idea to get the kids involved and get the feeling of the momentum growing as each round progresses. As already said, be sure to get there early to take it all in and try to remember to walk around inside the stadium - you can go around the three home stands unhindered, to see all the memorabilia (not that it will mean much to you guys but just to see what can be achieved on a rebuild project) I think it’ll be a classic full bloodied cup tie - but hopefully without any really nasty stuff, between two good managers who I understand are friends off the
  23. As we have been on this great winning streak for awhile now I don’t think it can all be down to LJ and all the backroom guys and gals. I’m declaring my hand in this run by me sticking to my own superstitions of:- 1) If not attending a match I must NEVER hear any commentary or see any text etc until at least 10 minutes after the game has finished. 2) On away game days I always wear my ‘1897’ t-shirt, usually under a red jumper. Anyone else like to take credit for helping the team by having their own superstitions?
  24. Standard kit in ski resorts for drying ski boots off overnight, also makes them warm & supple to put on.
