  1. If we play 3 centre backs, then for me it's a must that Pack is left out. We don't need his defensive cover with 3 CBs, we need the extra creativity in the midfield.
  2. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/aston-villa-facing-investigation-after-stadium-sale-0tcrzjl7b Could this come back to bite Villa and if it does, would it embolden the FL to punish Derby who appear to have even more blatantly over valued their ground in a sell and lease back scheme to get around FFP.
  3. WTF signing to me... Why not just let Max go out on loan with a recall option? As for helping coaching we have signed Mountain for that and City women are advertising for a head of goalkeeping!
  4. You can save £5 per ticket by spending £20 to become a member for the season. Bottom line is that gate money is still an important ingredient for all FL teams (not PL), so clubs will sensibly charge what they can to maximise that revenue. Doubt our prices are out-of-line with most Championship clubs. If it's not affordable except for the occasional visit, there is always BCTV
  5. Exactly, add in a Right Back who can defend one-on-one so we can play a back 4 with Kalas, Webster, Dasilva, and then we could go higher.
  6. The rumoured £4m does seem a lot when we are taking a gamble last season's poor form was just a blip due to personal/coaching problems... if the Mail are right and the fee was £2m that would seem more sensible.
  7. We need a pacey sticker who can finish... Hoping might be that Arsenal lad on loan. We also need a RB who can defend one on one against a winger with pace...and that's not Hunt or BW!
  8. Spot on. No doubt Weimann gives 100% effort every time, and his movement is great, but he is a forward and it's all about end product. Even when found in the space he has made for himself, Weimann's final ball on the end of a run is often poor. Also his shooting is woeful from anything more than 12 yards out, he misses the target completely most of the time. Like someone else said given the choice, surely every manager in the championship would take Reid over Weimann, even LJ!
  9. either that or deluded... last season was the first time Wiemann had managed to get to double figures with goals, just. So 50% of what a real quality forward will get you.
  10. Fair point, having not watched women's football before, I was just using the comparison to underline the relative poor quality of the football on offer, I was expecting better tbh. I suspect a good number of the 6.1m BBC viewers, were men like me who thought they would give it a watch to see what it was like - be interesting to see how many viewers watch the next game...I won't be choosing too.
  11. Indeed, but the top 100 men do not represent MOST men do they! You could likely pick a team excluding the top 10000 male players and, based on what I saw from the England v Scotland game, neither Women's side would beat them.
  12. Nop, just thought with all the development of the woman's game over the last few years that the very best England & Scotland can muster would have had more quality than they did. Kelly Holmes, or any other top female athlete would beat most men over their distance, the England/Scotland women's team are nowhere near that level.
  13. I watched the fist half of the England - Scotland game and was disappointed with the quality. Reckon Bath City could comfortably beat England or Scotland women... queue abuse no doubt!
  14. Exactly my understanding too, what a cock up
  15. Very much agree, Kalas should be (and perhaps is) our number 1 priority to get signed. Him and Webster make a terrific pair in a back 4. Happily see him become our top earner instead of Baker, who we could then offload. If lose out to Celtic/Rangers it will be disappointing, if we lose out to Hull or any other championship club it will be awful.
  16. HaHa, it's a matter of opinion. FACTS are last season he managed to score 10, and that was the first time he had got to double figures in a season. Yes he runs his socks off, his movement is good, but his shooting from anywhere outside the 6 yard box is woeful and when carrying the ball on the run his final pass is often poor too. We simply need a forward with a better strike rate than that if we are going to try and improve again.
  17. Hope Weimann is warming the bench most of the time, for all his running he ain't nowhere near being a "real top striker", never has been or will be.
  18. No it doesn't, rarely in football do managers last the length of their contracts. Agree it promotes stability, but if we were to struggle next season and finish in the bottom 6, LJ will be got rid off. Similarly, if we were to do really well and make the play-offs but not go up and a PL club were to make LJ an offer he would be off.
  19. I don't follow the City Women's side closely but see from OS that Lucy Graham, who I thought was one of their top players, is leaving the club... anybody ITK about that?
  20. Nice to dream, but with Gayle stupidly banned cannot see anything but a comfortable Villa win unfortunately.
  21. From the OS site, not quite the non-PC headline it appeared, but made me chuckle.
  22. Yep saw the best and worst of Gayle today...
  23. Damage limitation for FGR now, they are without doubt the better footballing team but getting nothing from ref.
  24. Nah... Now Mills the FGR left back looks a classy player...
  25. Agree but ref has let Tranmere get away with a lot of rough challenges
