Well that is a classic. But also only a 12 page thread on the biggest thing ever to happen to them (so they thought  :rofl2br:) . We get bigger threads on pyros . Tinpot isn't the word

They had dozens of threads at the time, some of them making very grand predictions. Obviously they were also desperate to point out how we should be shitting ourselves about the Worlds '6th richest club' coming for us. That's worked out well so far.

    Idiots.

But isn't that what makes them 'the bestest, most loyal fans in the world?'

It makes them the most gullible ******* idiots in the World. Don't get me wrong, theres a few on Slagchat who are now finally asking questions and seem genuinely concerned. Bert Tann has been doing that for ages....and got called a "shithead" for doing so (their standard response to anyone who questions the running of their club :blink:).

The ones showing concern and wanting answers as to why this project of 8 years has gone down the pan are being drowned out by the usual morons who just want to bury their heads in the sand.

So far, the vast majority of the fanbase have got exactly the ground they deserve. Some tents, a barn and a Cricket Pavilion for everyone else to laugh at.

  3. I don't believe for one second that the Al Qadis would've touched the Gas with a shitty stick if it hadn't have been for the prospect (or so they thought) of a brand new stadium with fantastic transport links on the edge of one of Britains largest City's being part of the deal.

Despite what they think inside their tiny peanut brains, the club just isn't anything special.

If this isn't part of some elaborate bluff I'd been very worried if I was a Gashead. Redeveloping the Mem sounds desperate, how do they expect to make money from that idea? Unlike Lansdown and City they clearly don't have the funds or the space to build a large, impressive stadium like AG. Surely they'd be restricted to a sub 20k capacity plus they've also lost the extra revenue that the Rugby club provides.

Unlike Lansdown they've also failed to show any real ambition in their dealings so far. Clearly Rovers fans were writing cheques the AlQs couldn't cash when they were bragging about outspending SL and multi million £ signings last Spring.

I wonder if any of the idiots on Slagchat will have the guts to admit that (at this moment in time) it appears Bert Tann was right to be sceptical?

As far as I can see it's all smoke and mirrors, anyone who moans about SL should spend time looking at this sort of ownership, which is by no means the worst around , and just take a minute.

    Funny isn't it?

They've spent years gleefully telling us that Lansdown is going to pull the plug and we're going to be plunged into the shit.

Maybe the Al Qadis are bluffing with the UWE? Maybe they've got an amazing 'Plan B' up their sleeves that they're just not letting on about for some reason?....or maybe the fanbase who have taken so much joy predicting our financial ruin for years have something to worry about themselves?

Either way, I know which owner I prefer. He doesn't always get it right but at least it's obvious that Lansdown is committed to City and he puts his money where his mouth is. It'll be interesting to see how committed the Chelsea fan and his family are to the Sags.

Me and a friend (a sag) unfortunately.... bumped into Steve Landsdown, he explained he didn't understand how rovers fans with such little investment in their club in the past years still love their club and manager more than city fans appear to when he has poured millions and millions in and still they do not love him. on another note, dont get to happy about stadiums, Brentford and Burton both have rubbish stadiums yet still on paper and last year on evidence are a better team than us!

    Yeah, course you did.

Please don't pander to the 1982 taunt. It was an administrtive action. We remained Bristol City and are a club with a long and proud history.

Great post, I hate it when people say things like "for a club formed in 82 we've won more than the Gas blah blah"....we're Bristol City from Ashton Gate, same as we've always been. A proud club, over a century of league football under our belts, playing in our spiritual home with a proper history and identity.

Anyway, I'll just leave this here...

And no surprise the fans have lapped it up.

Instead of asking questions of the owners they've decided this is a positive thing!

    Morons the lot of them.

Of course....now they all hate it, the design, the location...everything

The gift giveth.....and keep on giveth

    Amen.

  8. It's worth reminding people that this is a rumour from Facebook and/or Twitter.

    I wouldn't get too excited.

Edit: Although, I've just looked on Gaschat and seen one of them describe the UWE Stadium as a 'soulless, plastic out of town bowl'

It'll be worth reminding them of that when it inevitably gets the go ahead sometime this month.

Its amazing how tiny clubs like barnsley, brentford, bristol city and burton somehow survive in the championship,it must be amazing having your "big day out" at reading every season.

To be fair we're used to bigger grounds as we haven't spent most of the last 20 years bumming around the foot of the league (and non league) like Rovers.

Speaking of 'big days out', do you think your fans will actually make some noise the next time you get the chance to visit Ashton Gate?

    57 minutes ago, bluebutterfly said:

Is it because new clubs like yourself and mk dons can build a bright future as you have no history?

Over a century of continuous league football for City....you couldn't even manage that the first time around. Only 98 more seasons before the Gas finally reach that landmark.

Its all good fun i guess?

It was a laugh looking on here when every man and his dog were fuming that your owner wouldnt sack little lee.

So funny reading those posts and i think there was a 3 page thread on gaschat laughing about it.

Just 397 pages behind your thread! you gotta laugh havnt you?

    :rofl2br:

You do realise that your forum can be viewed by anyone? You didn't have one "3 page thread" about the situation at City last season...you had loads of threads.

You were all getting excited and going off in your pants whilst thinking about the possibility of getting your big cup final back. Making grand predictions about 'this time next year'...just like you did the season before...

    ....and in 2013/14

Its really easy to check, you should try it.

437 pages and counting,a massive thread about my club bristol rovers!

What a funny backhanded compliment that is,with no equivalent on the gaschat rovers forum and when i quickly looked on forums of other local rivals like liverpool/everton i simply couldnt find anything quite like this.

    Go on then, I'll bite.

You don't remember the 'Oh Yes' thread on the old forum then?

This thread wouldn't exsist if you hadn't given us so much to laugh at over the last few years. If Everton had made massive fools of themselves over a number of years Liverpool fans would also find it funny. If Sheffield Utd ever humiliated themselves by dropping out of the whole league I reckon Wednesday fans might find it amusing.

Unlike Gaschat we don't feel threatened by opposition supporters on here so you're allowed to carry on posting. How long do you reckon it'll be this season before you all start getting boners over the possibility of getting your 'cup final' against City back for the first time in nearly two decades?

Thinking about this fixture reminded me of a conversation with a club official there last year.

It seems that Mangoes cleared about £10k after their fixture with us, and I hope it does the same for them this season. However, when they played the big/rich club in their friendly, the sh*t demanded 30% of the gate. Wonder if they will be playing them this season?

Apologies if I posted this at all last season, but it's always worth reminding people of just how sh*t the sh*t are.

....and it's always worth reminding people what a bunch of lying pr1cks the members of Gaschat are.

I would happily stay in the shadow if it meant we didn't lose our identity and become a plastic club with a plastic fanbase and ownership as they have

    A plastic fanbase?

    We've got a bigger fanbase.

They're the ones who claim that all their thousands of 'stay away' supporters won't return until they've got a nice comfy seat to sit in...preferably in their new, out of town, identikit stadium. Plastic.

By plastic ownership, presumably they mean wealthy ambitious Bristolian as opposed to skint Chelsea supporting Jordanian?

I'm pretty sure ours was never that empty

This was the bus leaving Ashton Gate at the start of our open top bus tour. Not really a surprise to see our fans making the effort as per usual but then we always do show up in larger numbers.

On the same day we sign a new striker for 5.3 million Rovers have a bid turned down by Peterborough for Luke James, the same Luke James that was meant to be the replacement for Matty Taylor last season when he came on loan and ended up scoring 0 in 23....

Well, ok...Wallys billions couldn't tempt Peterborough to part with a striker who scored **** all on loan to the Gas last season but they have retained the services of crowd favourite Ellis 'up the City' Harrison.

    They're coming for us.

    'Tick tock'
