  1. The way Ashton Gates redevelopment has been executed has been poor in my opinion. I was in favour of the move to AV and wish we still could
  2. I've been ashamed to call myself English since the Brexit vote and its fallout. Can't even have sport to make me feel better
  3. Richest Union Most Pro players Most Amateur players 2nd Most professional teams Anything other than the best should be seen as abject failure. To be this bad for this long is simply criminal.
  4. Apologies. My poor written English. Some Fellow clubs that should say. My point is that QPR can afford to charge £235 despite lower average attendances. Morecombe as low as £150. My argument is simply that we could and should try and make Bristol City as accessible as possible. I know a few who have stopped going due to the costs. Similarly, most people can afford their energy bills. Doesn't mean it's not a rip off. Bristol has a very strong middle class, which allows the club to keep attendances up, but there are still plenty of lifelong City fans who either can't go, or have to make significant sacrifice to keep going. Particularly since the club ditched its commitment to cheaper season tickets for disabled supporters. The final point I'd make, is I could get a Season Ticket for both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid combined for less than our cheapest Season Ticket. Football has its roots in community, which is what separates us from franchise USA sports. We should not forget that
  5. I completely understand the need for financial stability. If I were to write a club constitution, the first point would be to keep the club in the black at all times. What I mean by 'club not business' is that a club should not look to take excessive money from its members. However, given that we charge about double for a ST than you would for most continental top flight teams, it clearly is a rip off. Fellow Championship clubs charge in the 200s, fellow FL clubs charge in the 100s. I've always prioritised the club over the team. I'd rather we couldn't pay top wages, but my fellow Bristolians can afford to go. Our clubs name is that we are a football club for the City of Bristol, not just those with a bit more cash.
  6. The prices have been outrageous for years. The increase announced in 2018 prompted me to walk out and I've not been back since. Quite frankly I'd rather be like Bradford City. Prices that reflect the community and achievement on the pitch is a bonus. It is a club after all, not a business.
  7. Can't see past France this year. France, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, Italy Scotland will suprise, Ireland will be steady, England and Wales will dissappoint and Itlay shouldn't be there.
  8. I adore visiting France. My accommodation must always have a baker and cheesemonger in a 5 minute round trip. Stunning
  9. So I was watching a game a few weeks ago and a player committed an offence that I felt justified a yellow card for two reasons. A similar and more obvious example would be Chiellini's foul on Saka in the Euros final last year. It was a professional foul, which would make it a yellow card, but he committed it by dragging Saka to the floor by his collar, which would also be worthy of a yellow card, regardless of the circumstances. Can referees do this, and if they can, should they?
  10. For the first time in ages I'm excited by that. Won't be the procession to the finals we've had since we failed to get to euro 2008. First time we've had a team that has won a major tournament in our group since Germany in 2002 WC qualification. Excited
  11. I love Athletic and if every club in the world followed their model, then football would be a truly incredible thing. I'd rather watch City in League one with Athletic's player policy than I would watch them play in the Premier League without it. The joy of home grown players and the pride it gives you is far more satisfying than climbing the leagues imo.
  12. I have Lamar at QB which is good, but have not got any good wide recievers. Relying on Jackson and steady running backs. Hard to want the Ravens to score lots as a Browns fan
  13. It's always been the Camp Nou, though Nou Camp is acceptable in Catalonian grammar. As it translates into English as 'New Ground', we often chose to use the more Anglo version, as we wouldn't say the 'ground new'. However there is a trend recently to actually call things by it's proper name which is probably a good thing. Source: Chatting to a semi-professional local who worked nights at the Barcelona hostel I was staying in. Buy them in advance on the official site (it translates into English). Tickets are expensive to be prepared to sit in the upper tier. Spanish football culture is not a very violent one and you'll have no problems taking your son. Watch any el clasico game and you'll see opposition fans in the wrong end, in full colours, openly celebrating.
  14. For me, you have to support the local side to where you grow up. Anything else is grounds for 'Not Proper Fan'. So if you're from Bristol and support a United, Liverpool etc, you're not a proper fan. My wife and I may have to leave Bristol in the next few years for work, and if we have a family, the kids will be raised to support their local side. I'll give them a soft spot for City, but they should not be 'their team'. You must on top of that, show an interest in the team. I listened to City on the radio for 6 months before my Dad finally took me, so I don't think attending a match is even a requirement, as I was a City fan before my first game. It should be noted though, that some fans are more dedicated. Some sing more, some give up their time to create displays and fundraise, some put in a larger percentage of their disposable income (someone who scrimps and saves to buy our cheapest tickets is probably better than someone who comfortably can afford the Lansdown). However as we grow, we change. If you told me five years ago I'd have stopped going to matches, I'd never have believed you. We start families, work changes, life changes and so our commitment changes. However if you're from the West Country and love City, I think you're undoubtedly a fan.
  15. I was cynical of the wave and the lights, and the DJ set before the game was poor (just put hi ho silver lining on), however... ...it was wonderful that whenever we lost the ball or made a mistake, there were few groans and moans. No overweight, unfit, middle aged fan declaring how they could do better through mouthfuls of pie. It was so positive, and as such, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just need to learn more than one chant though. Will be at St Marys next week.
  16. Brilliant second series. The ending was superb. I hope there isn't another series. It has concluded wonderfully, with two strong series. It doesn't need ruining with a weak 3rd. And given Merchant's history, like with the office or extras, I think that'll be it.
  17. Glos were batting and I was miserable the rain came down and I was miserable Somerset started batting and I was miserable Then RVDM saved my night. What a game!
  18. 17th March 2018 - Ipswich Town I held up this banner, left before Kick Off, not been back since. I love football. I love Bristol City. But the whole Season Ticket renewal fiasco of 2018 showed the true colours of those running our club. But worse for me, the unwillingness of most fans to meaningfully oppose it. It left me disillusioned with the club as a whole. I ground hop now, mostly around non-league, but I dabble in L1 and L2 as well. I'll be back one day I'm sure, but not for a while.
  19. Long been envious of the club for these reasons. Imagine watching City in the top flight, with only local lads playing for us, reasonable ticket prices, not owned by a narcissist etc etc. They are truly a football CLUB, not a corporation.
  20. Sad. Brilliant atmosphere there, way better than Lyon. However this is clearly terrible
  21. Personally I think it's a great idea. A properly thought out cycle network would be great too. However, this is a political fantasy that has been around for decades. Either break ground or don't, just stop talking about it. Do or do not. That's what is annoying.
  22. So one adult in the South Stand is roughly the same price as a season ticket at both Real Madrid and Barcelona combined. It's a complete rip off. How about spending less on players and being a community club, rather than wannabe plastics?
  23. 1. Most active players 2. Most professional players 3. Most professional teams 4. Richest Union I'm fed up of constantly losing to provincial nations in a game that we should be the best at. Not because we're English, but because we play it more and invest more in it than anyone else. Everytime we lose to Scotland, who have two professional sides, it should be seen as complete and utter abject failure. The fact that we've only one win in five against them is truly shocking. How Eddie Jones survived our last place (Itlay just don't count) showing last year is beyond me.
  24. Seems only the rich are able to not pay the taxes the rest of us do. One of the reasons I don't go to City anymore is because our owner is a tax dodging narcissist who doesn't deserve to be a custodian
