  1. …which in turn reminds me of the message for Steve,Jon, Brian and Liam…
  2. I think you’re probably thinking Scunthorpe in one of Trundles early games. IIRC he scored two at the Atyeo end that day Edit - Just seen Grahams post per Tom referencing the same
  3. It’s a wide and varied client list they seem to have. Bristol Sport, Bristol Bears, Bristol City, Bristol City Women… Its almost as if outside of a captive client base people think our Jon is a bit shite.
  4. If I’m being charitable, then what I’d say is that this has been in the pipeline for a while and maybe it’s a case that Zak wanted to design some “swag” and the club offered to act as distributor. I can’t see many biting at £35 for a T Shirt though and it looks - because it is - tinpot. Highly likely that they had to release it because stock would have been on order for a while and had they waited until a time the club looked competent Zak would be long retired. What is noticeable both with this and the interminably shite “Watches of Bath Jenga Challenge” (also produced by Fever Pitch) is that it is social media content. But there is still no content or sign, or celebration, of number of season tickets sold. Funny that.
  5. Will take a listen later. From what I remember of QPR fans feedback they weren’t particularly receptive of the work he did as DOF. Some synergies here in that he was a club “legend”, but didn’t really have experience in coaching/management (stint coaching strikers at Spurs) - advantage over Tinnion in that he’d done it at a higher level. It does beg the question what a “good” DoF might look like - most people would say a “football man” but also someone with a decent head for business/having broader intelligence and an understanding of the wider world. I’ve always wondered how someone like Dr Wayne Allison PhD might do! (Not a suggestion!)
  6. It’s no “The Loyal Love” range is it…
  7. I’m sure his son had something positive to say about him. Id be equally sure that players who signed for him at both Yeovil and City such as McIndoe, Jevons, Williams etc had positive things to say about him or they wouldn’t have signed for him again. And had you watched the playoff season properly you’d have noted that our run of poor form that cost us promotion coincided exactly with LJ being injured. And as a group of professionals the team would have known that and appreciated his value to the team, even if your blind grudge doesn’t. Recently you’ve fabricated a conversation with Colin Sexstone. Considering the above I’d say it’s safe you’ve fabricated these conversations as well. Where are these players Robbo? Are they in the room with you now?
  8. I think for me it’s more what’s said and less of how he says it. I’m not as worked up as some on the “emotion” piece or even things I take the piss out of like “cat and mouse” and “biggest bit” - my broader concern is that in these (both club and presser), he’s indicated a few things which are contrary to what we’re seeing - the playing well 19 games out of 20, him not being able to impact games (he doesn’t but he is able). If you move away from the buzzword bullshit bingo and into what substance there is, there are red flags everywhere- he believes what he’s doing is right and going well in spite of all contrary evidence. I agree the chat GPT stuff doesn’t help. But for me what helps less is what is behind that - and for me that’s (ahem) “the biggest bit”
  9. So… By that logic can I deduce that you will be happy with Liam Mannings performance this season and stop calling for him to be sacked? After all, by that logic the progress Nige was making is no more a success than Liam will deliver come May, and even if Liam had delivered the fabled top six, it wouldn’t matter without promotion as that would be no more of a success than finishing 20th. The truth is that success is relative and depends on the base and resource. By that measure, GJ was a success as he outperformed his resource level in that first season. Same way as if Luton stay in the prem it will be a success, if Plymouth stay in the championship season one it will be a success. Its relative.
  10. Nope absolutely not. And he wasn’t bad post that but just how good could he have been!
  11. Yep. I was going to click on it but clicked on the “FREE £40 FROM TEMU” email instead as I figured it would do me less psychological damage to have my identity stolen and bank account cleaned out than have to sit through that again!
  12. It is, but he was genuinely unplayable until the injury. You see very often on tournaments one player drags the rest through - at that one we shouldn’t have necessarily needed it as we were the best “group” (edit - as this summer, France arguable) but Rooney was our difference maker. Yep, a side with Neville-Campbell-Terry-Cole at the back, Beckham-Gerrard-Lampard-Scholes in midfield (although misshapen) and Owen plus one up front should have had enough without him, but he was the extra in that tournament and I think would have pulled us through to win it. (NB James was the weak link in goal but not awful) Whatever happens this summer, I’m not sure we’ve had a better group of players (not necessarily team which was Svens England weakness) then we had that tournament.
  13. You are really incapable of nuance aren’t you? Saying if he doesn’t get over the line for the third time with one of the strongest group of players raises questions as to how good he’s been isn’t saying “DURRRR SACK HIM NOW.INGERLUND” But you know that already. So when you’re prepared to have a sensible conversation come back.
  14. Oh yeah, not denying that. I will maintain that we would have won that 2004 euros if it wasn’t for Rooney getting injured as he was unplayable there. Sven definitely underachieved overall and Southgate has done well to get “team England” in place as opposed to the club cliques. The question over him becomes that for the third tournament running we’ll - by ability - be in the top four teams. And I think it’s right to say other teams also have good players. But if you can’t get over the line in the circumstance of having one of the best teams consistently (and this time it is more pronounced as we should be one of only two teams likely to win it), then it is fair to ask how successful you are bearing on mind resource as a manager. Thats not slating him - it’s just saying what are reasonable expectations in the summer. Because if you don’t succeed three times in that circumstance then questions over how good you are become reasonable.
  15. @TonyTonyTony so, if you had: - The best player in the Bundesliga - The best player in La Liga - Three of the European Champions first choice side - The premier leagues best young wide attacker (Saka) - The premier leagues second best DM (Rice) …would you not think that there should be a reasonable debate that you should be winning the Euros? This isn’t saying Southgate’s bad. It’s saying that only probably France can compete with that resource wise, so it has to be looked at in the lens of what are reasonable expectations with that resource, as opposed to facepalms. Thats not really arguing a point…
  16. I think there is a reasonable debate about how good a job Southgate’s done tbh. For the first time since Sven was in charge I think you can argue that a significant proportion of the team (Bellingham, Kane, Stones, Walker, Saka, Foden, Rice) are in the world class bracket or just below. And if you have 7 players of that nature, it then becomes reasonable to ask if we should have achieved what we have as a minimum or as a good achievement. He’ll in no way go down as a bad England manager. But if we don’t get over the line this summer then there is an argument he’s underachieved based on the resources (noting they are skewed positionally)
  17. Commentary as England go 2-1 up “England double their advantage”. Ummmmm…
  18. Well, the winner of the free season ticket has been contacted. I understand that tomorrow they’re contacting the runner up who has won two season tickets. (Number of renewals notably not stated in the tweet….)
  19. Meanwhile in the U21s it’s (puts on GT voice) “An assist for Alex Scott, recently of this parish” Top man.
  20. As I said Phants, undoubtedly the right thing to do. I don’t like the minutes applause for a lot of reasons - it can be interrupted easily, can disrupt flow on the pitch and can create a false hierarchy - there are likely to be fans who feel aggrieved their loved ones don’t get the applause as they’re not as hot on social media but it doesn’t mean they loved the club less. I think it was a Swansea game post pandemic when we did this on a Friday night. There were “forever red” flyers printed with photos of the lost, their names were on the advertising hoardings during a minutes applause pre match and photos on the big screen an hour and half hour before kick off. It was really well done. Acknowledge the point about people sickly submitting photos of the living but not sure the few should ruin it for the many and I’d like to see photos return. My dad and a friend were amongst those lost and seeing them at AG even in photo form one last time meant a lot. Great thing to do - but let’s make it as good as possible and the notice as you say is poor. Hopefully can be better planned next year.
  21. This is something I’ve long advocated for, and was done very well post pandemic by the club. The issue with the minutes applause is that they can lose impact although I do think they clearly are a comfort to families - for me though they’re better kept to things like Max and Mason. My only bugbear here is putting this out on Tuesday pm and asking for names by Thursday. It seems a bit hamfisted in planning even though the intent is right.
  22. Well. As, unlike the pre match pressers it’s an in house interview with the club having planned both the questions and the answers, and then had the opportunity to re record it had it not hit the marks they wanted, a better effort than that, particularly in the bit where he absolved responsibility for what happens when the game starts again. It’s damning that this is their best effort of making Liam look good. So I was hoping for something that didn’t continue to make him look incompetent. But I was expecting exactly what I got.
  23. Ummm….because the BBC is an organisation for the whole of the United Kingdom and it’s the most important match involving any of the home nations tonight?
