It would defo have been a fortress! Can you imagine the ‘welcome’ any away fan would have received in the pubs around there back in the 80s?!?! 

    I would have felt more nervous as a home fan than an away fan!

    I would say between 1/3 and 1/4 are owned locally in the top two divisions, but I must admit there are some clubs I know very little about.

    I have the same issue with Sainsbury's and Waitrose.  I am in the extremely vulnerable group who are required to stay at home.  I wrote to Liam Fox my MP to ask what I was supposed to do about it.  He recommended that I go out shopping.

    And as I pointed out much earlier in this thread CIS self employed have already contributed too much tax during the present financial year. That's the way it's done.

    As HMRC issue tax rebates following CIS tax returns against a sub contractor's UTR I don't see why it would be that difficult to provide the appropriate financial support by the same method.

    IR35 cases may be more difficult/complicated, I have no experience with this. But getting help to at least some CIS self employed would be a start and demonstrate that something was being done.

    CIS is only the construction industry.  As has been pointed out there are an awful lot of self-employed on top of that.

    Investigation and guilt/charge are two very different concepts of course. However I'd suggest the EFL have the right to investigate that 3 year period.

    Villa Park, if Other Loans Receivable at £56.7m refers to that, appears surely that it might be getting paid for off the back of loans- could be that it is paid for via loans from the owners but has to be paid back which is curious.

    How does FFP at Championship level deal with this?

    That's unique among the 5 btw.

    Derby and Reading had it appear in their cash flow statement the year of sale.

    Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday had it appear in Other Debtors.

    Both of these methods imply that the money will be going to the club either now, or later and it will be a true transaction. Price or rent terms or similar are a different matter, some seem more realistic than others.

    This though implies that the cash will be loaned to Aston Villa over god knows what time frame- loaned, not paid for a transaction- loans maybe written off sometime in the future but valuation aside, I struggle to see how this is compatible with a £36m profit on disposal in the here and now!

    Sales price £56.7m less NBV of £21.1m gives £35.6m profit.  How the proceeds are shown - cash, debtors, loan, is irrelevant to calculating the profit on the sale.

    Showing the proceeds is a little unusual, is it shown as a long term loan?

    Ashton Gate chairman Martin Griffiths said they wanted to create a "sporting quarter" where the city's football, rugby and basketball teams all play.

    The only quarter(s) at Ashton Gate eh? 

     

    If you added up all the quarters in Bristol it must come to about 6 1/2
