Unfortunately, I can't remember the actual game but it would have been in 1950, when I was 11 years old .  I am now 82 years old ....so 71 years ago !. In my mind I can still picture Ivor Guy and Jack Bailey , the fullbacks, Ernie Peacock in midfield ; Arnie Rodgers ( C/F ) and Alex Eisenstrager on the right wing .  I wonder how many of the current squad  will be remembered by fans 70 years from now

I remember that the only occasion when I played truant from school was when Big John was selected to play for England.  It was a mid-week game at Wembley . ,,,can't remember who were the opponents.. it was an afternoon kick-off  and I went home to watch the match on TV.  Can't remember if I received a detention the next day but I wasn't alone in deciding to take the afternoon off from school.   Happy memories of "the legend".
