  1. When City signed Evander Sno I thought it was an amazing coup as he had been superb for Ajax against City in a friendly a couple of months before. He was better than the others mentioned in this thread but was a big disappointment. A bit like JET - on his day a world beater, on other days a panel beater
  2. When he started playing regularly for the City first team he looked as though he had a great career ahead of him. Then it went pear shaped. It can’t be ability as he demonstrated he had it. As with a lot of jobs you need more than natural ability to be successful
  3. Don’t forget Keith Weller’s white tights!
  4. They were in there most days throughout the season fuelled on courage director’s bitter. Maybe it’s the time to include it in the present teams training program at the HPC
  5. Yes, because with Cotts in charge it will be a great promotion season with exciting football
  6. Fantastic, as ever, @Jerseybean but you’ve missed one famous fact about Norwich - i.e Kemps jig. Will Kemp was a contemporary of William Shakespeare and along with Shakespeare, a shareholder in The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, the troupe of actors who built the original Globe Theatre. He was a comic who was famous, at the time, for his comic improvisation. As Shakespeare became more famous he wanted to be regarded as a serious playwright and fell out with Kemp who felt that as he was a star he shouldn’t be restricted to a scrip. Kemp decided to prove his celebrity status by Morris dancing from London to Norwich in nine days, becoming the first nine days wonder.
  7. That’s the same for me. If the people I go with decided to go to - eg Forest Green - I’d be happy to go with them. The Ashton Gate experience nowadays doesn’t inspire me at all
  8. I think you can’t beat Rotherham’s New York Stadium. It’s small so has a good atmosphere and shows what a small ish club can do if the money is spent wisely
  9. Q.3. Can the referee see what the ball hit from that position? IMO the answer is no. She is in a good position to see Pring and the defender, but what the ball hit, and how it hit it, is probably blocked by the defender’s back. I think you can only give a penalty from that position based on an assumption, which is the wrong thing to do
  10. Only the OTIB forum could link JFK with Huddersfield
  11. That’s what I thought at the time. I’ve just watched the highlights and this confirms my opinion. The first screenshot shows the position of the Huddersfield’s players arm which is definitely not in an unnatural position. Therefore no penalty. The second shows the referee’s position. From where she was she couldn’t possibly see what really happened so the penalty award was just a guess
  12. A very good point from the Huddersfield forum was that there was only 5 minutes added onto the whole of the 45 minutes of the second half yet also 5 minutes added onto to extra time 5 minutes!
  13. It’s interesting how different fans see things. On the Huddersfield forum it’s pure vitriol about her, most of it sexist and insulting. I think they were unlucky not to get 3 points but blaming her is a step far too far https://downatthemac.proboards.com/thread/119765/rebecca-welch

    Shirt?

I do, but I don’t think any of them made it into production
  15. I’m sure that with a Blackburn thread we’ll have the “what if” scenario of Sammy Szmodics. What if LJ hadn’t signed Kasey Palmer the year he also signed Sammy? It keeps cropping up, which isn’t surprising PS - I’ve just started it

    Mbude

It may be he wanted him based on the favourable scouting information he received. If so the blame lies with the scouting system
  17. You just don’t get caps like that nowadays. Much better than a baseball cap I can remember that match. I couldn’t go and, in those days, Match of the Day was shown on BBC2. We didn’t have BBC2 as it required a more modern aerial than the traditional H shaped ones. I kept pestering my parents to get with it and get BBC2

    Mbude

I think he gets his seat on the bench because the squad is so small, plus LM doesn’t want to put other younger players there. If Mbude didn’t even make the bench that would mean LM is admitting he’d made a big mistake and he doesn’t want to do that
  19. I remember Dickie Rooks but had to look him up on Wikki for the details. Alan Dicks signed him for £17k which was quite a lot of money for City in the 60s. Looking back AD made some shrewd signings during his time as manager
  20. I don’t care about the rest of the season as I’ve lost interest. It’s next season that I’m worried about. Currently we have a team that usually scores either 0 or 1 goal per match with the league position boosted by a good defence (only 3 teams in the Championship have conceded less goals). That’s a very imbalanced team / style of play. It doesn’t matter if City sign a new striker in the close season as the style of play doesn’t create many clear chances. I’m sure Tommy Conway would score more playing in a different team. If he feels the same he’ll be gone in the summer. Look at the teams near the bottom of the league. You can ignore Rotherham as they are the perennial yo-yo team, and Plymouth as they’ve just been promoted. For me, City now are no better than any of the other clubs near the bottom and, unfortunately, that’s where I expect the team to be next season
  21. If Roberts plays in the back 3 or 4 (his best position) and Pring goes who will play left back / wingback?
  22. Bajic and Knight-Lebel are unlikely to feature so that makes it 4
  23. I’ve read the runes and the message is a team that has red and white in its home kit will get at least a point today

    Shirt?

No, as the shirts would blend in with the grass. I would, however, like the red & white kit reversed - i.e white shirts with red shorts.
