  1. Maybe so. Headline in today's Bristol Live: "Demolition of infamous Bristol eyesore finally underway."
  2. A terrible disjointed performance - not unexpected given the fixture congestion and lack of available experienced players. What can we expect on Tuesday?
  3. I was playing in goal a few years ago and allowed a long throw to go straight into the net. I remember thinking as the ball approached "Can you score directly from a throw or not?" but stepped aside at the last second and left it up to the ref. Fortunately he was up to speed on the rules and I was spared some serious embarrassment.
  4. I believe we beat Norwich 4-0 on the Saturday, followed by 6-0 against Charlton the following Tuesday!
  5. And who among us can honestly say he's never at least once worn a pair of his Mum's tights under the jeans while braving the Open End on a bitterly cold evening? Tuesday night game vs Middlesbrough circa 1968, as a completely random example...
  6. I remember that match... think the attendance was over 10,000 - not bad for a youth game. Keith Fear (very far right on the programme cover) looking for all the world like Steve Marriott (Small Faces era).
  7. I have the exact same memory, Nogbad - seeing him up close preparing for an incoming corner kick. I remember thinking how old he was at that point... must have been around 30!
  8. A household name back in the day. Pretty sure he was the link man for a John Player Sunday League cricket match once and forgot where he was... "And so from... umm... uhh... from where we are, back to the studio."
  9. The closest to this I've seen any time recently was a long throw from the left back powered home by our centre back!
  10. My earliest memory of Ashton Gate is being close to the railings behind the the open end goal in the early 60's, trying to catch a glimpse of the action around the people standing in front of me. I'd go to the ground with my Dad, then find a place to stand while he went off to commentate in the Hospital Broadcast box. The whole experience was magical - it was pretty much my only passion growing up. Back in those days, with hardly any tv coverage and only basic newspaper reports (other than Charlie Buchan's Football Monthly), the chance to see a famous player in person was a real event. My Gran
  11. I remember that cup game, Downend. The atmosphere was electric. I recall Jimmy Melia getting some serious stick from the crowd for passing back to his keeper from the halfway line.
  12. Yep, they changed it from "it's" to "its" - fair play.
  13. And I have an issue with the video title: The new training ground is on it's way. Sad how a basic grammatical error can detract from an otherwise very impressive presentation.
  14. Things must be really bad over there if they're paying people to watch.
  15. You're right, ST - that would've been quite a hike. In my 2nd year at Poly I shared a student house on Brazil Street, which was just up the road from the ground.
  16. I went to Leicester Polytechnic in the early 70s. Filbert Street every other Saturday with alternating trips on the bus to Birmingham, Coventry, or Nottingham. Happy days!
  17. So, we've gone downhill post-Brownhill?
  18. Striker aims to shoot, sees the shirt and doubles over laughing, skews his shot wide. Job done.
  19. Have been in Baltimore since '88.
  20. Too busy looking at the trees.
  21. Looks like a foul but the embellishment is ridiculous.
  22. I wonder if our Robins TV memberships have lapsed (based on a regular season) and they haven't extended them due to the prolonged season. Surely wouldn't be something as simple as that, would it?
  23. Same problem here. Video stream worked fine for Blackburn last week. Getting the same "insufficient entitlements" message when trying to access audio on my laptop and phone.
  24. On this day 50 years ago Brazil conjured up a classic team goal - their fourth of the game - to put the seal on an emphatic victory in the 1970 World Cup Final. It was a fitting ending to a superb tournament, the likes of which we will never see again: Pele at his absolute peak, Brazil’s majestic free-flowing football, the allure of foreign culture at a time when world travel still held the promise of mystery and discovery, and the distorted low-fidelity tv coverage that only further enhanced the magical other-worldliness of the occasion. For me, as a football-mad teenager, it was the culminat
