  1. .... You must of read my post from yesterday. Basically I said the exact same thing... Post stealer!!
  2. Bit harsh on all you have mentioned. If LJ thinks JM and LW are better served on loan playing week in week, then you have to go with that. If they were recalled I don't honestly think LJ will trust them. Thats big for LJ. I don't think either will be pushing for a first team start. LJ thinks he has enough cover for their respective positions and they are still, whether you like it or not superfluous to first team requirements for this season. Next season, I would imagine after a solid preseason, both would be part of first team plans, but perhaps not.
  3. I know he got 19, but it should have been more like 29. I liked Benny (probably in the minority), he wanted to play a particular style, but just didnt have the personnel on the pitch to do it. I credit Benny with turning Jim Brennan into a million pound player. Garner over at Moron FC is like Benny 2.0..... which is good to see.
  4. Smith for the rest of the season. Would not be surprised if Jay DS stepped up next season.
  5. Totally. He needed 4 or 5 guilt edge chances to get one. I might be on my own here but I still hold him responsible in a large part for our relegation. He should have finished with far more goals than he did.
  6. I remember we had an away game there probably around 2000. It was during the petrol crisis blockage. Petrol was only given to essential personnel, Doctors, Nurses and the like. Somehow we managed to get enough petrol to get us too and from Oldham. I know my pal wasnt a doctor ..... "Just dont ask too many questions". The motorway was practically empty easiest away day drive ever.
  7. I think your right. I will not bash Fam as his improvement this season, particularly off the ball has been massive, but he can be exasperating at times. Once he has the ball under control, or "Fam Under Control" he can be absolutely devastating. I have said many times, every centre half in the league will not like to play against him. However when his first touch lets him down, we lose possession frequently. This is the reason perhaps we don't create enough. If it just stuck a bit more then we have a platform to build upon and we defo have the midfield guile to unlock defences even with Josh leaving. Also when Fam plays up front on his own, or with AW they just seem off sometimes. Either one will not read the play off the other, and sometimes they play too far apart. I think NW will give us a different dimension. Maybe NW will not be a replacement for FD but AW. Remember when LJ went with Milan Duric and Fam upfront. Two big players which I think LJ likes, but the pair of them moved far too slow. I think NW will come in and play that Duric role. If they can get that chemistry going we could be onto a winner. As for AW he could step in and play just behind the front two. He has the engine for midfield and the brains to control it. In my view he could be pushing Palmer for a starting midfield role. 8. I have100% ACL tear and I managed to Bucket Handle my meniscus - Bascially ripped it so my meniscus flipped back inside my knee cavity. Had the op, its never been the same and I have a gimpy limp. If I was a professional footballer, this was a career ender. Now I have bone on bone action, and any amount of walking or running really makes it painful. Good luck to all those that have had bad knee surgeries and fingers crossed for a full recovery. They are the absolute shits. Stevo
  9. Don't need em. If we get a derby in the coming years, something spectacularly bad has happened to us or equally something spectacularly good to them. None of which I want to think about. Moron FC are like that smelly house on the road. Where rubbish is all over the front garden. It has bed sheets for curtains on windows that have never been cleaned. A rusty POS car with parts and tires everywhere, fag ends in a old tin of peeled tomatoes that has over flowed two times. A fat bird walks around in her juicy tracky bottoms with fake Ugg boots, arse hanging out. They say all brides are beautiful... not this one. Her 2 fat kids are bullys and walking prison sentences in 5 years. Holloway the proud owner of it all. He is like that strange uncle who scratchs his stomach constantly, like he is nervous all the time. Nose picking, arse sniffing, ball fondling weirdo. They are all weird. He is weird... But even more weird than all that, is the mindset that somehow everyone in the same street needs them. A one team city would galvanize support and would only benefit us in the long run. A one team Bristol looks to be more of a reality than Moron FC in the championship anyway.
  10. You are if course correct. Interesting, Adam Reach signed for Sheff Wed for around 7m that season. Maybe that's the bench mark figure that made 7m a little over inflated for Josh at that time.
  11. To me it makes sense. We protect our investment until the summer. It looks like he wants to play at a higher level and won't sign a new deal. You wouldn't begrudge him that. Or if you want him in Jan that price is inflated. He is club captain and will play a vital part in what could be a very exciting few months. Fingers crossed. Someone slated Mark Ashton on this thread. I will temper that slightly. It seems to me that everyone in this club saw his potential. Without doubt the last contract Josh will sign for this club. We are protected on a guaranteed return, rather than nothing at the end of his one year extension, which the club would trigger and the player would have to accept. The question is, when JB signed his last contract was a release clause of 7m a good number. I would say perhaps when he signed it looked good for the club. However I think it's a testament to how far Josh has progressed. I would without doubt say now that 7m for a player like Josh in his last year of contact is undervalued. You spin the wheel you takes your chance in pinning a value on a player a few years out. I don't think the club have got this one horribly wrong. We will wait and see what Mark Ashton comes up with.
  12. Wycombe Wanders New Year's day 2003 I think. Actually I got up New Years Eve morning. The evening was spent in the Fire Station - Lisa Lashes and Anne Savage. Some questionable disco helpers until 9 in the morning. Then all down to Wycombe for the game. Buzzin
  13. I said this as soon as Jay DS was fit and back in the side on a previous thread. He would be excellent in front of the back 3 and give cover for Korey Smith who might need a bit more time to get fully fit.
  14. It's not on in Canada. Would be 431am KO... Kinda glad it's not on... But also gutted very gutted. It would test me to get up after a rather nice bottle of Chablis. I am CTID.... Ok I would get up. Of course of would.... Ok. I will stir at 431am. Know they are playing. Feel good about a win. Absolutely know I can't watch them and radio commentary would be too loud... .... Hate being an expat. 2 nil win. Will check the score once I wake up and feel dirty for not being loyal. CAF
  15. I mentioned this on a different thread. There are too sides to this business. The playing side and player recruitment and subsequent selling at a profit. Both of which in the grand scheme of things are working. SL will judge LJ on both criteria and I believe he is far from pulling the trigger. The problem is for SL is that if he brings a new manager in, he might want to change what can only be considered a highly profitable and hugely successful program. LJ tows the line. This in turn gives Mark Ashton a bigger role in that process. All this is at risk if he sacks LJ. Honestly I don't think we are in the hole big enough for SL sack him.
  16. Good question. Probably because we matched their valuation. For the player a pay increase for sure. Definitely an upgrade on what we had. I would agree he has been off the boil somewhat in the last few games, but there are at least 6 or 7 players I would put infront of him as underperforming. I would like too see NM in the FA Cup. Perhaps a run of 3 or 4 games might give him a refocus.
  17. That's exactly the point I was trying to make. Thanks Dave.
  18. LJ is still in credit. I don't think it's as bad as everyone makes out. We have been through much worse. All teams go through this. Most teams in the world need a new striker and a new centre half. We are no different. It ain't pretty and it ain't fun. But it's far from the doom and gloom some would make out. 2 points off the play offs and significant return on investment keeps him in a job. For now. Problem for Lee is his maturity level. I think ultimately it will be his downfall. I can only comment on what I see, but last couple of games he has been getting involved in off field events. This is a reoccurring theme. It's not a one off. This is a complete lack of discipline and maturity. I just wonder how he handles himself when things go against him in and around the team. What I see on the bench is cringeworthy at times. Anyway all that aside I think he stays for now. He has a transfer window and 4 months to take care of this. It will either be a wobble and we move on, or something more of a downward spiral and the knives will be out. Stevo
  19. The modern day Bristol City conundrum is, are we ready? Yes we can sell player for £12m, £14m and £22, but can we buy one at that price? Is that a bridge too far? Kalas, record signing has been injured and perhaps a little off so far this season. As far as I am concerned I am not too worried. A season long loan gives us the upper hand and we feel comfortable purchasing a player, who in all respects we knew inside and out. Low risk. What we need is that blue chip "out of our comfort zone," striker. More than likely will he will be European. Will he fit? Will we give him time? Are we ready as a club and collective fanbase to accept a £15-20m pound player? This would signal the next level and progression for this football club. But whoever we bring in will need the skin of a rhino. Preseason in Botswana needed. Stevo
  20. I didn't read it all, but it doesn't really matter. Some good comments, some not so good I would Assume. Fact is FD and AW would be fantastic if they were impact subs and 3rd and 4th choice, pushing two other more formidable strikers. But we have a workhorse and the most awkward effective player in the championship.... It ain't all that bad.
  21. Me too. The fact he didn't was more surprising than his celebration. I am not sure how vocal Luton's manager was, but if was a Warnock type I am sure he would have seen yellow.
  22. I never really understood that. He was brought in as a squad player. He has been a good squad player when called upon. Today he has put forward a case to the management for more minutes. Exactly what a squad player should do.
  23. Moron FC would do well in the SPL... But it's a league that is about irrelevant as they are. Basically who cares how good Rangers and Celtic are.
  24. No such thing as an irrelevant 3 points in this league.
