  1. Morning all...

...but it's good night from me. When I awake, many of you will be 2 or 3 4,5,6 and maybe more pints in. Getting to the ground and warming up those vocal cords. Watching the lads warm up. Giving the locals a bit of large... C'mon city.

This is when it's the hardest being an expat.

I have to set my alarm. Wake up, head phones in...coffee on. I just hope the missus doesn't fancy a shag during the first half, coz the headphones come out. You miss so much...argh.

It used to be simple.  But change time zone and country and the match day ritual is massively different.

Let's hope the boys score and me too... surely that's why they invented half time!!

Oh and on that point, what will you do when your only player leaves in Jan ? Be interesting to see what happens with the few hundred thou' you get, re-invest in players for your relegation fight (if you slip that way) , or will it be used to take your owner closer to Billionaire status ? Just sayin' ;)

Good point.  I am sure it will be stuck in draw someplace.  Wally will come up with an excuse as to why "its the wrong transfer window to do business".  They will lap it up as financial prudence, and the sensible thing to do.  They will be mugged again and defend it.

The new regime have been in place since the end of February.  Just over half a year.  What did you expect? The UWE, a brand new Training complex and Champions league football to be delivered in that time?

No.  But surely you would want a statement of intent, backed with something financial.  A marquee signing? Any signing.

You cannot be happy at the last transfer window.  It was an opportunity to display to the fans, exactly the type club he wants to own.  He could have shown you the financial clout you all believe he has.  He didn't back his manager at all.  I am sure DC came to him with a list of players he wanted to buy.

That must of been a very uneasy conversation between the two of them.

    The clock is ticking.

Read it.  Its all smoke and mirrors with them.  Nothing concrete. Nothing happening.  A consultation here, a consultation there.  They talk an awful lot, but nothing actually happens.

Yet the blue few all believe they are on the brink of a new dawn.  Mate of mine, says and I quote "He is not going to throw money at the team.  Its all about the infrastructure and getting things right off the pitch first."  I was to assume he meant the training pitch, the ground and the academy. All of which as we know, are at the consultative stage.

Maybe Wael should change his name to the "conSultan of Bristol"

  5. From non league football to Division III in two seasons. Let that sink in. Achievement? No, not for me.

They should not even be thinking of us. But they are.  We have vastly different agendas.

The advancement of footballing infrastructure is a key element to success, however not binding.

We have redeveloped Ashton Gate into facility capable of matching our ambition.  With SL we have a benefactor that has significancly backed this club. His track record of investment is undeniable.

They have or have to build a car park. I almost don't understand that. Their owner, at best is a complete unknown quantity.  The proof is in the desire to move forward.

We have. We are operating at different spectrum to them. We are now a fully functioning Championship side. With a season under our belts, the knowledge and experience gained the last 12 months have been invaluable.  The addition of Mark Ashton is key to our progression. He will be the single focal point of our summer.

What in terms of personnel do they have? Do they have the foggiest idea of what they are up against.  For all of your posturing today and running around your ground shouting "were coming for you...."

Your light years away. The gulf is huge.  We are now an outfit capable.  You might get lucky.  You did today. But in this day and age you need sustainable growth.

You well might be in league 1 for years, not an easy league. For me the following is key.  See what your new man is all about. Money. Investment.  New ground.  Recruitment.  Academy.   Attendances.

Then I might look over my shoulder.
