Couple of points to make.
Firstly, FFP has to be mentioned here. They simply cannot just come in a build a team full of million pound players.
Secondly, I use the analogy of a used car sales man (Higgs). Up drives a brand new Ferrari out jumps (Al-Qadi) and starts sniffing round an MkII Ford Escort, that Higgs just put on the lot this morning, with no price.
I am interested, as Al-Qadi, how much. Well Higgs knows its only worth a few hundred at best. MOT needed and the interior is shocking. The engine is shot and needs 4 new tires. $1000 says Higgs, sold says Al-Qadi.
Why oh why would the owner of a Ferrari buy a beaten up old escort. There is only so much he can do with it. Its a pile of crap and no amount of money is going to change it.
For me, we are competing against 91 other league clubs, either directly or indirectly. They are just another one. I think promotion to the Championship was a massive reality check for us and despite our billionaire owner have found it hard. They will if they get there no doubt experience the same thing.
If their ownership brings them success, I hope it spurs on our club to greater things. We need a partizan Bristol, everyone chooses a side and I am confident we will be just fine.
