  1. The Lansdowns have screwed up royally and out of-desperation have manouvered several puppets to attempt a rescue mission against there failing popularity. Firstly, Joe Sims ( pls give me another gig, yes sir, no sir, sorry I’m not a real sports interviewer) to broadcast their spin. Sadly most of the paying customers are probably unable to question the gaps. Secondly. When poor old Tin’s was placed in front of the camera he looked like he’d been captured by the Taliban, bless you mate, bet you loved that experience. Im one sentence … This club of ours is now in chaos.
  2. What a sensible and accurate assumption. 3. Not really comparable to a decision solely of the club ? Those two hero/s of ours chose to stay with us through loyalty and were happy to do so due mainly to the tremendous team spirt that existed at the time , they were of course different class, its why we still hold them both in the highest esteem. Only in 1981 when all was lost did TV Tom move to Sunderland, he hated it there by the ay and returned in 1982. Sir Geoff loved the club so much too. Shame the modern game has so few of these characters left, if any. .
  4. I can understand your frustration.. FACT>>> Lansdown has been clear it's his club, he decides the strategy and we're just customers.
  5. Absolutely. Accurate thinking in my view. You have reached the conclusion I came to many years ago, from as early as 2008. The football club no longer owning the ground has been a concern of mine. That was my own epiphany.
  6. Sadly, you are spot on and you know what, nothing will change either...not even a banner at the next game
  7. How terribly true. When SL bought the stadium away from Bristol City ownership it set up the way forward for his dream of Bristol Sport. But as fans sadly we sat back and let it happen... Wouldn't have happened so quietly in the likes of Manchester. We are paying the price now.
  8. Yes it was featured on Match of the day, Tom Ritchie I think got a hat trick ? My pleasure anytime.
  9. I've looked into this for you but unfortunately, the Stoke 76'77 home game was not featured in the section of film tapes that we were able to save and recreate, but HTV did show the clip of his injury walk off. 'Curr Avon' has shown us earlier. As a reminder of Paul's amazing jumping ability I found this picture of him playing against York City which City won 4/1 and was in the 1976 promotion season. Thought anyone who didn't see him in action live might appreciate.
  10. Yes its poor quality but it was almost never ever seen, because luckily we managed to find a process to rescue what would have been lost forever. The original 1/4 inch film tape, recorded at the game by John Pearce, had unfortunately been badly stored for 35 years and was damaged. The story began when Downend City and his colleagues at the City Supporters Trust found a bag of 1/4 tapes and after a time of trying to play them, they gave them to me. Although I had the 1/4 film player the tapes were unplayable, literally falling apart but through a 'miracle' we found a process to enable them to be played and identified for what they were. By 'baking them slowly in an oven' at a low temperature for several hours. Amazingly the system worked and retained the important 'backing' from the tape, it enable us to run the tapes and we discovered that on one of them John Pearce had recorded a sequence of the 50 goals scored during the 1978 season, the goals scored at every game during that of City's most successful post war season. To be able to identify each goal; the clips were watched through to identify the game and the teleprinter effect added to illustrate the clip. Thankfully all fifty goals from that season were rescued and can be seen...Hope that makes things a little clearer.. ER... as it were.
  11. Have to agree. Thanks for all you have contributed Steve, but its time to consider an investor who is not afraid of the push to the Premier League.
  12. Oh dear, really? I would disagree and remind those who may read this reply, what John Motson said of Jacki when playing for us at Leicester City in a midweek televised game, which we won with style. Motty said, ºJacki Dziekanowski comes from another Country, but tonight he is playing like he is from another planetº Jacki as Andy Cole said, was a one off. He is also a kind man who, when us fans organized Gerry Gows testimonial game, he gladly accepted the invitation to fly back to play to Bristol from Warsaw. I must tell you that when I collected him from the Airport to my surprise, he had come armed with a suitcase full of tee shirts that he had designed and had made in Poland before flying, so that we could auction them at the game in order to help us to raise funds for a young Bristol boy who required an operation in the US to assist his Cystic Fibrosis, it was a kind gesture. Jacki was an exciting footballer, sadly we had few of those over the years, he was also one with a good heart.
  13. Great. You will enjoy the experience very much. Yes, Betis also is good to go to. I will be interested to know your findings once you have visited both Stadiums. I have had the privilege of watching the derbies of Seville Versus Betis at both grounds and I remember watching one of the games with Tins, (5-1 Sevilla) we used to meet up at Sevilla and watch their games when he was working in Malaga. Let me know when you get to Betis ! Enjoy .
  14. Nice topic. prepare to open the flood gates... However, my personal favorite is going to Seville both for the deafening sound of the Sevilla Ultras at one end of the ground, the unity they show in the presentation of support is incredible to see but also for the passion of the City itself. Ramon Sanchez Pijuan is an open air stadium with games in late August often kicking off at 10pm due to the heat, its a great place to watch football. I used to travel there a lot and watch games especially when Tins was exiled down in Malaga, we used to meet up and see games together. I am privileged to have been to many La Liga Grounds but above all Sevilla stands out as the most passionate. If you visit, do stay in the Historic Centre of the City its lovely and is walking distance to the ground.
