  1. Cheers all. Mine turned up today. The tickets were about half of the normal size and I am guessing that the Post Office had difficulty getting the address visible in the envelope window. Never mind, got them now.
  2. Anybody else yet to receive their tickets in the post? Don’t think I have received them yet?
  3. I won’t criticise FBC Podcast as I am really grateful to the guys that put it together every week. I don’t always agree with them, but they produce something a lot better than I (and I suspect most other fans) could come up with. I prefer FBC to 3 Peaps as they tell it like it is. The 3 Peaps are nice guys but seem to find it hard to be critical of the club in anyway. With their sponsorship and trips to the HPC, they have ‘gone native’’. Also don’t like the endless and pointless debate about whether Bentley was a 6 or a 7. What does it matter? Would much rather have some debate and controversy that you get with FBC
  4. Yes, on the whole I agree Stevey. The Stewards are pleasant enough. I can’t imagine that they get paid a great deal and theoretically could have to get involved in stressful situations. Other than abandoning their post at the final whistle I only have had one bad experience with Stewards and that was the Head Steward. The grey haired guy who walks around with the clipboard. Not a fan! As with many organisations, the higher you get the more unpleasant the personalities are.
  5. I just wanted to moan about the role and perceived priorities of the Stewards. I sit in the Dolman but I expect that this applies to other parts of the ground. A steward will stand at the top of the steps near the entrance/exit to the concourse for 85 minutes. They rarely have anything to do after kick off, bar occasionally having to tell a paying customer they can’t take a drink to their seat. In fact more often than not the Stewards get in the way of fan’s views and need to be reminded to move and will always do so in good humour. However what really annoys me is that 5 minutes from time fans will start to leave their seats and hover by the exits, blocking the view of fans willing to stay in their seats until the end. At this point where are the Stewards? They have been moved to the perimeter to stop the regular pitch invasions we have at Ashton Gate. If ever there was a time for effective ‘stewarding’ it’s at the end of the game yet they go awol from the time and place they are needed most.
  6. Interesting post. Certainly pretty damning of our recruitment policy. We can certainly blame Mark Ashton for some of the mess. In terms of the Pearson era I think that King, James, Tanner and Atkinson have done Ok. Tanner and Atkinson look like they can nail down starting positions and could attract a fee when they move on. Simpson has been disappointing on the pitch and if he is having a positive influence in the changing room, we’re yet to see the benefit. I trust Pearson’s judgement and expect that despite not having the £millions that were made available to LJ he will improve the squad in January. We just need to keep patience with the current threadbare squad and not overreact to results.
  7. Some pretty measured and sensible posts in this topic. Sure, things aren’t great. However we need to stop the knee-jerk after every game. Bakinson has gone from a ‘promising young player’, ‘making a position his own’, ‘Man of the Match’ to ‘not fit to wear the shirt’ in the space of 4 days. Benarous was a ‘World-beater’ on Wednesday and ‘useless’ on Sunday. As a result of injuries (and not being effective in the Transfer Market) we have a very weak midfield full of lightweight inexperienced youngsters. They are not bad players, they all have ability. They just look poor when there are no experienced players available. The weak Midfield leads to more pressure on the defence, more errors at the back. Also means fewer chances created, making Martin look like a passenger (which he isn’t) Sheff Utd performance and defeat was inevitable once Williams got injured on Wednesday. Don’t blame individual players. It’s about the team.
  8. As some posters have posted, it does look like a concentrated effort to be a bit more sh#thousey. Not a crime when we are away from home and of inferior ability to the opposition. The crime on Sunday was once one player got booked for kicking the ball away the other players were not intelligent enough to recognise that the Ref would punish similar offences in the same way. Brainless. When the sh#thousing goes unpunished fans love to see it, Benarous kicking the boot away, Jack Hunt on Canos. When we pick up stupid bookings it doesn’t look so clever. Players need to ‘read the room’
  9. Agree with most of the earlier posts. Setting off pyros in the concourse is pretty stupid. Don’t know what the medical issue was with our fan but if it was breathing difficulties then some people need to have a think about actions and consequences. Group of stone island Tweenies in front of me barely watched the match. Just pointed and gestured to home fans all game only to occasionally break into “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” to motivate our team mid-match. I’m all for a bit of noise and banter, but there was pretty stupid little boys about yesterday.
