    I wish they’d dump Mardle tho……jeez…….he talks some shit………:grr:

Has TomF come back and hacked your account……. He always had multiple rants about Mardle every world championship 😀

And on the subject of shit, that woman they have doing the post match interviews is cringeworthy.

Sky have a long way to go to replace Dave Clark, he was a great presenter and interviewer.

Just watching Shane's funeral on Sky news, Nick Cave's heart rending version of Rainy Night in Soho and various surviving Pogues and Dubliners turning the service into a party with a glorious uncensored Fairy Tale of New York really did bring a tear to the eye.

I watched a live feed of it, some real moving moments, the eulogy from his sister especially.

One of the memorable lines for me was the priest, who after the pogues performed said “I think I’ve died and gone to heaven”.

Such sad news. One of the original punks and a true innovator.

The Pogues show at the Studio, Frogmore Street in 1985 was joyous and unforgettable.

Fairytale of New York to be Christmas number 1.

    Rest in peace.

Not sure who was drunker that night, Shane or me, but what a gig.
There are a few FB Pogues and Shane groups and there are some fantastic stories being told on them, people sharing their memories.  What a life, what a talent, sadly missed.

Agree.  Re but in bold, I think if you are allowed to have influence who your successor is, then that might be different…and again I’ve no idea how the conversations went.

Maybe some owners are wary of the out going Manager influencing who steps into their shoes after Ferguson / Moyes, as that didn’t end well.

    Just seen Wael's shortlist.

    • Josef Fritzl
    • Anjem Choudary
    • Kenneth Noye
    • Abu Hamza al-Masri
    • Mark Ashton

Ashton appears to be the only one that isn't currently incarcerated, so he must be the favourite.

But as Abu Hamza al-Masri (Captain Hook) already appears on their crest, my money is on him.

I would think the ultimate Manager to present post match interviews for the sags, would be Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf, their very own Comical Ali.

  6. I’ve always been mostly supportive of SL, well, not some of his appointments, but a few years back he seemed genuinely interested in the club, I wonder if it feels more like a burden than a pleasure now, if so maybe it’s time to move on, but I hope if he does sell up, due diligence and a proper fit and proper person check is completed, so we don’t end up with some asset stripping charlatan.

  7. Finally, a mistake from Verstappen in qualifying (well, to be accurate, two mistakes) that’ll liven the race up as he tries to get in front.

Looks like some of the other cars have copied Red Bulls design and with the upgrades they are looking closer in qualifying, wonder if they have got the long run race pace and tyre management right?

Out of interest, what’s the success criteria?

It’s a football forum, not a complicated business or technically driven modification with huge financial implications, we haven’t actually drawn up a specification to analyse the trial, it’s more like suck it and see…….

Yeah not sure of the need for this myself. Ex player threads aren’t exactly a daily occurrence (other than for Lee Johnson) and the more sub forums there are the less the threads in the sub forums are used. By nature ex players fall into city chat and people can just ignore the subject on the main forum. The other thing is that when the ex player is recent the thread often includes observations from things still relevant to the club.

So, not really sure of the point here. Can see a lot of threads being moved for no real reason and it making the place less user friendly.

It was requested and it’s a trial, if it doesn’t work it will be removed and the threads put back in the main forum.

Alf Saeed thought Rovers would be a nice plaything for young Abdullatif but the more he delves into it the more he realises what a mess he's landed himself with.

What if it turns out he's not such a lovely bloke as Mr Al-Quidi and decides to liquidate ?

    Stop it you tease……

Been four times now , never had the Cote de beouf , how was it? Had the scallops and the mouse. Delicious.

Lovely and tender, they will only cook it medium rare, almost a char on the outside and rare right in the middle, I’d definitely have it again.  Plenty for two as well.

  12. Went to Little French the other evening, great service, food was good, scallop starter, Cote de Beouf to share, followed by a simple, but delicious chocolate mousse.  Nice wine list, whole experience was pricey but good.  Been meaning to try it for years, ever since it featured in Remarkable Places to Eat.

  13. Went out tonight, taking my mum out for a meal as haven’t seen her for a while, wasn’t going to be anything special just a bit of pub grub at the Yanleigh, which is basic pub grub, but has always been OK when I’ve been in there.  Car park was rammed and all tables I could see pulling in were full, so I didn’t bother, ended up somewhere I haven’t been before, but I’ll definitely go back, Alfresco, Cleeve (on the A370).  Three of us, all had different meals and starters, no one had anything negative to say about any of it.  Friendly service, reasonable prices and tasty food.

  14. Maybe someone left a zero off the text to Wally - ‘JCH for £80,000 ‘.

    Wally - ‘Great sign him’

22:48, signature going on document Wally notices the extra zero added in £800,000 and wages that would cost him the best part of a very nice watch a week…… suddenly his pen runs out of ink!

Sorry is this related to something earlier in the thread?

Yes, it's related to Bert Tann's post claiming Louise Smith is acting as secretary.... whilst she seems to have her finger in many pies, legally it looks like the people listed at companies house are covering the role, this was just for clarity.
