Not sure what singling out two innings from Lees proves. Every batsman who’s ever lived as had a match like that. Bracey will get another chance for sure but on his debut he looked like a bag of nerves which wouldn’t have helped.

England have named a 12 to face a CWI President's XI in a 4-day match from tomorrow in Antigua. No Ollie Pope, with Dan Lawrence preferred at No4. DL in line to play 1st Test. Crawley, Lees, Root, Lawrence, Stokes, Bairstow, Foakes (wk), Woakes, Overton, Wood, Robinson, Leach

FBC Podcast : Forest [A] ... it's a thumbs down from us
And Its Smith replied to headhunter's topic in Football Chat
The Forest comparison isn’t relevant. They are going for the play offs. Regardless, I was answering the question of why the lack of loans. Whether you or I disagree with the current policy doesn’t really come into that. The reason is clear. I would say that for a podcast to be most affective it needs debate and even sometimes for people to play devils advocate to create that debate. The fact that nobody could put the counter argument for not loaning players in (Pearsons argument) meant that an opportunity for debate was lost. As Fevs mentioned, some contributors seemed to pretend they didn’t know. Let’s not confuse understanding the reason behind the decision with agreeing with the decision itself. I actually do completely agree with Pearson on this but other views are fair enough. I’m certainly not going to disagree strongly with fans wanting short term plus points by way of loans even if I believe it just slows down long term success. It’s just personal preference. -
Everyone is wise in hindsight. Would he do it again? Probably

Manager makes decision. Fans: I will decide if this is the correct decision after the game if that’s okay.

Hatred is far too strong a word Fevs!

Haha I know. It’s very odd in my opinion!

Always hilarious when Bristolian Liverpool ‘fans’ who have been to Anfield about five times, text the WhatsApp group celebrating, about 45 minutes after asking who Harvey Elliott is!

They’ve spent nothing on Dele yet. They only pay if certain criteria is met

Yes absolutely. I’m saying those are the offers we’d get. We wouldn’t sell any for that unless Massengo doesn’t sign. @Gillies Downs Leeds maybe didn’t get that! Nobody is going to offer £15-20m for any of them. Burnley just signed Weighorst a proven top flight scorer for £15m -

Massengo with one year left on his contract - £3-4m Semenyo - £5-6m Scott - £7-8m. If they all have another good season next season with Semenyo doing it over a whole season (and Massengo signs a new contract) then you can double all of them I reckon. -

No it doesn’t. Obviously. Pearson thinks there is value to that. -

We don’t have much money. I suggest we don’t spend what little we have on loans to make you feel good -
I seem to remember a lot of snobbish reactions to the suggestion of signing Davis. Not good enough for us was some of the comments. Wouldn’t mind him here. Real handful and brings others into the game

It does if you care to think about what they are bringing and why they were signed. They are experienced guys that Pearson knows who he clearly thinks will aid the dressing room and help install a long term culture. Loans are usually young players and more than likely wouldn’t be players that Pearson knows and trusts. -

Pearson’s lack of loans is easy to understand in my opinion. He is trying to build a long term side and squad. There is no point in doing that with loan players who won’t be here next season. If we had a better squad and were pushing for play offs then I think he would get a loan or two to make us stronger and hopefully get us over the line. There was no point this season in getting a loan or two and finish 12th instead of 16th. What’s the point ? Waste of money and resources. The only benefit would be to make the fans feel a bit better. It’s a long term strategy and loans by definition are short term- 75 replies

Guessing he just meant he doesn’t know if it’s a good thing as the players might not improve for it. We are so up and down it’s impossible to say how we will play next weekend. I don’t think it was too weird an interview but I do think Pearson is to blame a lot more than I expect most fans will be thinking. That formation is not one to get anything away to Forest -

Seemed spot on to me cant carry players, sluggish in midfield, had opportunities to do better in final third but it didn’t happen, passing was well off today, today was more about us looking inexperienced, Pring needs to be more aggressive, Cundy did okay, Wells was frustrated due to lack of fluidity but looked bright, quality into forwards wasn’t great, Kalas couldn’t carry on whats weird ? -

Remember saying we should get Davis. Lots of opposition to that suggestion! Always liked him as a target man. Doesn’t score many at all but good bench option and brings others into play very well -
