I can actually believe that.....The stuff's so revolting, I've given it a wide berth for years! ?

Tonic water originally was used for malaria protection, had far, far more quinine in and tasted far worse.

The quinine type drugs touted as helping limit coronavirus symptoms are (I read somewhere) the equivalent of about 200 modern gin and tonics per dose, so probably more harm than good done there!

Unfortunately the initial evidence for these drugs was anecdotal and the first controlled test results don't look great.

Looks like after some dinner sneezing. The government didn't fancy the self employed back lash.

Realised, that they needed to do the right thing. Regardless of there rich friends views (all named Nibor) on letting us miss mortgage payments and eat just beans.

Equality across all sectors and working together is what will beat this thing.

As long as it doesn't inconvenience you too much eh?

Wish we could all be in that position.

My point is that the government should help us to the same extent it has helped the employed to enable us to stay at home.

I have said already that staying at home and helping beat this thing is what's best.

What do you not agree with?

Those that can't stay at home won't, surely you can see the need for equality here. Doesn't that solve the problem?

All I've ask for . You hairy peen

You have no understanding of proportion.  "Can't" to me means that there is no possible way to do something, for you it means being unwilling to eat beans on toast for a few weeks to save a life.

Nobody's suggested the self employed should get shafted, just that selfish people should not put a couple of red letters ahead of actual human lives.

Your being unbelievably selfish by siding with the view that is unbelievable hardship to the self employed is ok. Just as long as your alright fella.

Why should we have to suffer more than any other sector.

Your an every man for them self guy, with no thaught of others

Hope people sneeze in your dinner.

You are so one eyed you can't see.  You're equating your inability to cope for a few weeks without cash with people dying and you're idiotic enough to talk about selfishness...

Don't pay your bills for a couple of months, save some lives.  Nothing will really change for you - suffering my hairy ass.

    Hardly just inconvenient you p *** r **I c k

This is life changing for the self employed. Many will not get over this.

Your argument should be directed at the government for not giving us the opportunity to stay at home.

Really?  Who's going to die if you miss a couple of mortgage payments?  You will get over it, those who die won't.  That's unbelievable selfishness.

    Stay at home.

I would be more than happy to stay at home. And I encourage any one that can to do so.

However, if you were looking at not paying bills, mortgage or even having enough money to buy vital supplies im sure you would reluctantly go to work.

The world is bigger than just you and your presentations. Other people are suffering tonight, perhaps think about others and the position there in ?

I am looking at not paying bills or a mortgage, I booked a payment holiday and took a lump on a credit card to prepare.

What the **** are you on about thinking of others?  Take a look in the mirror pal, you are the people causing this crisis.

You're choosing to put a bit of inconvenience above other people's safety, unbelievable selfishness.

In the US. I can get an mri tomorrow

You would have to wait 12-16 weeks in the UK.

I get injured tomorrow, I can immediately get into see a surgeon and get scheduled.

Current wait time for orthopedic surgery in the UK is 4-6 months

We have zero access to things like HRT & TRT. Our govt won’t financially support things like that

It’s 3-4 week wait to see a freaking regular doctor in this country.

    Not so ridiculous...

In the UK you can have private healthcare and get access to things quickly if you have the money, just the same as the US.

The difference is that if you don't have the money you aren't given a choice limited to death or bankruptcy, you can actually get treated for free without having to ruin your entire family's future.

You get emergency care immediately with no bill.

  9. I think it's a bit premature to give bojo a pass yet.

So far he's announced £300bn of loans to be made by banks with the government only underwriting them (so only on the hook for those not repaid), and about another £10bn of direct aid.  The £30bn of cash injected by VAT is only costing about £1-2bn because it's only a deferral.  There is a lot of smoke and mirrors here, it sounds like a lot but the annual UK budget is about a trillion and I'd estimate they're busting that by about 10-12% and they're spreading that out.  Significant yes but not historic.

What we should just the government on I think are two things:

    1) How many lives are saved compared to other countries

    2) How well the average family recovers from this compared to the millionaires.

If we save more people and the recovery pain is felt evenly then I am happy to say well done.

Currently near the end of season 2 of El Chapo.
It’s good, as long as you can get over the terrible dubbing that doesn’t match the subtitles.

Also currently on Better Call Saul.
    Highly recommended.

    Recently watched The Witcher.
Very much enjoyed that and looking forward to series 2.

Enjoyed all of those.  Narcos and Narcos Mexico in the same vein.  Also I quite liked Queen of the South although it's a bit more of a soap opera.

    So, big question for businesses:

    - do I carry on in a very difficult economy and have a loan to try to service afterwards in a difficult economy (vicious circle!!), making profit margins smaller

    - bail out now

This will be a huge decision, and terms of loan not yet known, but ‘attractive’ rates.  It’s a step in the right direction, £330bn sounds great....but it ain’t free money to keep the economy going.

    Thats my knee jerk reaction.

    Happy to be educated.

I think if your business is limited liability now is the time to borrow to the hilt and delay any payments to HMRC, worry about it if you get through this intact.  It's about survival not profits at this point.

Investors I deal with are basically advising hunker down hard now and string it out for as long as you can.

The sister in-law visited us about 5 weeks ago from the UK. She stayed for about 3 weeks. When here we organized a winery tour which included about 5 wineries and a couple of micro breweries. The trip was a day trip and we were on a mini bus which was full. There was us 3 pomms, 6 x persons from Austria and 2 x Italians. 2 of the girls from Australia were a bit sick.

2 days after when I got home I started to feel hot/cold and fluey. I went to the quacks and have been on 2 x courses of anti-biotics and still not quite well. I have had this now for over 3 weeks.

it has been confirmed I have a flu virus. I also had the flu jabs this year as well.

Just sharing this information As the common flu is always around no matter where you are. However if you are run down and in the unlikely hood you do catch the Corona stuff and you already have the flu you will not have much chance of surviving.

Drives me mad that - why do quacks still give out anti-biotics for symptoms of a virus?  They do nothing for viruses and over prescribing them makes them ineffective against serious bacterial infections.

Yep agreed and to be honest at the time I’d probably consider what my partner had as a “bad” cold rather than flu, but it did last much longer than usual.

Mine unfortunately was flu, like you say bed/sofa ridden for 4-5 days before I could even face stepping outside!

didnt realise the flu jab percentage was as low as that

I think it varies a fair bit every year as they have to guess what the strains are and cook up a vaccine that covers the most likely suspects in pretty short order to get it manufactured in time.
