  1. Had a read up on him as didn't know much to be honest.

Some positives; was part of the Man City group. Did well at a Belgium club. Did well at MK Don's, awful start to his next season but seems they lost a lot of players and has done very well so far at Oxford.

Also apparently had a big influence on Declan Rice coming through ag West Ham.

We have appointed worst managers under SL. My my main worry is the timing would have definitely helped him if we has given a full summer and lots of injuries currently.

  2. If we don't announce anyone today seems very likely we didn't have anyone lined up.

Fully expecting another Holden standard appointment to be honest.

Hopefully we stay up and The Lansdownes sell up in the summer. Cos will only be a matter of time until we are back in league one otherwise.

I'm not arguing with you here, I'm trust trying to learn. Is that your opinion, or is there some hard stats about Lampards teams being susceptible to counter attacks and conceding from set pieces?  Was that with every club he was at? I've haven't heard this before.

Remember it being highlighted by a few tactics nerds and journalists such as Jonathan Wilson.

Obviously he could have learnt from it and improved but would be a worry for me.

  4. This is the straw that broke the camels back for most our fans.

I personally had enough of SL a while a go. There was no coming back from the Holden fiasco.

He's done a couple of good things for this club but the negatives far outweigh the positives for me.

He's had plenty of time to change but his ego clearly gets in the way. If the next appointment ends up any good it will be more luck than judgement.

  5. Excellent news! We have been crying out for this kind of director of football role with someone who actually understands football. Not only that but a man who loves the club and we all know we can 100% trust him!

Long term think this could prove to be massive us!

  6. He's definitely a handy player to have. Gives us the option to bypass a high pressing side for example.

You do need players who are going to run beyond him to make him effective though and we didn't have that in the first half yesterday.

I imagine last night he was frustrated with his performance as wants to get back in the side. Happy to see that personally.

  7. Was really impressed with West Brom when we played them at their place. I think Ismael is a decent manager but was a poor fit for them. They have a lot of aging players which isn't great when you want to play his high pressing vertical football.

Not a huge Bruce fan but seems like a sensible appointment.

The couple of times I’ve seen him for Eng u19s (not whole matches) he looks to be as good (if not better) than his peers….all of whom with the odd exception are attached to PL clubs.

Its not like a 17 year old (as he was at the start of the season) came into an established team as the token youngster and was helped along the way.  He’s come into a team going through a difficult rebuild where he’s excelled and influenced team performances.

Absolute effing nugget on our hands.

I haven’t been this excited about a youngster since Tammy and he wasn’t ours.  Even HNM didn’t have the sane impact as Alex Scott.

    Am I going OTT?

Also worth a mention that there's some other really really highly rated players in that England under 19s team. Tottenham fans been saying Dane Scarlett is going to be a world class striker. Aaron Ramsey (not that one) and Carney Chukwuemeka from Villa meant to be 2 of the most promising youngsters in Europe.

So to even get in the squad let alone look one of the best players is very impressive!

Don't think you are! He has like a playstation player first touch, can use both feet, good at set plays, good positional awareness, can score goals, great composure, good vision and seems to have an excellent attitude.

He's recently (alongside Massengo to be fair) been controlling games as well which I've not seen at this level since Kalvin Phillips.

I really hope we can keep him for a couple of seasons and build a team around him. Could really see us being serious promotion candidates then.

  10. If we were more ruthless in winning positions, we would win a lot more. We could have easily killed this game off in the first half. We just lack a bit of quality in the wide areas for me.

We are heading in the right direction, we actually look a good side now. We are just a couple of players short from being playoff contenders next season.

  11. Having not lived in Bristol for 11 years I have learnt we are seen as a small club to most. We are generally seen as a similar sized club to Rotherham, Luton, etc.

Our big problem is we haven't been overly successful in the past or played in the premier League.

People generally see the likes of Hull, Huddersfield, Watford and Swansea as bigger clubs than us even though we probably have a bigger fan base. Just they have played in the premier League and we haven't.

  12. Been a real pleasure to watch him and Scott in midfield together last 3 games. Not sure I've seen technically two better players play for us. How old are they 20 and 19? Pretty much ran 3 games in a row now.

Think we are lucky to have them both. They look like they could easily become elite level players.
