  1. I caught the second half of the coverage on Radio 5 and it was very noticable that despite Cotts being at the game there was very little chat about our game. I could tell it wasn't a great game just by that but when they did refer back to us and the words "abysmal" "dire" and "awful" were used it couldn't have been any clearer. Not a great couple of games after the high of Watford on Boxing Day
  2. Bob Boyd lived just around the corner from me in Hanham. His house was massive.
  3. Southampton have found their feet and are on a really strong run of form. I bet both Ipswich and Southampton are glad that Leeds can't seem to string a run of results together.
  4. It's one of those things where, if we were to take Brum out of the posts or take the date out, we could be talking about a game 3 months ago. Lots of hard work from the team but very little end product and lacking in the final third. We were spoilt by the pefromance against Watford but at least we know that we have that game in us now. One or two signings are crucial for AM to bring his own feel to the squad
  5. Hasn't it got something to do with the splatted Robin on the yellow shirts causing chidren to need counselling?
  6. One minute we play like Messi the next we just look messy. As ever was the City way. A point on the road is better than nothing and now we need to get ourselves back together for Milwall. On we go.
  7. I'm feeling sorry for Sykes. Every ball that's fed to him comes at the pace of a high speed train and the accuracy of a blindfolded archery contest. He's got so much work to do just to control the ball it's no wonder he can't then do a lot with it.
  8. That's a manager who really needs to do anything to find a win type of move.
  9. Managed to miss the first 15 minutes as I had to go out to get the tea but for the last 30 we seem to be doing a lot of running, working hard but with very little quality in the box. Birmingham are defending hard and don't look to be too much threat going forward. Hopefully we'll open them up in the second half as they will have to start chasing a result.
  10. Knowing JL it would be Strongbow at £7 a pint plus a £3 pound deposit on a collectors edition plastic pint pot featuring pictures of the 1994-95 season squad.
  11. Well for starters there are only five stages of grief not seven. And second, if the numpty thinks building a tin shack at one end of the circus marks the start of a "reversal of disparity" i think it was something a lot stronger than a bottle of Pinot they were on.
  12. MOTD's first colour broadcast was 15th November 1969 according to Doctor Google.
  13. A mate of mine took his Mrs to her first ever City match and at the final whistle I sent him a text asking how it went and he responded that we were outstaning. Hopefully this will give us a huge boost going in to January which is a time when we've always seemed to struggle to grind out results. You've got to love the City "pleasure / pain principle" after all the disruption of the last few months over Nige and the boards utterly shite handling of that situation, have they now got it right? Have we got the makings over a bright future on the pitch? Oh God, I hope so. It will be interesting to see where and how we add to the squad in January. Judging by those figures released last week we are still not quite out of the financial woods just yet so even with the Scott money we can't start chucking it about and, one of the few things I do agree with SL on, is that January transfer figures are always higher than those in the summer as teams look to protect their interests. Brum will be tricky on Friday but a similar performance to yesterday, with a defeat for Hull who host Blackburn and an unlikely defeat for Sunderland away at Rotherham and suddenly we're a top six side and I for one will have to swallow mouthfulls of humble pie.
  14. The Gilette Cup Final shown on the top right of the cover took place on the 5th of Sept 1970 if that's any help to anyone. I've got no ******* idea what this is all about?
  15. I didn't see the score until about ten past five. Bloody marvelous. Been a while since we've had three wins on the spin. Let's make it four
  16. Adding to what Fev's has said above, we can't forget that the board decision (JL I presue with SL's backing) was to block any further transfer spending for Nige because they basically didn't want him at the helm anymore. The General told the Captain that he still needed to take the objective but that he was holding the tanks in reserve so that when this Captain failed a new Captain could have another go with more tanks. The gamble taken by JL was to damage the clubs prospects this season with a view to (in his opinion) improving the long term future. That's a hell of a bloody risk to take with our club. What if their new man was an absolute disaster? What if we end up in a relegation battle? (I really don't think we will by the way). Linking it back to the original quesiton. We've lost 50 million pounds in two years. We're probably losing the total value of the club every two or three years. That is on the ownership and the board. We can't keep going on like that. We are currently in a position where the only way to stop the financial rot is to get to the Premiership. Could we ever sustain a long term Premier league stay? That's what it would take to bring financial sustainability to the club.
  17. Cheers Mr P. That makes more sense. It does then beg the question about where Bristol Sport sit in this arrangement? Every time I've seen fan complaints raised about food, stock in the club shop, ticket booking fees etc the response from the City side is that it sits with Bristol Sport and needs to be taken up with them. Sometimes it feels like we're chasing our tails.
  18. I can never get my head around the absolute knot that is our struture under Bristol Sport. How is it that outside of football stadium events are charged against Bristol City Holdings? In a way that suggests that the Football club are liable for the stadium and that the two are together which is a good thing when it comes to ownership but are City being left to foot the bill every time we hold concerts and the like? Or is this staff for the sports bar when additional staff are employed for international fixtures? I was under the mimpression that the Ashton Gate Stadium company was a seperate organisation?
  19. That's a lovely way to go in to Christmas. We still have moments where we look all at sea at the back but we're looking up again. Great stuff.
  20. Just watching the Hull penalty replay. There's soft penalties and then there's whatever that one was. You have to watch it in super slow-mo to see anything like contact.
  21. Just as I was typing Hull look dangerous around our box. Bugger
