Played against him in a couple of football tournaments, back in the day when he was playing alongside Gerry Sweeney from memory. Always found him well balanced in his analysis, despite his links to rovers, always seemed to think him and Ian Alexander were the epitome of that stubborn rovers side of late 80’s and early 90’s. Seem to remember it was his dad that scouted Ian Rush and Alan Hansen for Liverpool probably amongst others? happy retirement Geoff

Agreed he spent a lot of money in January but to only give him 8 weeks to try and work with them seems very unfair

Played some nice football and bar the last 5 mins we never really looked under threat. They were dreadful though and if we were more clinical in the final third we win that.

Can’t help but feel a little flat after that- yeah they are class, the movement, always someone available for the ball, but don’t think they ever really got out of 1st gear. Early goal didn’t help and settled them but felt we showed far too much respect and didn’t do ourselves justice. But great run and hopefully league firm continues

Always go ten days- a week never seems long enough but two weeks of rich food and nice wine every night does nothing for the waistline
