  1. Ah. I've done the old correction only to then immediately trip face first into a door and faux pas myself. Classic.
  2. Pretty sure, just to flag, that 16 in 15 is 1.067pg.... Compared to Manning's 1.26, thats thats nearly 20% worse (0.18) is it not? McKenna Appointed 16/12/2021; Following 12 games - DWWLWWLWWDWD. 7W, 3D, 3L. As been stated previously.
  3. Which should be an issue as long as we recruit well enough - as to whether BT can spot a (not-youth) player is a different story.
  4. Helps when one doesn't parrot behaviours every 2 minutes.
  5. I'd didn't have an issue with Tinnion heading up the academy. But as I pointed out onto he 2024 record thread - none of the players in the first team over the last years (Bell, Conway, O'Leary, Vyner, Reid, Bryan) aside from Scott (SL/Dale Vance), and Semenyo are attributable to him. As he was head of player recruitment up until Probert left, he only became director (officially) then (https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/tinnion-appointed-academy-director/) He should not be both Technical Director and Academy Director - end of story.
  6. They could have easily run this same piece with Blackburn. Just 'happens' to be a focus on us, written by the BBC editorial author for the West of England (Sophie Hurcom covers some of our game write ups) who happens to have contact with the club via BBC Bristol. It's a fluff piece. About the one topic I don't doubt Tinnion's knowledge of. Ultimately doesn't mean alot when we're sliding down the table in a nothing season with Conway likely to leave for prospective pennies in the summer.
  7. The problem is, Gould left in January (https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/gould-to-leave-city/), with Alexander then immediately taking over (https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/phil-alexander-appointed-new-ceo/). 23rd October 22 - Gould announced to be leaving. 9th November 22 - Tinnion becomes Technical Director (with recruitment, so essentially he's DoF, https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/tinnion-appointed-technical-director/) 31st Jan 23 - Alexander officially takes over CEO positions, Gould rejoins the ECB. The problem is - without remit to lead recruitment - Alexander's influence is completely limited and pointless, which leads to JL and BT usurping boardroom control come September, https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/change-happens-nigel-pearson-reacts-8765340. This was where NP starred getting prickly (https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12996039/nigel-pearson-sacked-by-bristol-city-results-far-from-only-issue-behind-veteran-bosses-departure). "Nope," was his curt response when asked if any of Scott's £25m windfall would be spent in August. "It doesn't matter how I feel about it, that's how it is." As for any 'credit', his purview was Youth. Player. Recruitment. Tommy Conway - preceeded BT. Sam Bell - Preceeded BT. Lloyd Kelly - Preceded BT. Same with Reid, Bryan, Burns, among others. Dale Vance contacted via SL for us to land Scott, who was announced by Probert. The only one directly signed and a success was Semenyo - for whom he gets 100% credit. But that's effectively it. We've seen the likes of Britton, Bakinson, Cundy, Rory Holden, among others come and go signed for the development squad. The likes of Janneh, Low, sold. So, in effect - it depends on credited by whom. As a case study we can look closer at Kelly's timeline If you're looking at it surface level and he was Academy Director while those players came through, then sure. But due to the convoluted manner in which BT has held multiple roles, it also makes it unclear (by design in my opinion) whom did what, and by being head of those processes he's been taking way too much credit. See his comments about Lloyd in 2021 - https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/19634462.he-will-end-back-premier-league/ notable in the fact that Probert had joined Ipswich two weeks beforehand. Tinnion didn't become Academy Head until a week later https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/tinnion-appointed-academy-director/ but was already taking plaudits. Despite the fact he wasn't even mentioned in nearly any previous media coverage about Kelly (https://theathletic.com/2002246/2020/08/28/lloyd-kelly-bournemouth-defender-bristol-city/)
  8. Yes. But seriously - 5 years ago maybe, but he's gone off kilter the past two seasons.
  9. The problem with the point in bold, EH, is that if he empowered them - they would stay. Probert chose to follow Ashton to Ipswich - a division below at the time, rather than stay under Tinnion - rather than allow Probert to advance with us, he left to become Director of Football, as he was never getting that sort of offer here over and above Tinnion. Adding to that he seems to have gone from strength to strength, makes me think - at least on the evidence, that he was the main brains of the operation. I could be wrong, but I think Probert was a Gareth Jennings (?) appointment - who went onto return to Leicester as Academy Manager back in 2015 - was a Keith Burt appointment I think.
  10. I've pointed out on a separate thread that Tinnion was mostly in charge of literally academy recruitment, and that's it, even then none of the players coming through now - Conway, Bell, Palmer-Houlden, were recruited by him. We won't see the impact of Tinnions running of the academy until more players break into the team, but aside from the likes of Knight-Lebel many don't seem to be progressing or given a chance under Manning like they would under Pearson (who played the likes of Taylor-Clarke and Yeboah) due to the U18 Cup fiasco. Horseman, Probert, and Davenport were mostly in charge of their development, with the former credited by Reid and Bryan in their development. Scott's signing (per the announcement on the club website) was spearheaded by Probert, not Tinnion who by that stage was splitting duties between youth and his role as loan manager, and was orchestrated on a tip of from Vance to the club via SL. As for Semenyo, by 2017, at some stage, recruitment was being split between Tinnion and Damian Butt (Head of Academy Recruitment) - https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/semenyo-signed-up-from-sgs/ Those links with SGS, Guernsey - will remain even if Tinnions leaves. Add to that the manner of Pearsons sacking - which others have pointed out has Tinnions fingerprints all over it, and based on Tinnions role in ST Promotional material - the exact kind of thing we'd slate Ashton for, sorry I want him gone. He's grabbing too far - one person should not be capable nor in charge of the Academy (Director), Loan Manager, and Technical (a word he can't even spell in this LinkedIn profile) Director, all at the same time.
  11. It's a similar situation to when Rohl took over at Wed. Nothing to lose, but gives him a platform and low bar to improve from.
  12. Manning. Someone with a back bone to stir hornets nest and stop Tinnion interfering.
  13. Out: Tinnion, John, Manning. In: Horseman, Warburton, King/New HC. Ideally I'd want NP, but I can't see him deciding to work with this lot again, the only reason he did round two with Leicester was change in ownership from Mandaric.
  14. Who inherited LJs sinkhole. Not Pearson's steady if unflattering concrete foundation.
  15. Speaks volumes about his treatment at City then. My expectation would be to just not tweet. That he did so speaks enough.
  16. I believe when LJ joined he was linked. However he was having a fairly torrid period at Scunthorpe iirc circa 2016.
  17. Completely depends how Manning approaches it. If we approach it like we did Ipswich - we may get something, approach it like we did against Swansea (where the latter couldn't hit a barn door) against the likes of Diangana, Swift, Whittaker, and Mavdidi, we'll get nothing. Personally think we'll get nothing from WBA and Leicester, so if we do thats a plus. Will mean nothing however if we don't get three points off one of Plymouth or Sunderland with neither in good form. Ideally want 4 points. Reckon we'll get 2.
  18. Atmosphere at AG has in large been awful since the redevelopment. Think the Atyeo needs to be refurbished into an a slightly larger stand that would allow more of a Home-Away Split, moving S82 into next to the away fans with a proper cordon.
  19. Technically speaking - Tinnion hasn't had anything to do with player development, recruitment on the other hand sure. However - Kelly, Reid, and Bryan came through when Horseman was development lead (whom Reid credited with being the biggest influence for him in the academy). All had nothing to do with Tinnion and pre date his tenure as Head of Youth Recruitment as when they joined. The same applies to Conway (2009), Bell (2011), and even Palmer-Houlden (2012). Tinnion became said Head of Youth Recruitment in 2013 (worth noting his LinkedIn dates are about as accurate as the spelling on it), as per - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23009461, the city site article on it has mysteriously vanished. So the only players that recruited during the intervening period of Tinns being 'Head of Youth Recruitment' that went onto develop were Alex Scott and Semenyo. But even then, for some reason on Scott's announcement per the website (https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/alex-scott-joins-city/) Probert seems to take lead, with his comments being the focus, and Tinns referenced as only 'Loan Manager', so there are some blurred lines as to what his actual role was in that signing, with the same being the case in his announcement as 'Player Pathway Manager' (https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/tinnion-appointed-player-pathway-manager/) - only, again, a mention as loan manager. So there's no clarity. It's only after his sale to Bournemouth we got more details as per - https://www.bristolworld.com/sport/football/bristol-city/the-inside-bristol-city-story-as-to-how-club-unearthed-ps25m-gem-alex-scott-4137520 - with Vance being first sounded as a contact by SL back in 2010.

Just checked. Inherited David Kelly from Deeneys reign. Bizarrely, was assistant to a certain Paul Simpson, at Preston.

    Is Carey still assistant?
  22. Agree with the majority of that - think as you note its Murphy and Bird in for James and Williams, which will reduce wages, but also mean our only midfielder with Champ experience in the last 12 months come end of season is Knight. Think we sign a replacement for Twine in the summer - as I think the fee to sign him is laughably high and not value for money, if we do it also means that NP was outright sabotaged to an even greater extent than we believe already. There's a difference between backing for the right player and blowing the budget completely - but then we've done the same under LJ and likely not learned from it at all. The one benefit for Tinnion - which should be difficult for him to muck up - is that with clubs slimming squad sizes down, like last summer, loads of players are becoming available on frees as things stand end of season. Just for the midfield alone if we wish to replace King, there are options including the likes of Browne, Mowatt, Shackleton, among others who have experience at this level all on frees end of season as things stand. Sadly, as for the bold - if he doesnt, we're nailed on relegated if not primary candidates to be such next season as things stand. At least in my view. As on paper that squad with one or two additions has much less experience at this level - and Williams and James have had some very good performances in our only wins under Manning, its imperative they get their replacements - if not renewing either - right. I'd prefer some depth.
  23. Lack of oversight - which Ashton now has at Ipswich with Gamechanger.
