  1. It weird, I was thinking the absolute same this evening whilst listening to the pod. One point I would make is that Ian says everything as if it’s fact, Steve Lansdown said last year we've got to bide our time' - 'we can't compete with the parachute payments' - 'if we can sell players for £25m every year we're building that nest egg up to be able to compete in the longer term' if it is no longer the case and he has in fact been informed that there won’t be money to spend why is he not calling lansdown out for making statements like this? - @headhunter as much as I love the pod and genuinely think Ian brings a lot to the shows, it would be refreshing to sometimes dig a little bit deeper how he thinks he knows these things he speaks of as if they’re facts with very little substance to them. Speaking of the Lansdowns, I also believe that one of the biggest issues which has been ongoing for many years is the constant banging of the “we want to get to the premier league drum” yet don’t back this up with their actions. And finally (tin hat on and something I never wanted to say……) maybe we were all wrong about Mark Ashton! In the last 10 years the closest we’ve got to getting anywhere near within a chance it was under his direction. Had we had a different manager who didn’t have the streaky runs would be have maybe made it to the play offs or further? Whilst yes we’ve spent the last few years recovering from that period of time, are we not all saying that the only realistic way we achieve promotion is to again take a risk in giving it a go in one season and risking breaking FFP like we did under him? Seeing how we are now and looking at Ipswich from a distance, I can’t help but think maybe he did know what he was doing here, knew it was going to be s#+t or bust but that’s the best chance a club like us or Ipswich have of getting up.

    Wells

Thought that he must’ve been Ill after the match. When the players going around clapping, he was hunched over and looked totally ruined.
  3. If it was the same train we came back on, it was actually 2 people stuck in the toilet much to the humour of those around us. Was telling this story only last week
  4. Was about to start a thread but seen this and think it’s kind of linked so. At what point do the players take some responsibility for some of this? When Pearson was here they looked like they wound run through brick walls. Now I get they are trying to follow what they’re being told by the management but for when things aren’t going their way, why doesn’t someone on the pitch take ownership and try something different rather than playing like robots?
  5. Not just manning, but tinnion too
  6. Ian says he’s fed up of hearing about Southampton and top 6 squad, yet goes on about “W-S-M” 5 times every episode.
  7. I’ve said this for years, the difference is these clubs know the recipe to get back there, we don’t because we’ve never made it and the lansdowns wont let anyone who knows how to come in because they can’t then take the credit
  8. After the last couple of games it’s been pretty unanimous, only fair to let people have a say after a win!
  9. Still hope there’s booos at full time, let them know it’s still not an acceptable performance.
  10. He was only interim, guessing they’ve found a permanent option and he’s stepped down
  11. Seen enough to concern me after the Leeds game and put £10 on at 100-1 to soften the blow if the “unthinkable” happens
  12. As is this guy. Wish they could go back with their tail between their legs, offer him double what he was on and beg him on their hands and knees to come back.
  13. If you were Steve and you owned the club, you kept it going reasonably ok for the last 20 years or so floating between league 1 and the championship. Would you risk destroying your relationship with your son by removing him from his position which is probably his main passion and hobby in life? Essentially the club is a billionaires play thing and Jon has done no worse(arguably better on paper) than Steve did over the years and kept us in the championship. Whilst as fans, most of us would agree that the club would be better off being ran by more qualified and experienced people. I just can’t see without the club being sold how this situation could ever happen.
  14. Exactly, they’re not his players and they don’t suit his style of play. So why the f*#k does he keep trying to make them play it?!? Play in a way that suits the players and try and grind a few results out, but no he’s too pigheaded to do anything other than the way he wants regardless of the results.
  15. For me the difference is, with Pearson we probably would’ve beaten QPR and Wednesday, but lost to Southampton and that would have been acceptable, knowing that with coaching and a few additions you’re heading in the right direction. Currently we may have pulled a rabbit out the hat against Southampton but gone backwards against the teams that have been struggling all season.
  16. Has his openness to be reasonable coincided with the timeframe since he’s apparently been “in the know”? Just wondered if someone in the club has offered small nuggets of information in return for not going too over the top with views that the club would not like being pushed onto fans?
  17. I’ve said that this afternoon, I think he had too much to choose from today and when Bell went down injured, he had to make a quick decision and the plan went out the window.

    Mbude.

Wouldn’t be surprised not to see him to play for us again, with players like Sykes and Twine back should be well down the pecking order
  19. Now I know partly I’m over reacting because of the result but who is the clown presenting BBC Radio Bristol these days? Switched on and thought rovers must have won and was talking to a gas head because of how laughy and jokey he was being. But no, turns out it was city fan and even after that the gas had lost too! Bring back twentyman!
  20. Equally worrying is that of those last 6 league games, 3 of them we’ve had 0 or 1 shots on target!
  21. Exactly this, if we’re going to operate like this to stay within the limits and a mid table team that’s fine. But stop with all the “top six squad” and “premier league” s**t!
  22. I have been previously told that they want to keep it plain as possible to avoid non sports clients being put off using the stadium for events on non match days
  23. Has he really won us more points than he lost us though? I seem to be reading this on more and more occasions, if he wasn’t regularly losing us points why do people keep having to say this? Yes he probably is good enough if we’re happy staying as a mid table team, but if the club really are serious about mounting a playoff/promotion challenge anytime soon(which they feel this squad is capable of) they need a keeper who’s going to cut out these mistakes.

    Fanbase

I think there’s an acceptance of the position we’ve found ourselves in with regards of financial fair play(or whatever it’s called now) and the need to cut the budget. When you go through a period like that but are still slowly progressing whilst bringing youth players through and a squad giving their all, that’s all most loyal fans ask for. Then days like Sunday give you hope and make it all worth while, taking a team 6th in the premier league all the way over 90 minutes with 5 academy players in the starting line up is something most club would be proud of.
  25. Yes I’ve been having the same issue all evening
