  1. lots of bites! Forums are anonymous fun arent they?
  2. Judging by how many people returned tickets for Millwall due to fuel shortages, let's hope our fans can find car-shares, buses and trains to get to the game. We will be along the side and will have many more fans than we had last time there (was a Friday on Sky?). Long trip by car but about 1500 should be able to support the team more than the silence experienced at the Den
  3. He must be a happy man based on crowds returning, the prospect of 2500 Pompey fans turning up tomorrow (this is not a post about our away support north of the Midlands!). We know the stadium is good, we have enjoyed going there recently, we know how good their coach is and the owner appears to be doing a good job. Fact remains they have been 4 years in a lower league than us!! An independant view is on this link Q&A: Cheltenham fan & writer Jon Palmer chats about his night at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light - Roker Report (sbnation.com)
  4. One of our best for many years. we shouldntforget he was also one of our best defenders and if people dont think this is important then consider what flint meant to us and also what Baker (if he lasts 10 mins) could be for us. Anyone watching Afobe closely at the Den would realise we have let some good uns go, even if the club could do little about it at the time Hope he is now sending lots of Senegal Francs back to his villagers
  5. Totts, Lets see you at the Den to discuss my hero
  6. Some of us on here are sadly at the age where many of our childhood heroes are passing away, like those already mentioned. He was possibly my favourite non-City player in his era; what a goals/game ratio for Liverpool 244/404 Lets hope the focus tomorrow at the Den pre-match is on some of these great players who have just passed away this season rather than on some players, lneeling, fist-pumping etc at the kick off RIP Roger
  7. Max, I am sure you do, your posts may it pretty clear you call them daily. M.A Isn't my buddy, but an ex-employee of the Club i love
  8. Gamon has a very short memory or is very young. Do you remeber the Cup run, beating Man U, giving Man C a harder game than most prem clubs do and LJ taking us to the heights of the Championship when we expected to win every game? We have gone downhill since then and no single coach, player (nor MA) is to'blame' for that. We all know SL found MA to be the first person in football he could really trust and in your personal world one should think about that. Most people on here seem happy to criticise MAand for some reason are happy to ignore and forget the good players he brought in and the great deals he did selling players for good money to fit the business model. Complaining about an ex boss at the club has become one of the biggest yawns on here. Let's get this terrible home run under NP sorted out before forgetting where we were at pressing the top of the Championshi See you tonight? CoYRS
  9. rarely have i seen a bunch of ratings for any team that could be out of 10 - or out of 4! Bristol Live have made my evening
  10. We were at Wycombe the night MA did that deal. Wherever he goes, we wishi him the best. He had great coaching (calm down numpties who have no sense beyong criticising MA/LJ), great support from his team mates and was a fans favourite. Best wishes to TA but wherever you go, dont spend too long on the bench
  11. Anyone tht knows me will aprreciate i am no Walshie (left winger) and i actually cant stand socialsim, BUT this transref along with Grealish, Lukaka et al has really made me think the collective we are wrong to support these currently obscene sums of money (possibly all generated in the Arab world like the next Worrld Cup) so we should boycott one week's fixtures across Europe to make that point. Up and down the country and others in Europe, people are soon to be much worse off due to the pandemic so it seems totally wrong for football's corrupt elite to move these sums around as they do, apparently with our encouragement. Last night at FGR we saw how some highly paid players lloked rather ordinary agaisnt some (probably) poorly paid players - how enlightening was that?
  12. Let's hope he can show interest, commitmrent and a touch of talent this evening. His palce is no longer under threat from Lionel who is apparently going to earn £25m pa AFTER tax, plus bonuses. I reckon the sole reason we didnt get our man is he questioned the likelihood of the bonus!!
  13. We'll be fine under NP, just be patient. 2-0 today, the easiest away trip of the season on Tuesday and we are 'up and running' - COYRs
  14. If you buy the guardian you have to expect that type of reporting. Any City fan tomorrow will ask themsleves is the season ahead going tobe better, the same or worse thant he best of the Lj/MA seasons. Pretty sure we already know the answers, dont we.
  15. hard to argue with Jersey bean and hope we dont get too pessimistic about the reason to go and watch home and away games; Almost certainly tthe top 2 or 3 are known. Every club is bust and despite the fact otib will get some numpties telling SL what to do with his money, the league has just become a money-go-round joke. Some funny things will happen that relegate teams but Fulham are the only ones with money to spend legitimately and there is little doubt they will roar back, s will Baggies and 3rd place will be between Blades and Cherries. We could be top half if the mgt team can find a player like we did a few yrs back under previous regimes and found Bobby Reed to score goals that no-one on these social media sites had expected. More likely 18-13th IMO and rarely flirting with relegation enough for calls on here for 'Taxi for NP' !! @NP, it is time to step up
  16. aa you are of course, quite right; just a way of stating how exciting it was to watch JET take a pen - whether it was at Notts C or any lower-league ground. I'm sure you understand that sentimnet but bredwood clearly doesnt . End of
  17. JET the Penalty King, one of the best, 'get you off your seat' players we've had in a decade and scored memorable goals. One of the hardest shots and best assists during the double season. Gills away in JPT when Smith got the lot he was unplayable. Rather have him come of the bench to take a penalty in a big match than some highly paid players/politicians
  18. Reading the Gerry Gow book today, listening to the further demise of the Gas, it brought tears to hear what a great man he was off the field but how he, as a true Red from 17/18 yrs old would have done the same as Tins here; taking sport to what it should be - competitive, fun, hard but caring, acknowledging winners & losers etc. The early chapters also remind me how similar the club was then to today; one great owner derided by some deluded fans (they used to write in to the B.Eve Post complaining about spending money on youth, the ground etc; whereas now they jump to keyboards) managers always disliked by a minority of 'fans' (even Alan Dicks was under pressure most seasons, castigated for taking risks in bringing in midfielders; - Gow/Massengo etc), supporters who always thought we should be in a higher place. If Tins met a ex Rovers player who was a decent guy off the field, I'm sure both would be respectful but right now, today, we can forget about the Luton game, forget about ESL, EPL, UEFA, Euros in 48 days time, FFP, Carling Cup, etc etc ..... and just rejoice in the fact the gas are having yet another horrible day and thinking of things to do next year other than joining their terrible forum to complain about wealthy, successful neighbours Top man Tins and to all on here who rejoice in their abject failure
  19. How long do you want the guy to stay? He seems to be taking them down and doing everything right for a City fan and is now bookies favourite for Deepdale. Do you want him to stay and do more damage at Gasville? They seem to be getting everything wrong, on and off the pitch.
  20. Well done Lee; always good to see an away win at the Tent stall and here you go again on a winning run; 12 games in all comps at SAFC and my guess is you're good enough to get the Mackums up, either in autos or in P.Os We could certainly do with a winning run of home games. Hopefully he will be so overboard patronising the sags they will get furious with him How good to hear Hollowhead thinking of quitting and Barton so full of nonsense. Hopefully they will go down bottom and F.G.R will come up
  21. I have enjoyed the responses especially from Slarti and Gert; to put the record straight for some weirdos (LJ fan club?, what really?) i have been a city fans (home and away for 50 yrs and even though never living IN Bristol, I enjoy their demise as much as the next Red. NLBR was one of the best years of my life and their return via pens v Grimsby one of the worst days in recent memories, football wise. I dont know a gashead, i never see a gashead and i want to see them NL again; i suspect they will go down bottom which was my post - what position do you predict they will finish and what chance FGR become the 2nd team to BCFC in this vicinity?
  22. Some of you may read this nervous thatJohnson is coming back to the club where even his bad runs are less embarrassing the run DH/NP have now overseen of 6 home defeats on the bounce? No, he is coming with a tream he is quickly transforming and moulding into a winning side in a way no recent Sunderland manager has been able to do. Unity for once, I hope on this forum that we really hope he gets a big win at the Memorial Tip. Like last night, i will have a glass for any away goal in an away win - and i rarely raise a toast to Swindle. Anyone think Rovers will go as bottom team? Anyone think they will swap places with the better (F.G) Rovers of the West Country?
  23. Robin, did you ever watch Bristol City when we weren't top half of the Championship (which your friends who are City fans may have forgotten to tell you we have been 90% of this season)?? Enjoy life on the park touchline
  24. I dont want to criticise him nor any other City player who gives all he ca; he left becuase League 1 is his level and we all wish him well at Oxford or any other team so poor they have to blue that lot called gas. His mess up at Villa Park (when we went on to get a season-defining 5-0 thump) will be my sad reflection but several really good ones, like the chip to Smith
  25. Looks like he really enjoyed the goals yesterday against a hilariously bad team.
