  1. 2 decade long grudges are not things that should hold us back. Those who don't rate his record as a manager fine. But to not want someone because he supported and played for Rovers and said a few things a long time ago?!
  2. Fair shout though I cant see Warnock at Portsmouth. I'd take Holloway for us.
  3. I think your personal views of Holloway are clouding you on that one. Blackpool's stint in the Premiership under him was impressive and they played some nice football - shook up some of the big boys. All on a budget of 1/100th of them.
  4. The Blackpool relegation from the Premiership is hardly a failure. In fact they did bloody well under him in the top tier for the budget they had in comparison.
  5. My wife is certainly enjoying a guy from her hometown absolutely ripping the heart out of the English top-order. Maybe we can see some turnaround...
  6. Because he could do a good job for the club as manager.
  7. Godwin's Law (1990) "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison being drawn upon or involving Adolf Hitler or Nazis approaches. Given enough time, no matter what the subject or the scope somebody will make a reference to Hitler"
  8. So only when no cameras are around eh? I'll go with what I have seen him say and how he has behaved. And I applauded him when he came out at AG and he applauded the stand back by the way. Pretty sure you (like me) did and said some things in the past that we regret. Particularly 23 years ago.
  9. Or there is something more recent - "Will it mean a bit more to you if you do it today?" "Why?" "Beating Bristol City and being a Rovers man?" "I'm a Blackpool man. Bristol City are a good side and its going to be tough. They're a team from my hometown, he's got them playing some nice stuff and good luck to them. We just need to be firm and keep our heads. They're just opponents, nothing more." Ian Holloway Blackpool v Bristol City
  10. Marcus Stewart spent his whole childhood supporting Bristol City FC. He then chose to play for Bristol Rovers. It's the same thing only opposite. For goodness sake, are we basing it on a silly thing he said in the heat of the moment when a fair few of us weren't even born?
  11. Would be delighted at his appointment - should it happen. He is a professional. You do a job for money. Ask yourself - if you found yourself out of work - would you not take a job on offer, because you may 20 years ago have not liked the company??? I know I would. If I was a football coach, I would happily work for Bristol Rovers or Cardiff City if the money is right. Ask Marcus Stewart, ask Alan Walsh, ask John Ward etc
  12. I would very much support the appointment of Ian Holloway.
  13. That is unbelievably over the top! The guy is a professional football manager and if he wants the job he should get it. He'll be a lot better than the idiot we just sacked.
  14. Not true. He is a professional football manager. I would manage anybody if in the same shoes - including Bristol Rovers or Cardiff City - if the money was right.
  15. The fans shouldn't even be split right now. We just thankfully removed an inept clown who was taking us down - we should all be bloody grateful!!!
  16. Pre-match interview, Blackpool v Bristol City "Will it mean a little bit more to you Ian beating Bristol City?" "Not at all. They're a good side. Why?" "Being a Rovers man from Bristol." "I'm a Blackpool man. Bristol City are a good side from my hometown and good luck to them. I have nothing more than a professional desire to beat them to keep us in the play offs" The years have mellowed him. He's a professional football manager and I think he'd do a decent job,.
  17. Because his record is terrible....
  18. They also said Docherty would be in charge last time, then he was fired the next day/
  19. Appleton is favourite at 3/1, But the day of a sacking, bookies have no idea whatsoever unless its a done deal (Barker to Pompey)
