  1. Bristol is an amazing City to live. Location will probably easily depend on your affordability etc. Bedminster/Southville (so near Ashton Gate) is fairly expensive these days but it’s great and easily walkable to the centre. Clifton/Redland are probably the nicest parts but very expensive. Horfield (Where Gas ‘play’) is great despite the local stain in blue and white. Gloucester Road runs down from Horfield into the centre and is packed with bars/restaurants etc and is my favourite part of the City. I live in Horfield and can attest that it’s not swamped in Gas these days. East Bristol is a bit more affordable generally but big disadvantage of having no train link really, which given the traffic would be a bit of an issue for me. Bristol City wise…just try and the various pubs etc around the ground. Feel free to say hi for a beer when you eventually make it over! Happy to answer any other pre questions you might have!
  2. Just a bit of an off season good news update. DPD came good on their word to double what we all raised. So the final total stands at £11065 for the Darby Rimmer Foundation. An incredible total and will one day make a huge difference. Only way to beat this horrific disease is funding so every little helps. Just wanted to reiterate our huge thanks to anyone on here who donated. Hugely appreciated. I still can’t walk properly and it was all rushed to see City blow a 2 goal lead (shock) but all worthwhile!
  3. Just want to say a massive thanks to everyone on here donating. It was ludicrously hard. 3 of the 4 did the whole route. I succumbed to many many injuries and managed about 42 miles in the end and a nice little bus trip from Congresbury to Backwell as my pace had slowed to snail like levels. 3 or 4 others also did the Weston to Bristol leg yesterday so some exceedingly sore limbs around today. The pain I’m in today is unbelievable. Even lying down last night to go to sleep hurt ? Overall though we’re very close to £5k..which hopefully when doubled as we’re hopeful it will be, will end up being a very sizeable amount raised for the fight against a terrible disease. So big thanks for everyone’s generosity. Much appreciated. ?
  4. A very shameless bump! Just a week out now. Some of us are far more prepared than others for this…I think next Sunday (Taunton to Weston leg) is going to be an extremely long day for a couple of us! ? A huge huge thanks to anyone from here who has donated. We’ve eclipsed our target already, but obviously want to go well beyond now. We are hopeful one of our respective employers are going to double anything we raise, so we could be on for a significant total raised for the Derby Rimmer Foundation. I also remember saying I’d donate £10 per City goal from the date of launch untill the Boro game after we finish. That was 8 games ago, and we’ve managed a paltry 4 goals…so sorry about that. I feel partly responsible. We’re hoping City are going to allow us to finish on the centre spot about 3PM next Monday before the Boro game at 5:30 so if you see 4 or 5 incredibly weary people slumped at the bar pre game, it’s probably us. As I said, we massively appreciate the support given so far from here, but if anybody would like to contribute in way of donations or just sharing the link around, we’d be massively grateful. Its an amazing cause in spite of an awful disease so hopefully everyones generosity brings a time of some treatment just that bit closer. https://www.justgiving.com/page/bigwalkformnd
  5. Thank you pal. Hugely appreciated. Likewise to anyone else who’s seen this and donated and I haven’t thanked. Absolutely first class! 2 years to the day so a poor day for me. This has cheered me up! ?
  6. Thanks mate. Much appreciated! I’ll pray for Keith Stroud to get me screaming obscenities for 90 mins to keep me up!
  7. Cheers mate. It’s the hopelessness of this that makes this so bad. There are some terrible illnesses in this world, but not too many that give zero hope on diagnosis. Needs to change.
  8. A bit of a shameless plug…but hopefully ok given the cause! A group of 4 of us, all City fans, some I think who post on here, are doing a charity walk in April from Taunton Cricket Ground, to Ashton Gate. The route via WSM is roughly 53 miles and the plan is to leave Taunton mid afternoon on April 9th, arriving at Ashton Gate in time for City vs Middlesbrough on 10th April at 3. We’re doing this in aid of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Sadly 2 years ago today, my Dad lost his life to Motor Neurone Disease. He loved both cricket and football, so a fitting route we think. He was a ST holder since first taking me back in 00/01! We sat in Block F of the Atyeo untill the redevelopment and then S21 in the new South Stand. His last game was the pre Fulham Covid game, so a good metaphor for his City life that we conceded late at home in his last game…?? One of the other walkers lost his Mum to MND in 2014, so it’s sadly effected all 4 of us. As we all know, MND is abysmal. It’s been in the news a lot recently especially with high profile sports people sadly being diagnosed, but there is still no known cure. There are some awful diseases in this world, but the hopelessness of this when diagnosed is appalling. On average people die within 2 years of being diagnosed. So, on a shit day, and and in memory of my Dad Simon, and my mates Mum, Diane, we’re doing this. I know times are shit (good timing Dad ?) but any money given brings treatment and eventually a cure every so slightly closer. If you can’t offer a donation, then any sharing or spreading the word would be equally appreciated. I hate pushing and self publicising, but I’ll make an exception for this **** of a disease. Oh, and Ive said I’ll donate personally based on City goals between now and then. £10 a goal between today and Boro at home. So no 5-5 draws tomorrow please! Cheers all. Any support hugely appreciated by us all. https://t.co/YNqiobilzp
  9. This problem only rears it’s head at full away games. Most of the time when theres space (80% of our fixtures) standers head to the top. Sitters lower down. Very few issues This issue comes when we sell out an away end, often including many who rarely go away, who are extremely keen to sit in their designated seat. (Which I find bizarre as they are no more worthy/less worthy of a particularly good/bad seat than anyone else) This then creates less room for those who want to stand to do so and causes hassle for everyone. Literally the only way round this is for the club to encourage and publicise at point of sale that all away fixtures are unallocated seats. You get rid of all squabbling, all shit chants (you’re in my seatttt), and allows those who want to stand to migrate towards the back. If this was the unspoken policy adhered to by everyone, hopefully it would improve for all. And in this case, anyone then standing in row 5 could be fairly be called out as being a ********.
  10. You are wrong. Correct. Just spouting made up nonsense now. Good to see the pubs doing a good early trade though.
  11. You did have an opportunity. You just were unfortunate when there was limited supply.
  12. 100 tickets in 10 minutes? Oh the horror ? Can’t wait untill you find out what Glastonbury ticket sales are like. Basically you dont want to go away very often, but want a guarenteed ticket when you fancy it.
  13. Talking nonsense here. For Birmingham next month, it was purely for season ticket holders. Everyone who wanted to go had opportunity to get one before they sold out. There was no away points scheme in place for that. On the very odd occasion that previous away game history is used (like Bournemouth) then I’m afraid it’s tough. Priority should always go to those who put in the most effort.
