The triggers yesterday were great to see.

Watford CMs and CBs looked somewhat hurried, certainly didn't have time to pick passes or choose all that well.

It's clearly organised as well. I noticed a couple of times after Weimann came on he half went to press the man on the ball and then you could see him consciously think no, not the right moment, wait.......now go

Troy Deeney giving it large in front of the south stand. Think we ended up winning 4-2, Deeney got subbed off and started crying.

What was weird about that was they were still losing when he did it!

To also add, will be interesting to see if it gets overturned on appeal, that'll tell us either way as I'm sure Sheffield Wednesday will appeal it.

Hackett again fwiw. I still think the correct call was made anyway.

Distance between the offence and the goal: On the edge of the box

General direction of play: Striker clean through on goal

Likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball: In total control of the ball, about to have a shot

Location and number of defenders: One defender behind the keeper hoping to block on the line, nowhere near making a challenge on the ball

Hence, denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. Red card.

Also Bannan's deliberately tripped him making no attempt to win the ball so even if it was in the penalty area it would still be a red card

Yes it is. That is exactly my point. When you are in the same football managerial job for years, it is entirely inevitable that you will contradict yourself. It is near enough 100% guaranteed. I cannot think of a single football manager I don't consider to be a hypocrite or who has contradicted themselves.

Are you seriously of the view that either Pep or Fergie, let's say, didn't have their favourites who played even if they were on crap form?

Of course you're not, because that would be silly.

It just cracks me up, year after year, seeing the same accusations levelled at every football manager in the football league.

    Don't like the manager?

He [has his favourites]/[doesn't know his best team]

In a hilarious bit of analysis, The Second Tier podcast have said that we have a squad that should be pushing for the top six, but because of their irrational hatred of Pearson they’ve shoved us in 16th in their predictions.

Seems a common trend this summer where in their analysis people only have positive things to say about us and our squad and then in their prediction they shove us in the bottom half because reasons

West Ham are now said to want Leon Goretzka.

They've been linked with so many midfielders it begins to look like they don't really have a coherent plan. Much like last summer in fact.

The more I read about them the more I think West Ham really wouldn't be a good move for Scott at all.

Even though Bournemouth aren't as fashionable and it gets tiresome selling them all of our best players, if their new manager is half of what he's hyped up to be they could be a very fun side to watch next year, with a playing style that would suit him down to the ground.

Or you've got Wolves where a manager with the pedigree of Lopetegui evidently rates him and would presumably have a plan for him.

Whereas West Ham as you say don't seem to have much of a plan. Talk of conflict between Moyes and recruitment staff in terms of who they should be targeting, seem to be valuing "proven experience" which wouldn't bode well for his chances of regular football. Have a fairly pragmatic manager in Moyes who doesn't have a great track record of bringing youth through and might not even be there in a few months if they start the season poorly

If Scott stays then that's an entirely different scenario.

My opinion on us having an average team is based on having sold Semenyo and the likely departure of Scott. The two players likely worth more than the entire squad combined.

How very fascinating that there were a huge number on here last season accusing the players who are still at the club as stealing a living ( which I vocally disagreed with) and suddenly the latest unacceptable comment is suggesting  we will improve on last season's position with an average team. Plenty of time for that to change but apologies if not being deeply excited about any of the new signings is offensive to some.

I don't think you're saying anything unfair or controversial and I don't really understand why you're being jumped on tbh

Love you Moyesie but eff me you're a negative manager.

Someone else will turn all that talent into a proper football team.

Mickey mouse competition as well. Either of these teams beat Sevilla or Roma to win the UEFA Cup? Not a chance.

Well West Ham beat Sevilla last season. And Fiorentina beat Roma 10 days ago...

You think Poch ‘worked for Spurs’ Tom? Many Spurs fans think they bottled the premier league title under Poch when they were well in it but allowed Leicester City to take the trophy. And the last Spurs manager to win a trophy? Wasn’t it Juande Ramos? So you could argue it ‘worked for Spurs’ under Ramos but not so much under Poch? Just an opinion, but the lack of recent success for a club the size of Spurs opens up a very interesting debate ...

You could make the argument that for a club the size of Spurs they've overachieved the last decade or so.

Must be galling for their fans not to have managed a trophy during that period having come close so often, but when I was growing up they were on a par with Everton/Newcastle/Aston Villa. They've achieved far more than any of those in recent times, becoming part of the "Big Six", and haven't needed oil money to do it

I think it’s often missed that, notwithstanding when he doesn’t score, we scored more goals per minute with Wells on the pitch than anyone else so I’d probably concur with the above largely. My concern would be creativity - I’ve said before that Andi is more of a runner off the front side than a creative 10, and when you take both Scott (for reasons of sale) and Naismith out we do lack creativity on the above. I’m wondering if you have McCrorie RB over Tanner and Kal in midfield to combat that.

Based on last season, I don’t yet see Mehmeti in the best team. Not saying he won’t be, but definitely needs to learn a bit more that less is more and what to do when.

Surprised to see Naismith out of so many suggested XIs. Has the best passing range in the squad by far, we looked a much better more fluid side with him in it last season

Also if we're playing the shape @Davefevssuggests I'd love to see Kane Wilson come good. As solid as Tanner's been, if we were playing that system long term we'd want a FB who offers more going forward imo, like Pring does on the left
