  1. Chris Martin tried, but he couldn't fix them
  2. God that old scoreboard makes me feel nostalgic
  3. 2 points a game from here on out would get us to 70 - that would be there or thereabouts you'd think. Big ask, but not impossible
  4. Elliason with a right foot!
  5. Good video found on the Sunderland forum. Fairer review than the title would suggest!
  6. People say he needs to add goals to his game....if he does that's a bonus. He doesn't need to. He's going to the top regardless. He's Modric. He's David Silva. He's the kind of player we've always lacked in this country. Keeps things ticking over. Does the simple stuff so well. So good technically, recieves the ball in tight spaces with ease. Picks the right pass at the right time with the right weight, always in front of his man. Not making a player check back or take a touch to get it under control, hitting them right in stride. Give it a few years he's going to compliment Bellingham so well in the England side
  7. We're playing good football at the minute and I'm optimistic about where we're headed but some of the revisionist history over LJ annoys me Sure it went stale towards the end and it was the right time to move on when we did but we played some great stuff for the first 2/3 years of his reign. 3-1 vs Villa, 4-1 vs Derby, 4-0 vs Sheff Wed, 4-0 vs Huddersfield (twice!), 6-0 vs Bolton, 4-0 away at Fulham... And that's not getting into the league cup run and the league run surrounding it 3 straight top half finishes, it wasn't all doom and gloom We very rapidly went from "a proper manager would get us promoted" to "without a proper manager we'd be relegated" once he'd gone. Says he did a better job than he was given credit for imo
  8. Answer my own question, Huddersfield have as well League 2: 2004 against Mansfield League 1: 2012 against Sheff Utd Championship: 2017 against Reading All on penalties after 0-0 draws. There's your (not so) interesting fact for the day
  9. Are they the only team that have won the playoffs in all three divisions?
  10. Fielding used to take a lot of stick but at least defenders knew where they stood with him, Flint especially. Bentley they've got no idea
  11. How many defenders have we signed under Pearson now? At some point the buck's got to stop with him. If LJ was in charge of this team the forum would be full of people saying he's clueless and we need to get a "proper" manager in
  12. Wtf is Bentley doing there? He's a major part of our defensive issues imo. So overrated because he makes the odd highlight reel reaction save. Hope Bajic is good enough to replace him in the near future
  13. You've rumbled me. I in fact work for the EFL as a Fixture Logistics Manager. You can set that date aside in your diary for Middlesbrough away, folks.
  14. But why leave it at that, is what I don't understand? What not set it as a basic requirement of registration to the league that you must file your accounts for each year prior to the end of the season - 31st April say. It's such an obvious, blatant loophole and it appears so easy to close
  15. Thing is, it shouldn't be left to us and Middlesbrough to make a stand about this, because then it will just look like sour grapes. Really, all 21 other clubs ought to be hammering on the EFL's door - even those who aren't competing for playoff places are still getting screwed over.
  16. Is it the case then that different clubs have different financial years on which they base their accounts? Given we're all operating in the same system and under the same restrictions, transfer windows, regulations etc, I struggle to see why that should be the case? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the date of the opening of the summer transfer window as the transition point to the next season, and have all clubs within our league system be required to file their accounts for each year up to that point? That way you wouldn't have the potential issue with backdated transfers as registrations wouldn't come into place and contracts wouldn't be made official until after then. And I'm no financial expert by any means but I don't see why that would be a difficult thing to enforce. Just have it as a basic requirement for a 'company' to be registered with the league they must file their accounts by a certain point, up to a certain point.
  17. Tell him he can have one so long as he wears a City shirt and sings "Matty Taylor is a red..." all game.
  18. We did alright at Ipswich without Korey, he says...tentatively. At least Little and Baker are back in
  19. Everyone very pessimistic, but worth pointing out they've suffered a real dip in form lately. Well beaten at Hull on boxing day and in their last 8 games they've only picked up 7 points (W1 D4 L3). An identical record to ourselves
  20. Bolton, poor side though they were, have been tough to beat at home - only lost once at the Reebok this season. Rotherham, on the other hand, have been shipping goals for fun. Ipswich put 5 past them the other week. We'll win. Easy
  21. From what I can make out it's "**** off Swindon Town. You are staying down. Flint said NO NO NO. NO NO NO"
