With few exceptions these days, they are frozen and then microwaved to within an inch.

So, freshly frozen is probably the answer (which goes for everything else most chip shops do).

Clarks pies are beautiful when fresh but awful when not

You been to a chip shop recently ?

The price of a pie in the concourse (with ST discount) isn't too far off chip shop prices these days.

Wouldn’t buy a pie in a chip shop personally, never know how fresh they are

Mowbray took over from Alex Neil, who was the manager who actually achieved promotion before jumping ship to Stoke.

So he did, my mistake, couldn't understand Neil doing that, he must be skating on this ice at Stoke

    Or…

a bad fit for Swansea a good fit for us in many respects.

Fair enough, it did seem an odd fit him going to Swansea, his comments before the Cardiff game would have gone down like a lead balloon

I really rate Mowbray, but I don’t see any way he follows Nige here.

I was a bit gutted Duff jumped from Barnsley to Swansea in the summer as I wanted to see whether next summer he would be the successor to Nige.

Funny how things / timings work out (or not).

Would love Mowbray here despite his age, played decent entertaining football at Blackburn and Sunderland despite the shit-show that LJ left him

This looks like the thread for me. I'm quite conflicted, I absolutely detested the decision to bin off Pearson (and the way it was handled) and I didn't warm to the idea of Manning, but I agree with both the OP's and @Harry's view of Saturday and treating Manning and performances objectively, I don't understand the overreaction on every other thread from people who I was united in anger with after NP's sacking.

Since the international break although it's 1 win and 2 defeats, I've seen a clear attempt at a new pattern of play that I recognise has the potential to be highly effective, we've dominated and looked comfortable for sustained periods against 3 good teams, and it's only our lack of form up front (Conway has had a boatload of chances) and lack of strength in depth to provide alternatives which has cost us better results.

At Southampton we were the better side first half and as has been well covered, we should have been easily ahead. They looked nervous and worried to commit bodies forward. It's nonsense that Manning has an issue setting up in second halves, Southampton actually adjusted (other teams can do this), pressed higher and committed extra bodies in attack which pinned us deeper and suffocated it after their goal.

On Saturday we were by far the better side for an hour, looked every bit a side that was going to jump to 7th, but again we wasted a majority of chances to put the game out of reach and by the second half we started to become careless and mishit relatively simple passes which is a complete no no for a possession building side. And then you concede 2 completely avoidable goals and the outlook is totally different.

A lot of the reaction to Manning seems to be about the style of play being boring. I really don't see it - if Conway takes a few chances I don't believe anyone is looking back at these last few games and feeling they were harder to watch. Yes we're not hitting the front early by going direct on the break, but equally we're controlling games and building complex passing moves and still creating at least as many chances.

I'm not sure how you'd argue one pattern of play is better or worse to watch than the other, in either case it's about taking chances and getting the results, we could be counter attacking at pace under NP and wasting the same chances and still losing these games. I assume a possession based passing game does at least in the long term offer us greater chance of success due to the ability to control football games.

All that said, Manning does not get a free pass. In places he is tinkering (trying to play Weimann and Mehmeti back into form), yet conversely he does not "go for it" the way NP had the balls to late in games. Why no Yeboah? If we weren't winning a game Pearson would add extra forwards - 3 at Millwall, 3 at Rotherham, both late wins. The comment about culture on Saturday was also a bit of meaningless deflection too.

    Great post

Need to watch / listen over a period and gauge.  I said he’s on autopilot going through his stuff, but I do think he’s genuine.  I think his principles and ethos have been built over a long period.  As you and others say it’s adapting a bit to what’s actually happened, moving out of comfort zone and still feeling in control that will be worth watching.

Blige, your posts come across as a bit desperate.  You can back LM and JL / Tins without having to bash Nige at every chance you get. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Why are my posts desperate ? I’m just giving my point of view and opinion, just because my views don’t tally with yours doesn’t make it “desperate”

Just for a bit of clarity though I think sacking NP when we did was the wrong decision and you’ll also not find a single post from me over the years where I’ve “backed” Tinnion.

The only thing I'm worried about is having to watch shit like today's week in week out for **** knows how long.

We’re well used to that though aren’t we, hopefully with a few new additions this new bloke can sort it out

Sorry. I’m a Nige fan. But the idea he installed a culture of winning is demonstrably not true. Culture of hard work. Culture of togetherness. Culture of good people. 100%. But we only won less than one out of every three games when Nige was manager.

Shhhh, you’re going to upset some people on here with facts like that

Why is it that whenever someone reacts to a defeat or poor performance, you and some others consider it "over-reaction"?

It is simply a reaction. That's the point of having a forum. Posters can criticise and praise.

You call it "over-reaction" simply because it challenges or contradicts your opinion/point-of-view/belief.

Bit like when Jon Lansdown said the fans "over-reacted" to the sacking of Pearson.

No, they didn't "over-react". They simply reacted.

He considered it an "over-reaction" because the blinkered/out-of-touch Lansdowns mis-read the room.

There are plenty of people of the opinion that Lansdown didn’t “mis-read the room” quick enough.

Right or wrong regarding NP it’s time to get behind the team instead of constantly whinging, I remember being in mourning for months in ‘91 when Jordan left us, trust me, it’s not good for your health !!!!!

I just want to see a football team on the pitch who create excitement and where I look forward to going back to the gate again. The more strings to Bristol Sport, the harder it becomes to sell...

Give Manning a bit of time and we might get a bit of excitement, you can’t expect to change 5 years of dross after just 4 games. The pessimism and negativity on this forum is unbelievable

Very few are going at Manning tbf. If the idiots in charge hadn’t talked about getting rid of the last manager to give us a greater chance of success, 70 minutes of utter dross today may not have provoked the reaction it has……..tbh it was a pain for me to get there today and if we had a game at 1.30pm next Sunday I would most likely give it a miss, regardless of who the Manager is.

Fair enough, but we have been watching dross for the last 5 years never mind 70 minutes today so let’s give the guy a chance and a bit of time

  13. Can’t believe the massive over-reaction on here, it’s as if some people are wishing for Manning to fail, remind me who our manager was when Norwich beat us very convincingly with their reserve team at AG earlier in the season? Manning has come in with Wells injured, “Pearson signing” Cornick, who is utter dross, Weimann, who is well passed it and two very young strikers in Conway and Bell who are struggling massively

It's not dishonest at all, especially given that was his 5th season at the club. Where every season he finished above where he picked the club up from. They had a poor season for sure, Manning's job at MK Dons is arguably worse because he picked them up at a higher point, and got sacked at a lower point.

Manning's job at Oxford and Taylor's job at Exeter respectively are very similar for their respective levels. The only difference is that Manning never actually achieved anything because he left less than a third into the league season. And frankly, he was extremely backed at Oxford. Taylor got Exeter back in League 1 for the first time in 10 years and left Exeter in 11th, which just to be clear would've been Exeter's second-highest finish ever. He shouldn't get full credit for that like Manning shouldn't at Oxford though, to be clear.

You dodged a bullet with Robinson, most over-rated manager around, shame he didn’t get the job

Because both clubs need to agree to it is my guess.

We were able to get Hull to agree to it because they requested we move their home game against us to the Friday.

From a footballing perspective it makes perfect sense to move the game forward to the Friday as gives longer recovery time ahead of the boxing day game.

If it's such a benefit then why don't every team agree to change to Friday night (like Swansea have done)

  16. 21 minutes ago, W-S-M Seagull said:

Yes and that's why the home game against them was switched to the Friday too.

For a fixture to be changed both clubs need to agree. Hull needed to move their home game against us to the Friday so we said OK but only if we move our home game against them to the Friday too.

Seems strange to me, no other team are moving their games just for the extra day off (bar Swansea)

That possibly makes me feel even more peeved about it!

    Thanks for the explanation.

I coach an Avon Youth league team on Sunday mornings, so no chance of getting there. Do you know if there's any way to swap a season ticket for Robins TV for the one game, or is it just pay again?

Lots of kids and dads will be at the kids football on Sunday morning/afternoon

Since 1904, Bedminster FC played there until 1897. We played at St John's Lane until 1897.

Apparently my gran always used to ask my dad "How did South End get on today" and that was thirty years after they moved to AG, she was born in 1878 !!!!

Last Saturday before Xmas always seen as the worst one for attendances.

Cliche of loads of blokes doing last minute Christmas shopping instead, I think.

Plenty of sides move their game the. to avoid, Swansea have done so too.

Last time i looked we are the only team in the FL that have moved their game from Saturday to Friday night, i would also imagine that a lot of people would of finished work early for xmas and the last place they are likely to be is at AG on a Friday night to watch Hull City !!!

Spot on. Would have worked as well as if they were playing the rugby over at the Millennium tomorrow, there’s a few of us who’d have gone over for the day.

So later on this month on Friday night 22nd will you be at AG for our game against Hull or will you be travelling up to Newcastle to watch Bristol play Newcastle Falcons? both kick off at 19:45
