  1. He's certainly proving many of us wrong, he consistently finds a way to get good performances out of players and he seems to know a lot about matching our players with the opposition's strengths/weaknesses/changes. That said, I think the original post is a good one. Strip away all the barking from everyone about we won what is there to criticise Johnson himself would be at the front of the queue to say there is always something to improve. And playing Fam - biggest threat: aerial in the box - with less crosses arriving on his bonce than other teams/than play to his best asset does seem da
  2. Dunno how old you are, Judd, but this 47 year-old is the equivalent of whatever 'buzzing' is for nearly-50-year-olds. Adding a couple of experienced players - arguably this being a missing ingredient in the last two seasons of near misses - is a tonic. Signing lots of young "hungry" players is all very well and good, plus will no doubt earn us a few bob soon enough, but a couple of older, well fed "everyone-calm-down-ok-we've-lost-eight-in-a-row-but-we-could-now-win-eight-in-a-row-(and-let's-bloody-hope-we-do)" are as welcome as any young gun.
  3. I think, on balance, he did totally make the most of his talent. If he had been clean, we could say he could/should have achieved more. However, given the fact, at the apex of his career, he used to party Sunday night till Wednesday then train that out of his system in the gym and on the training ground till Sunday morning - considering that, winning the WC by himself (and that's not an exaggeration) and lo scudetto twice with a provincial club who were up against the might/bribery of the northern Italian clubs, he performed and conquered pretty extraordinarily in a short space of time (85-91)
  4. Anyone got a picture of Keith when he was younger than the white-haired pic we always see of him? Wondering if being at the City for 23 years turns your hair white (obviously fans who've supported longer than that, myself included, can prove that but wondered if working there made you look different). Yes, I'm looking for a picture of early Dawes. Don't mention it.
  5. Exactly. There are so many threads that are opened better than this one. Bloke needs to have a word. And he said Nicky Tanner went to Liverpool! Check your stats!
  6. It's definitely because we're not the division's best (or second best, or third best, or [repeat until about seventh best']) - that's why we lose games. It's also because it's quite rare to not lose a game when you play a load of games, 46 being an excellent example of a 'number' of games. It is because it's sport and you can't win'm all, whether you change the bloody team or tictacs or you don't. We can over think this, Top Rob - and you're welcome to, this is a forum, after all - but given that it's generally identified the manager made a tit of things in previous years by doing exactly that
  7. Not at all and disagree. It is a cup final (of one sort or another) and let's hope the players do treat it like a bloody cup final! They might play well! If other teams have their 'big day out' and a 'massive game' against us then, what with us not being top of the pecking order of club sizes, this is our cup final!! It's a phrase. A metaphor. So we can give it whatphor. That said, I think there may have been an arched eyebrow in the opening comment. Still, you can't get through to everyone. Even using the lowest of the low senses of humour. Now, where's me tin foil league table to
  8. Appreciate you will have written comments more positively than this previous, but based on this one of yours we could start a thread doubting multiple players after every single game ever. It'd be nice if none of us could comment on players' ability until we have seen them in X number of games first, in order to form a rounded opinion (cue replies of Not on here, mate; this is a forum mate no chance...)
  9. You're ok, Kate, thanks. There's some washing for you, mind. Just mind you put some cardboard under it first.
  10. Isn't it just. Our player history is quite literally choc full of players who scored better than 1 in 2, kept us on track for promotion and got us to Wembley almost single-handedly (headedly). Weird, eh.
  11. What time was that, MAttWSM? I was in there 5-540, very few City fans let alone any Swansea (saw two leaving mouthing off about not being served, but the barman had clocked they were welsh and they were being dicks and they were Welsh).
  12. He may have played 5 times, may therefore technically be ex-gAss, but I really don't think anyone gave two hoots about that. Can't see why we'd have to/could dislike him. About as boo-able as Jon French.
