  1. I don't think Connolly could see him as he was facing the other way
  2. Yet in the game last night the Norwich keeper came flying out of the box to head the ball and completely flattened the Hull CF who had to go off with multiple injuries. Result? Free kick to Norwich!
  3. Looking at the league table they have an almost identical record to us, the same at home and only out by one in away games. The only difference is they've conceded quite a few more than we have, obviously when they lose they lose well!
  4. I'm over 65 in Lansdown Centre and only got charged £17, you should have been charged £15 as advertised, and didn't get charged the admin either.
  5. I have got my West Ham tickets. I notice that in my account there is an option to "add to mobile wallet", has anybody tried this? I'm a bit worried it might wipe out my Watford ticket. Pity there's no help on the system!
  6. We took a load to Leeds in the '74 cup match, and the '76 league opener at Highbury, don't know the exact figures but def over 9000 at Arsenal
  7. The firestick app won't install unless you have a premium VPN - I tried
  8. We maybe could save some money on those items you mentioned but it's not going to put much of a dent in our deficit surely? The major items on the balance sheet are player transfers and player wages.
  9. Glad you know more about finance than SL, impressive
  10. Surely if he speculates extra funds and the bet doesn't come off the accounts are in an even worse state? Isn't that what he tried with LJ?
  11. We're not much different to other Championship clubs, the players wage bill dominates the accounts. It's not going to make much difference making a few admin staff redundant.
  12. So how would you balance the books? Reduce the squad and wage bill further and risk being relegated? The only way to make money is to get to the Prem.
  13. Yes, good shots of the stadium, particularly the old "Cowshed" stand where the Dolman is now. There doesn't appear to be anything down the side where the Williams stand was/ Lansdown is now, was that due to bombing in the war, or was it just like that originally?
  14. Came across this film clip from British Pathe. It was the Gloucestser Cup Final held at Eastville on April 10th which Rovers won 1-0. The film isn't that good with sections upside down for some reason, I'm surprised it was filmed if it was Gloucester Cup but maybe it was more important in those days?
  15. It didn't help that their floodlights were so poor, there were several dark patches making it difficult for the cameras
  16. Birmingham have severe injury problems especially in defence yet their fans still expect to win, most thinking along the lines "If we can't beat Bristol at home then we're really in the s***", fans from other teams always look at us as an easy fixture regardless of how we're playing at the time.
  17. I know JL and Tins are getting slated by many on here but I can't see they've done much wrong. Regarding the last two managerial appointments most agree NP was a good choice at the time and although Manning is in the early stages of his City career this appointment is looking promising as well. I think it's more they don't come across too well in the media doesn't mean they're not competent though. Tins has also done great work with the Academy.
  18. If we repeat our performance levels against Watford (a big IF given recent performances at St Andrews) we could get Rooney sacked. Owners seem to think losing to us it the lowest of the low, we've caused sackings on a few occasions with good away wins.
  19. Sam Allison will be the first black referee to officiate a Premier League game today for the first time for 15 years. According to media stories he used to play for us, but I can't find anything about it online, I have no memory of him and I doubt he ever appeared for the first team. Can anyone else remember him being here?
  20. NP tends to fall out with the owners at some stage in nearly all the jobs he's had. His time at City was the second longest he'd survived anywhere (other than his second stint at Leicester) which suggests our owners had more patience than most of the others.
  21. Steve Lansdown is worth £2bn not £20bn , I'm glad the people quoting figures above aren't running the club accounts!
  22. He got the idea from Barcelona who have a similar set up
  23. Why does it matter if it's an "ego thing" or not? You're judging him as a person rather than a football club owner. How many top business people don't have an ego, I've certainly never met any. All that matters is he's helping the football club move forward on and off the pitch
  24. So to go back to my original question, which previous owners do you think have done better than the Lansdowns?
  25. I've been watching City for over 50 years and seen a few owners come and go. There have always been some supporters who moan about the owners whoever's been in charge. I believe the Lansdown family has done more than any others by a mile, so I would ask those complaining who do you think did a better job than the Lansdowns at BCFC in the last 50 years? You might say Harry Dolman, who was the owner when I started watching City, but many fans complained he didn't spend enough on signing players and called him "Scrooge", whoever's been in charge here there have been a few people complaining. I'd be interested to hear what people think about previous owners.
