There is nothing new in a left footed winger playing at outside right. The great Tom Finney was the best example.

And at City Jantzen Derrick was a right footer playing on the left wing.

Where the game changed dramatically was when Alf Ramsey changed tactics when he made the touchline huggers do more defensive work. Working with the full backs and wing halves to lessen opponents attempts on their own goal.

The game of football changed forever from one in which the idea was to score goals, goals and more goals to being very happy to win 1-0 every match.

Ideal for those coaches who can't think for themselves. We have the perfect example at Bristol City.

That’s 60 ago years the games changed again since then! Stats are increasingly important the gps that the players were these days have analysts studying where players are on the pitch when they are most effective and  where they’re are not effective.

They go as deep as percentages on corners inswigers are more effective than outswingers, but the percentages on both are low!

What has happened to wingers in the Prem and Championship.

They get the ball and if the fullback is within 10 yards they play inside or backwards. A good winger, if he is not tackled before getting the ball under control should be able to take on and beat his man 40% of the time when he only has 1 marker. Even if he gets a throw further up the pitch it's OK.

A lot of the excitement used to come from these unpredictable tricksters.

It seems now that is totally coached out of them and unless they get the ball with 25 yards of space in front of them they play it safe.

The best way to disrupt a well organised defence is to beat 1 player and run at the defence.

One thing of beauty was to watch Alex Scott receive the ball under pressure and simple breeze past his marker. How many free kicks did we get and chances came about due to the chaos it caused.

I just find our style of play so b***dy boring.

Stats happened, someone somewhere down the line pointed out the a left footer playing on the right cutting inside creates better chances cutting inside than a traditional winger going on the outside! Can’t remember the article I seen it in though!

Poor kid -  maybe he should have just let him go with his mates anyway?

Altogether now  "My old man said be a Rovers fan! - I said......."

Got to be tantamount to child abuse, imagine forcing a kid to become one of them deluded fools when he could’ve grown up with a bit of sense with his mates!

  4. After building some bridges with their open statement the other day they have smashed a sledgehammer straight into that bridge with this decision.

I'm honestly flabbergasted as to who thought it was a good idea to not have young kids tickets for sale at our FAMILY CLUB.

Between me and my mates we have 14 season tickets between us, adults and kids. They have just lost all those 14 in one fell swoop.

Who are these people who own us and when are they going to **** off so we can get our club back. Wael you have to step in here and sort this sh** out. You can't be happy with this.

I've spent years dragging my kid down the mem when he wanted to go down the gate with all his mates instead. The pricing structure has allowed me to do this and now we have a gashead for life. How is that going to be achievable in future years for future children when they can go down the gate all season and have a free shirt for £50. Disgraceful.

Without resorting to personal abuse, @BS3_RED stated “if watching City pisses you off this much you can go and watch the gas, you won’t be missed” thereby stating that anyone against his/her post was a rovers fan. Life is a bit more nuanced than that! @IdliketoRogerMoore was clearly being sarcastic, but that nuance was lost.So far from me needing to “learn to read” or others being “idiots”, it might be appropriate, y’know, not to be a dick in the opening post?

Turns out I left the hob on, I’ve avoided a disaster I’ve turned it off now!

I've never seen so many people moan as I have since manning took charge.  Some of the flack he has took is a joke. New to this standard and club it would always take a bit of time.  We have put good performances in the cup and if we can replicate that in the league we will do well.  Watford away was outstanding and today was also pretty spot on from the small part i watched ( I was working today)

I really think that people are giving him the flack for decisions that are beyond his control (NP sacking).

We are safe this season, so just sit back, shut the fck up and lets see what happens in August.

    EDIT

Oh and if you want to slag me off for daring to see things different, go ahead. I could not give a shit.

If watching City really pisses you off that much, you can always go and watch the sags. You wont be missed.

I just wondered about the ancillary (essential) facilities, presume portaloos can squat in place for a hundred years too ?

Pretty squalid and poor town planning.

Portaloos aren’t a permanent fixture either even cabin toilets can still be crane away as far as I’m aware there are building nothing permanent as in something that will need to need demolished, every thing can be unbolted and taken away to be used somewhere else!

the tents they had were classed as a temporary structure even though they hadn’t taken them down in years!

  9. 11 hours ago, Natchfever said:

Haha true but no portaloos 😁

Actually is that stand even deemed temporary as they somehow got planning consent.

Temporary means it can be easily demounted and removed! It can be there for a hundred years and still be classed as temporary! Our fairly recent stadium upgrades are properly permanent because it can be unbolted!

Still not a sell out come on gimps get you act together very embarrassing

Been sold out for a couple days, they ****** up though by not letting season ticket holders get first dibs so they’re trying to fit them in somewhere!

Part of me wants them to go up. Bring back Bristol derbies. Badly missed.

No thanks we have nothing to gain from beating them if we do beat them we’re supposed to beat them because we’re bigger and spend more money and god forbid we lose you’ll never hear the end of it!

I’d rather they went bust and we never have to hear about them again. The fact that there children and and grandchildren would likely become City fans would give me more satisfaction than any league victory!
