  1. Can't really disagree with any of that. I suppose ultimately it all boils down to the trust that SL has with JL to run the club in the best possible way. At this juncture, it's very much looking like someone else could do a better job, but saying that, when SL had other CEO's running the club he had his fingers burnt - so I suspect there are trust issues there.
  2. I can categorically say that I am NOT suggesting the Lansdown's heart hasn't been in it, because I think they have put a lot of time, effort and money into the club, I just feel they're just losing their sense of direction nowadays and aren't reading the room any more. I'm merely commenting on Scott Davidson's previously putting his heart into the roll. Please don't infer it any other way.
  3. Not sure if this is the correct thread to be placing this comment, but I wonder if Scott Davidson would be open to coming back as Chairman, with JL moving into a different position i.e. President etc. Always thought that Scott had the ambition and communication skills for the role. He never got things 100% right, but his heart was in the right place, and he's still heavily involved with various Bristol City related projects still.
  4. Not too sure I should be posting this, as I would be one of the fans severely affected by this suggestion, but here goes nevertheless. Next season, if we have a home cup match in the league cup, how about making the whole of South South unreserved seating - still guarantee season ticket holders can get a ticket in that stand, but make it unreserved. The likelihood is that the game won't be a sell out, so we should be able to absorb the 10% less tickets available. It might just be the ideal test bed to see if there's a demand for unreserved seating in that stand?
  5. I've decided to delete my comment, as it was a cheap shot and not very nice.
  6. Just reading back this thread, a couple people mentioned Steve Lansdown was in attendance yesterday. Can I ask, is that unusual? With not being able to see the centre executive box from the South Stand, it's rare for me to know is SL is in attendance or not?
  7. I'm glad you mentioned that. Bath Rugby I believe, after a torrid number of years, brought in someone to evaluate their club...might have been a consultant or someone from Saracens (I'm not entirely sure as i dont follow rugby in too much detail), but since that process a year or so ago, their performances have been much better, and they're towards the top end of the table. Question is though, from a footballing perspective, who would you choose? Maybe the Brighton owner? Dunno
  8. Why does it have to be someone new? Swallow his pride, and Lansdown needs to go and get back the previous coaching set up. Our squad has been built for their philosophies, so let's attempt to get things back on track. I'm suspecting there's been some "tensions" between NP and others, so look to resolve those, either by letting someone go, change/revert their positions, or recruit accordingly. Can't we make Jon Lansdown an honourary president or something, and bring in a proper chairman? Likewise, bring in a proper experienced CEO and get Tinnion back to what he's good at.
  9. Exactly this. It was right footer crossing, so the wall could've stepped once to the left with two people in it. Reminded me of the goal Liverpool scored vs Forest last weekend in injury time. So it should've been fresh in our players minds.
  10. If they did eat humble pie and genuinely admitted they got it wrong, and brought back NP, I'd be fine with it. In some ways they'd be building a lot of bridges with the fans. I do accept that there will be fans, who would label them and never accept the back tracking. What I will say, is that none of the other managers I can remember in my time (since ~1989 for me) from following City week-in, week-out has EVER played the amount of Academy players that NP did. Tinnion argues that he want's to see a pathway from academy to the 1st team, but all I'm seeing is retrospective backward steps !! Sure, I'd still want to see new signings, whether that's for NP or LM, but I also want to see the level of academy players come through like we saw during NP's reign, and under LM that doesn't appear to be happening.
  11. The club honestly needs to be arguing back to them. Make both games a Saturday only, or Sunday only, and make it a 1:30\2pm kick off. Minimise the amount of disruption to local grass roots.
  12. I coach an U14s youth team. A lot of my players are season ticket holders, and likewise our opponents next Sunday are season ticket ticket holders also, and so a 10:30am kick off for us makes a 12:30 kick-off vs Swansea extremely difficult. All week we've been scrabbling around trying to rearrange next weeks fixture to another day, but with the snow\rain on the weekend just gone cancelling fixtures, the likelihood of the Avon Youth League allowing us to have a free Sunday next week is probably non-existent!! Therefore we've changed our tact and we're now looking at an early kick-off of 9:30am, but that still doesn't help any fans who are upwards of U15's and kick off at 2pm. I don't know who signs off of the kick off days and times at City, but with 12:30 kick off's on a Saturday followed by a 12:30 kick off on a Sunday the following week isn't doing anything to help the grass roots junior footballers who play on weekends. Talk about burning the bridges with all the Saturday and Sunday league footballers !!!
  13. Fundamentally, if we brought someone in to help LM, they'd want to introduce their idea's, riding roughshod over LM's views - basically, it wouldn't supplement LM, but effectively be a new manager! If LM is the student of the game that he alludes to, then he needs to study the approach where we've had our most successful results this season i.e playing 4 at the back, playing 433, fast\pressing\counterattacking football. Caveat: Think we're screwed without Sam Bell myself, so we may have to revert to a top two of Wells\Conway, or maybe play Conway, Wells, and\or Sykes\Knight\Mebude as a front pressing 3. All he needs to do, is get through to the summer, and then all his new signings can be brought in, and all the old guard can be sent on their way. The buck will well and truly rest on his, Tinnion's and Jon Lansdown's shoulders then though.
  14. Nope, If I was Jon Lansdown, I'd stop acting chicken, swallow my pride and get back the previous coaching regime. Quick question, are we still paying them off?
  15. Diedhiou was also offered apparently the highest ever contract according to Mark Ashton at the time, and he still never signed it, which implied to me he'd already checked out of remaining with us.
  16. I saw today that Griffin Park used to have a 14,000 capacity terrace behind their goal called the royal Oak end, that helped contribute to an overall capacity of 38,000 back in the day. That terracing eventually got replaced with that small two tiered stand behind the goal.
  17. Bit meh for me. Probably won't boo, unless he scores and gives it to us. Most likely be a polite round of applause before the match and then noting else during it. I appreciate his goals for us over the years, but didn't appreciate him downing tools in the last few months of his time with us.
  18. I see similarities between what Sean O'Driscoll was asked to do, and what Nigel Pearson was asked. Both were asked to save us from the downward slope, and at the same time go through a cost cutting exercise as the coffers were bare. At no time during the season NP took over (or the following season) we're we ever really close to relegation. In hindsight he kept us comfortably above relegation working with the players he had at his disposal. All the while, he was trimming the fat, and slowly and gradually improving us. We went from a long ball\target man style of football by playing the ball up to Chris Martin to slowly transforming into a counter attacking side. Before he left us, I was starting to see the shoots of him trying to turn us more into a possession based side, but he was aware that we didn't have those players available at the time, hence why he was so disappointed to lose Alex Scott and not have a replacement come in. Even NP back in the day said things weren't progressing as quickly as he would've liked - but he was aware of the trajectory the team was on. In fact no, not just the team, but the club as a whole. In comparison, we went down with a whimper under Sean O'Driscoll (and previously the same with Derrick McInnes) - so I cannot understate how good a job NP did for us. I'm happy to give Manning his chance, and he started off alright-ish. I could see a pattern of play, and how everyone knew what their jobs were coming out of defence, being patient by recycling play when options weren't on, when to press, and when to go long with that killer ball. However, the last two games, we've lost our way - tbh, I thought the first half of QPR was ok - by the second half, and the substitutes he brought on didn't change our approach at all, it was more of the same but with lesser players. I agree to extent what a few people have been saying. We lack that plan B under Manning, it's just a case of "we'll play my way, and my way only", and he just makes like for like changes. The only time I've seen a change from that approach was a few weeks ago, when he reverted to two back up top midway through a game, was it Coventry away?? Sam Bell being injured is gonna impact us massively, as he's the only one with lightening pace (Mebude aside) who can really scare the opposition. I think someone mentioned on another thread. We've had our best results when we've played 4 at the back, and so LM needs to get back to that, and to play fit players - without the stating the obvious too much !!
  19. I must say, I love seeing these different pictures of John Atyeo. It would be great if there was a pinned thread where all the photo's could be recorded of him. After all, he is arguably the greatest ever Bristol City player. A lot of the time, it's the usual pictures you see of him, but this one is a bit different, and I like it
  20. It would make sense to maybe put terracing down the TV gantry side of the pitch, and behind the goals, that's three or four steps deep. I suppose the bigger issue would be other things like, having turn-styles, crowd control barriers\gates, planning permission, and suitable travel arrangements
  21. I quite like the sound of that, as without thinking about it too much, seems to calculate a proportional representation of how your defence compares to your attack. Is there any downfall to this calculation compared to goal difference, or goals scored etc?
  22. I agree with all of this: - Train here....tick - Play competitive games for Bath....tick - Play midweek matches for U18s\U21s....tick Exception being: - NOT TRAIN with the 1st team....FAIL !!
  23. Just been reading it, shocking! I can understand loaning him out to get the game time, but equally, whilst he's still training with us on a day to day basis, why don't they keep him around the 1st team rather than drop him down?!
  24. Over the years, Tinnion has been vociferous in us using academy kids and telling managers to do so. Now that Manning has been appointed by him, and Tinnion's head is on the block with regards to the new manager and new signings, I wonder if he'll be quite so keen for all the academy players to play now? I'm certainly not seeing it at the moment as it appears we're looking to new signings rather than bringing anyone through.
