  1. The local media should really challenge this sort of BS, it seems to get regularly spouted by whichever cretin they are currently calling their manager. In the FIFTY SEVEN seasons since 1966 they have had a larger average attendance in only one season (in 1983); At this time their manager was most likely having to have his nappy regularly changed! However he should never let facts get in the way of a good soundbite to try and appease the dribbling morons they call fans after being turned over by mighty Crawley.
  2. If anyone has a spare ticket going please DM me here - I live in Southampton a short-ish walk from St Marys. and was unable to secure a ticket myself.
  3. Was it Carl Shutt that tripped celebrating a goal and headbutted the advertising hoardings in front of the East end? maybe non-intentional but sort of iconic
  4. If ever there was a game where both teams deserved to lose this was it Possession is nothing without any sort of a cutting edge. We looked devoid of ideas in the final third, QPR arguably even worse up front.
  5. Some sobering thoughts.... Lampard might be the sort of manager to help attract investement? What if the infamous "nest egg" was not to be saved, but was actually to be handed to the next manager with a view to having another push towards PL (with a few more restarints than LJ/MA days)
  6. Something I am finidng hard to reconcile: The SL only wants a "yes man" narrative, and SL's obvious success as a buisnessman. It is almost inconceivable that he was an instrumental part of building a multi billion pound business WITHOUT employing at least a few people that he didn't see eye-to-eye with, or a few people in areas in which he himself had no skills. Just to be clear the yes man argument on the face of it appears strong (hence me being conflicted). but I do wonder if there is something more to this...
  7. This last sentence cannot be liked enough!
  8. The prophet joe strikes again - utter cretin!
  9. "Keith stroud" "pretty sound" ? Two phrases you never expect to read in the same paragraph. We can only hope it holds largely true until 5pm.
  10. He could also have been fuming at the utter ineptitude of the ref? I missed his substitution and reaction when watching (probably checking otib). But he was one of several players getting righly pissed off with the refs "decisions".
  11. When this happened with Bailey Wright I seem to recall that he was banned for the weekend game. I suspect this to follow the same path.... Bailey's current club in Singapore are preparing for his absence
  12. Ironically is not a foul in rugby too? - tackling a player without the ball
  13. Some of the most baffling and infuriating officiating I have ever seen. Sky pointed out that Wells was booked for dissent after TC's first goal I presume he went up to the ref and gave him a piece of his mind (probably along the lines of "try and chalk that one off you f'ing cheat!") Last nights ref (and his assistants) looked like people with zero interest in football had won a "be a championship match official for the day" competition. Absolutely clucking flueless.
  14. In football its a foul for using hands. Irony is in rugby it would also be a foul for tackling someone without the ball.
  15. On the subject of planning permission (apologies link here is not directly football related!) - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66934296 TLDR - A fully completed block of flats in woolwich has been ordered to be torn down as the final building did not match the designs closely enough Lets hope such a recent precedent (and on a major project) is at the fore front of the minds of the planning comittee when they review the plans vs the reality for their stand.
  16. Maybe but they are a very good side and could pick us off if we press poorly.
  17. Whoever originally invented the half and half scarf needs locking up!
  18. It's hard to tell from the crap "fag packet" sketches provided in the planning permission documents. But it definitely looks a lot bigger than what was proposed. Here's hoping the planning committee don't appreciate being given the bird (metaphorically speaking) and ask them to tear it down.
  19. I am not convinced that their owners would put in even 1/10th of that!! How does the sovereign wealth fund work? - is it available to freely use for all low-grade restauranteurs in kuwait?
  20. If OTIB were a nation, moaning would be the national sport
  21. As you say it looked VERY reminiscent of us in our first few months. It's definitely not like they were bad with the ball; they made chances and threatened a bit, and with better finishing the game could have been closer. However, as soon as we got the ball and moved forward they looked very open, there were gaps evrywhere and their players were not really working hard enough to recover. I think they will be alright and stay up, but if they have injuries to key players they could be in for some nervous times. Especially evident since the side we saw them play in the first half was as according to their fans largely their second string due to the 7 changes. The side that ended the game for them was better - You'd assume schumacher will have learnt his lesson.
  22. In the earlier incident Yeboah fouled the player (No card) then Tanner kicked the ball away and rightly got a card.
