  1. Yep - very few people call circuses "corporate entities" - perhaps also you should bear in mind which club was piping in crowd noise over the PA before trying to call us soulless? I am hoping your poxy team of prison dodgers go back to getting rinsed by Acrington, Exeter, Morecambe and Fleetwood soon. I suspect we wont see you on here then.
  2. PPE? he did have to spend 45 minutes in front of their supporters!
  3. To also come back on what was said about so few chances/shots created against Millwall last weekend This is last seasons defensive stats sorted by xGA (a larger sample size ?) - Millwall were the best non-promoted side defensively last season.
  4. It is hard to argue that up front we are lacking physicality in our front line. But in fairness to others posting (/critiquing) on this thread I think it is also hard to read the first post as anything other than a call to spend significant sums of money in that "specialist" role. - "Mr lansdown it’s time you loosened the purse strings and allowed for a major signing up front,a forward who can hold the ball up and bring players in" Given our play style up front, spending significantly on such a player (and potentially destroying our hard won lower wage structure in process) seems at best risky and at worst Ashton-esque. Maybe the club see Seb Palmer Holden as this option in future? - in the meantime they are perhaps ok with what we have options wise? The rest of the window could be interesting, but I won't be too upset if we arrive on Sep 1st with the same players we now have in the squad. Arguably the money we have could be better spent on rewarding and tying down, Zak, Pring, Bell & Conway for a few more years.
  5. What evidence do you have for this? Uhhhhm ..... and what about salaries of the players bought and sold? That "£40M shift" is not profit BTW. It's been MORE than consumed in salaries in that period, probably a few times over. You do realise that without sales of Semenyo (and Soctt) we would have quite likely been facing a points deduction and having a transfer embargo about now?
  6. Over dinner i was wondering if our record against these two sides is actually as bad as i recall. Answer: Pretty much yes, though 2 wins against Preston last season make it look a bit better.
  7. Normally against BOTH teams we'd be reading stuff post match along the lines of - we got bullied, too physical for us, didn't allow us to play our game. It's nice to get these 2 fixtures out of the way with 4 points to our name.
  8. Especially given that Keith Stroud is "refereeing" the game.
  9. If we get to the premier league we will be "fishing in a different pond" to now, BUT because of that we will still not necessarily be seeing players at their peak. Simply put the kind of players we would be shopping for in the premier league, if we got there, would be either younger and have room to grow, or older and past their peak. For the younger players if they have a good season they will be off to A top six premier league side or Europe. Brighton are a case in point here, a brilliant season (well beyond the "premier league survival" we would hope for) and they get picked apart by the big clubs.
  10. It's classy for maybe the 1st 1L after that it can go downhill rapidly. At 5L it can turn into a right mess.
  11. Stuck in a tent on North Devon coast for this one. Antoni has been battering us since around midnight. Internet service patchy so no stream possible today. I will stick to refreshing this mdt every few minutes, so keep it entertaining! Team looks strong, including bench. Like others I'd have gone with sykes over cornick. However cornick was very good last weekend at pompey imo
  12. As a resident of Southampton living very close to the Ferry terminal I cordially disagree. Surely the USA has a perfectly servicable Newport? - Shouldnt affect their gates either "watch them from the pavements" and all that!
  13. That would still require the blue few to actually turn up in the sort of numbers that they have not witnessed for over 70 years!! Bear in mind, at championship level, our average gates of over 20K are not really "sustainable" without a benefactor. I see no fundamental or structural reason why they would be better off in this regard, even if they were located at the fruit market. They may claim support equal or better to ours but many years of evidence does not back this up.
  14. Ok let me rephrase - is there anything with the standard number of fingers and toes that connects the investor with the Sovereign Wealth fund? If he was important enough to have access to said fund he would not be "anonymous" online.
  15. Am I missing something here? Is there anything that connects their rumoured Kuwaiti investor with the Sovereign Wealth Fund?
  16. It will announced in the next few days by their 3 new signings wearing it sat together in their new stand!!
  17. from https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules--regulations/efl-regulations/section-5--fixtures/ Note the part that says "The League may, on the prior written application of a Club, suspend this Regulation" - I wonder if they have done this or were hoping to do it after the first half dozen games.
  18. Unless you are a sprinter my guess is the "facing him" part lasts around a second, the rest of the time you will be watching his back ? The options and combos on the left side look very interesting.
  19. Araoye looks to have the physique to do well in the game in future. Very unlucky not to score today. I wonder if they will keep him around or loan him out - I expect he could do a good job for a L1/L2 side.
  20. I hope they get this resolved by september....... september 2026 that is!
  21. Are you suggesting that "facts" thrown around by the fewers are grade-A Bulls**t? I was told they were everyone's 2nd team - but this whole planning fiasco has made me wonder ?
