Gow's first game was at Charlton last match of 1969-70 season. I guess that there weren't many City fans at the Valley that day.

Similar ending to this season. 5 defeats and three draws and we finished 14th in Second Division. Not much has changed!

Ah, I guess it was his first home game then as I didn't go to away games in those days.

  2. Not sure about that but I do remember a similar picture with him and Frankie Prince.

I remember Gerry's first game for City when he broke into the team as a youngster.  Not often you see a youngster hit the ground running like he did and he was good enough right from the start.  He had a lot of great attributes as well as being a destroyer in the middle of the park, he also had a bit of skill, could pick out passes and popped up with quite a few goals too.

My favourite player ever to put on a City shirt by some margin, even though there have been a lot of other excellent ones over the years.

Low Block, create next to nothing unless we get a set piece right, put in some effort, comfortable 1-0 or 2-0 loss. Bit of moaning tomorrow but everyone then having eyes firmly peeled on Monday where yet another defeat would be the end of Manning. That's how I see it.

It should be, but it won't be.  I'm afraid we will be stuck with the cockwomble for the duration.

Sell all our best players, replace them with dross then sack an experienced manager who had the support of the fans and replace him with someone clearly way out of his depth.  Well that's a £1,000 worth of season tickets that won't be renewing here - and how many others are feeling the same.

The club is going backwards and I can't see any signs of this changing for the foreseeable.

  4. Can't honestly say that I am looking forward to another game of Manningball and what will probably be our 6th defeat in the last 7.  That said, these are the types of games we seem to do better in so we will probably defend for 90 mins and score in the 5th minute of injury time to take all 3 points.

  5. Whether we ever get a DOF or not, I would like to see someone who understands how to create and score goals as opposed to the 11 behind the ball, defending and keeping it tight at the expense of ever going forwards mentality that we currently seem to have.  If this continues, fewer and fewer people will want to pay to watch a mid to lower Championship side playing this style home and away week after week, especially if we end up in a relegation scrap or even worse next season.

Our finances will not improve either as we have now sold all of our crown jewels and have nobody left that anyone else would want to pay good money (or any money) for.

I'm not sure I've seen the club looking more like a rudderless and sinking ship for a very long time.

still hoping to see a thrilling game, although I'm ready to be disappointed.

About as much chance of that than of a meteor dropping on The Mem, I'm afraid.  People don't want to watch their team losing every week, especially when they are playing Manningball backwards, sideways hoof up the field and give the ball away for 90 minutes.

Love your 6th word. Not according to your poster boy.

Actually, you've put so many words into one sentence, you've outed yourself.

    You are Liam Manning.

Not possible.  He used the word 'passion'.

  8. Bill Shankly always told his players to play their football in their opponents half and Brian Clough told his that football is a simple game - all you need to do is score more goals than the other team.

I wonder what Liam Manning tells his players because either they don't understand or it's complete bollocks.  The words excitement, entertaining, forwards, flair and unpredictability are probably not in his vocabulary.

  9. Whilst we probably have enough points not to be troubling the bottom 3, based on current form, that might not still be the case by the last game of the season.

The only thing that makes this unlikely is that those in the bottom 3 are unlikely to pick up many points either.

Unlikely or mathematical scenarios have happened before though, like the time the Sags were dumped out of the football league 😀

  10. It's the last 6 which is worrying me:

    LLLLWL

And I fear we could be crucified on Good Friday.

At least there might be a chance of a Resurrection Easter Monday.

  11. Who knows if Mebude is any good as we've hardly seen anything of him.  Surely he can't be any worse than Mehmeti?

It does seem an odd signing though if he isn't deemed good enough to play even if we are probably only paying his wages.

Maybe the lad is a flair player and we haven't managed to coach it out of him yet.

  12. When you keep losing, people start to lose interest.  When you keep losing because you are not even trying to win, people just give up.

With the current ownership and management, you can only see things going in one direction which is why the fans and even the players seem to have lost belief.  There doesn't even see much hope to fall back on either.

As others have said, SL will not listen until he sees the outcome in his back pocket, which is why 2 more of us won't be renewing for next year. The board can give Manning as much time as they want, but we have decided that we won't be paying to watch it.  The bloke is clearly way out of his depth and that translates into performances, motivation and belief.

There are much cheaper and more enjoyable ways of wasting your life.

  13. When the tactics involve losing week after week, when do the players stop believing in the tactics.

    Or have they already!

Unfortunately, it looks like sacking Pearson was a major blunder and appointing this bloke has been a disaster.  I hate to say "we told you so".  I can't ever, in nearly 60 years of supporting City remember the fans being so furious about letting a manager go - and you can see that we are getting angrier with every week that passes.

What did he do in the 20 matches before that?

I think Semenyo always had the raw potential - the power, the hunger, the desire.

I respect that other opinions on Anis are available. But I'm pretty confident in saying the following: Anis Mehmeti will never play a significant role in a team that finishes in the top 6 of the Championship.

    I don't think he's good enough.

I doubt he even play a significant role in a team that finishes in the bottom six either.

Anyone know if Qatar is paying megabucks for this, and whether those bucks are being transparently spent in the global game?

I would imagine bribery is involved somewhere with a smattering of corruption.

  16. Jay is about as Welsh as my big toe.  I bet he can't even sing their National Anthem or speak any Welsh.  It's getting beyond ridiculous.

I certainly don't expect him to be donning wellies and chasing sheep around a field, which I thought was a prerequisite. He might be coming round the mountains though for all I know.
