  1. I'm up for 90 minutes of singing that if my voice doesn't give out.
  2. Maybe, but I bet they didn't expect the strength of the backlash or the level of support the fans are giving to NP. Nor do they seem to fully appreciate that he was slowly building the foundations to push us towards the top of the table even without any money or support from above.
  3. We want Nigel back, we want Nigel back. or We want Pearson back, we want Pearson back. Sack the board, sack the board, sack the board. Most of us are so livid about this, I hope it turns ugly. SL and JL are both well aware of how we feel, but by the sounds of it, couldn't care less.
  4. Not sure he is qualified to comment with his record for violence.
  5. Add that Semenyo and Scott were sold for big bucks. Got high earners Jay DiSilva, Dan Bentley and Tomas Kalas off the books and gave reduced contracts to a few others and failed to invest in the squad. Sacked the manager when he could not fight at the top with a threadbare and injury ravaged squad and had to play with kids. The truth my friends is that NP spoke his mind and said that the way that the board were behaving was not in line with his ambition for the team and the board decided that they didn't have the same ambition, sacked him and will appoint a yes man to manage the team. Reminds me very much of the way that The Kremlin is run at the moment.
  6. My own preference is for John Eustace as I was impressed with what he was doing at Brum and previously as Stevenage. Mark Robins, maybe as he has done well at Coventry on a shoestring and he will be lucky to get even a shoestring if he comes here. My guess is that Eustace felt that he could not do the job without a bit more than a bootlace but Robins might come if the money and conditions are right. I can't say that any of the others who have been mentioned or are apparently in the frame appeal to me at all and I don't see anyone as good as Nige likely to be joining us. Having shot ourselves in the foot on numerous occasions we have shot ourselves in both feet this time. No wonder Nige is walking around on crutches.
  7. Maybe Curtis Fleming, as we know Steve no longer wants to put his hand in his pocket (though to be fair, a football club is a bottomless pit when it comes to spending cash).
  8. I would be very surprised if Steve or his minime would dare to show their faces on Saturday. They will get a pretty rough reception if they do.
  9. Whilst there may be perfectly good reasons for sacking Nigel, as long as Steve won't tell us what they are, we have to assume that it was based on recent results (which we all know is bollocks). I don't think I can ever remember in nearly 60 years of being a City supporter ever seeing such a huge backlash against the sacking of a manager (and I don't mean just in Bristol). It's notmally the other way around. Nigel had the club going in the right direction with no money, all his best players being sold, a small squad mainly consisting of youngsters and two hands tied behind his back. Just imagine what he could have achieved with a bit of support). They must have someone in mind to replace him, though I honestly can't think of anyone better, who is available, we could afford or would ever want to work with those scoundrels. A decent manager will not come unless he is promised some funds and it would be really galling if that were to happen. So in reality we must expect a promotion from within or a third rate manager who has been a repeated failure elsewhere (and my money is on the latter). Look out for the fans chanting "We want Pearson back, we want pearson back" on Saturday along with "Sack the board, sack the board, sack the board" irrespective of how well we play against the absolutely worst team in the Championship at the moment and heaven forbid if they beat us. Has anyone spoken to any of the players to see how they feel about it?
  10. Could always see that the board did not want the club to be premier league. Now it looks like they don't even eant us to be in the championship and Nige was the only one keeping us there. A proper manager and probably the best we have had in years. He would have got us promotion had he been supported by the board. Rarely have I seen a set off football fans so incensed by a decision to sack their manager and rarely have I seen a manager who despite being unable to achieve a lot with his hands tied behind his back has got the fans backing in such a big way.
  11. Well, I hope we will all be singing Nigel Pearson's name on Saturday along with "Sack the board". Along with most of you here, I am sickened by this terrible news.
  12. This is the worst decision ever by the board of BCFC. With a bit of investment and a little support from above, Nige had us going in the right direction, especially as he has had to make do without Senenyo, Scott, Bentley, Kalas etc. and had to make do with a tiny squad made up largely of untried and tested youngsters. I hope they have a plan in place and somebody lined up because Nige could have been our best manager in years to be able do keep us where we are with one, if not two hands tied behind his back. What on earth is happening to our football club. Have the Lansdowns gone stark raving mad? Reading through this thread, it seems that there are not many who think we have done the right thing at all. Of course, things go on behind the scenes that none of us are aware of, so something bad may have happened to precipitate this.
  13. New manager will either be someone who has been in prison or someone with the name of a prison.
  14. The pitch was a mess from all of the recent rain and rugby and what were they doung 15 minutes before the game? Watering it when it clearly needed drying out.
  15. Well if SL or his mini me don't open talks fairly quickly, Nige will be looking at other options and he may be off at the end of the season whether they want him gone or not Whilst I don't like him much based on the way he deals with yhe media, he seems to have created a culture and work ethic in the club which was sadly lacking before he came. He has brought on some youngsters and has lost a few of his best players. He is also hamstrung by a small squad and reduced wage budget. Even against this backdrop he has managed us up to 8th place in the division and in my view done a very good job with more than one hand tied behind his back and clearly deserves a new contract, whether it be for another year, two years or a rolling 12 months. It would be such a shame if he left when he is still probably only half way through a pretty ling term project and other than the journos he has upset I haven't really heard a bad word said against him from anyone who really counts. Maybe the Lansdowns want a yes man and Nigel is inclined to say, or at least insinuate, what he thinks but I think it would be a big mistake to let him go as things stand.
  16. Let them win the world cup. Allow Putin take the applause then arrest the bar steward and take him to The Hague to be tried for genocide.
  17. Should be a banker away win and whilst no game in the championship is easy, I hope we do not think we have won the game again when we go 2-0 up and stroll around to lose 3-2 again. The Stoke game showed that we have a serious problem with our mentality and it's not the first time we have "fooked it up two nil" is it.
  18. Well RobinsTV won't be working tonight as the Rotherham game is on SKY so I guess it's going to have to be a dodgy stream for many of us. Still RobinsTV is little better than a dodgy stream at times. The major advantage is that you don't have to listen to Downsy wittering on. Correction: I now see that it is on RobinsTV but you will have to be very careful which country you fly to.
  19. Brighton, Bournemouth and Luton are all teams with a lower league history who managed to get promoted, though for Luton, it will probably be for only one season. We are a bigger club that any of them were and had higher attendances and income, so on that basis, promotion to the Premiership is clearly possible. However the desire and funding needs to come from the top and I'm afraid I can see no sign of either at present. That said, SL has invested a huge amount in the club and does not have unlimited funds, so has probably come to a place called stop until an outside investor can be found and none of us know how likely this is. But money alone does not guarantee success.
  20. I get the feeling that he thinks he's put enough money into the football club already and doesn't intend to put any more in. Also bear in mind the HL shares he has left are only worth about a third of what they were a few years back. Is it just my imagination or haven't we seen a lot of him or his son lately either.
  21. Certainly beats having to drive at 20 mph everywhere
  22. All badly scarred from the experience I imagine
