  1. I am a big critic of JP, definitely saw him as a 1 in 5 player (sorry) but see Scot Twine as a step up, where Paterson failed, Twine will succeed in crafting openings on a regular basis where JP had his best games when he felt he had to prove something, like game at Wigan away after loan at Derby. Twine just needs to played his best position and has a coach that trusts him - ️ and️
  2. We've got the runners, they just need to know its worth making those runs..... they will now. Also that step over 2nd half that ran through to Tommy, chefs kiss moment but very subtle. The link up play that he will create, once the rest understand/trust him will see City become the best team I have ever seen. Even if it is only until the end of this season.
  3. Always recall Wellens saying he was sending Scot out on loan for his benefit and not keep him as backup for the team. Went to Newport, in the last year of his contract, so by the time he went back to Swindon and scored that wonder goal against Ipswich, live on Sky, there was no way he was staying and Swindon were relegated never to bounce back
  4. Good listen, brilliant to have Tins on, get the perspective from coaching staff point of view, balanced opinion from him and not club propaganda. Quite the coup as its not speculation but informed opinion regarding the squad. Fair play to Matt to give out 5's when Tins is listening, I'd have bottled it and given 7/10 minimum ??
  5. As someone who lives in West Swindon, this result is great. Regarding loans to Swindon, I wouldn't do it based on the experience that their fans will jump on any mistakes a City loanee makes, and I'm referencing both Kadji and Jonny Smith. They have to hide their jealousy because we don't even acknowledge them as a rival but it soon comes to the fore on any little failing City show/have, which is probably not conjusive to a player in his first taste of pro-level football.
  6. Really? Are you on the right forum. Love to ridicule plastics and tourists about their prem team but didn't realise they were here.
  7. Hope you don't mind but I had to send this quote to a mate, such a brilliantly funny statement ?
  8. Thanks, tbh I always assumed he was offered a reduced contract to what he was on.
  9. Cheers, I thought that would be the case but didn't consider signing on fee. If I'm honest I just assumed his pre-covid wage would be in excess of what the new offer would be and City wouldn't be entitled to receive compensation.
  10. Would compensation not be dependent on City offering a contract to the same value or better than present one? I think it was more important to get him out as soon as it was apparent he wasn't going to sign, so feel this has been a good deal for all parties but think it was more about saving on wages rather than compensation at end of contract.
  11. Well I can make that 2 of us.?
  12. Thanks, I wouldn't have known this. James Harding got hat-trick Saturday, so continuing where he left off.
  13. I went to Supermarine on Saturday, I go occasionally and that was the best I have ever seen them play. Normally its a boring and turgid watch but beer is cheap, so what can you do? Last Saturday was a good watch, obviously, due to a new look team. Normally, only player I look out for is George Dowling due to his City connections and he didn't seem as 'bulky', oh and getting a start for a change last week.
  14. In direct comparison to Sykes drag back and cross yesterday which developed a great opening, it was the bravery that was great to watch. Sykes was on ? at this point
  15. I went Saturday and thought City deserved something out of the game. Felt for the 1st time in years City kept the ball well, to the extent that I was surprised possession was in Hull's favour according to BBC for first half. I guess you sit and think, how come we got nothing, how come we didn't control for 90? I feel Pearson has to find James's replacement as he keeps it ticking over for a possession based team but not the intensity of a pressure based style. I'd rather see 'Dogs of War' in midfield like Joe Royles FA Cup winners, basic but honest. However, there was not one player who I thought shouldn't be playing and it was great to see the unity but feel we are in between high press and possession style team. How do you rectify this I don't know and that's why I pay to watch, rather than get paid a 6 figure salary to manage the team.
  16. Have to agree, remember his interview on 3Peaps and as soon as I understood he was being picked up from school in Taunton to go straight to training in Bristol, to stay overnight as a school boy for training at other times, having seen him score that goal against Millwall, I believed he was going to be our No.9. This is also City's reward for sticking with the Academy formula when people, like myself, thought we could spend the money on 1st team squad instead. (In fairness I was getting frustrated in the 3rd tier).
  17. Not long hopefully, seems he's the builder not the Winner. Just hope City keep the momentum of sacking Pearson at the right time going and appointing the right man....... oh, just seen the flaw in the proven plan
  18. Sorry the point I was trying to make is time being the prerequisite position, none have really been instant success. In fact they did their transfer business early pre-season but many "experts" were of the opinion they were not of Championship standard but allowing them to develop has seen them reap the rewards. The reason for pointing out the players was to emphasise the point on how they have turned it around. I am not an expert on City, so my Huddersfield knowledge is even more wanting ??
  19. * when he was recruited from Leeds
  20. I think the key to this is time, few have been instant success. Even Thomas's performances were being questioned October onwards, as Flash in pan. Sarr was dreadful last season up against Semenyo at their place. This season overall has been about the benefit of sticking with the philosophy, trusting the Head Coach and making a fast start this season. A lot were pointing out he wasn't brought in by Bielsa when results weren't going their way, now he will be a disciple again.
  21. I liked your suggestion on the podcast of move upstairs and use his experience to guide a young up and coming. I think we are back to where we were just before LJ started. Don't want it to be Fleming, Lowe is the obvious one but whoever it is, I don't want to hear about work/life balance, its all in or nothing. Sorry but don't hear other Championship Managers saying this. If you want that, your perogative but don't take this role on.
  22. Great episode and enjoy all the podcasts like OSIB, 3 peaps and Forever Bristol City. With this one felt Exiled Robin summed it up best, about the lack of obvious signs of improvement and why some are reacting like they are. Thanks to all 3 pods as they are all balanced and not hysterical in their observations, being audio it gives a better understanding of tone and discussion content. Often find the written reply can be lost in translation, quickly going off at a tangent and thread subject is soon forgotten....... now wait for Exiled Robin saying I didn't mean that ???
  23. Yes but in the same position CO'D would laid it off to the full back, don't shoot you don't score. FWIW, reckon where Janneh scored 1st goal, CO'D would have tried to dink it to the far post. For me SJ, must start on left of 3 on Saturday. Power and Pace will create opportunities and he should be rewarded for tonight's effort.
