  1. Steve has ploughed a lot of his “profits” from Hargreaves/Lansdown into Bristol City. Jon will inherit a lot of money, no doubt, but doesn’t have a money-making company of his own to keep ploughing further cash in. In essence he’ll instead be spending his inheritance on City. I’m not sure he wants to do that.
  2. I’m not sure it’s that he doesn’t trust Jon, but more than Jon doesn’t own enough shares in a business of his own that is making any money.
  3. He answered that point in his press conference.
  4. If it comes to that, their draw on Saturday will have cost them automatic promotion. That after being top all season
  5. Interesting that my take was the opposite. If you listen to the whole thing (half an hour) there were repeated questions about how he was dealing with it, so he had to answer those, but he said he wasn’t feeling sorry for himself and he wouldn’t hide from it. Soundbites without context don’t paint a very accurate picture. Welcome to the media,
  6. Exeter Chiefs are currently Premiership and European Champions. That tells you all you need to know about the difference between football and rugby.
  7. I hope he gets a loan move back to France in the next 48 hours. He needs to play football. He won’t here.
  8. I hope he plays with more enthusiasm than he speaks. Talk about dead pan in his interview. Never have the words “I’m delighted to be here” been delivered with less verve.
  9. There’s no way Mark Ashton will be appearing on the local media any time soon after the last flaming he got from Geoff on RB. He only appears a) when there’s good news b) he has to, like a change of manager or c) on Robins TV
  10. It’s down to sports rights. I believe Talksport own national radio rights for the EFL so they wouldn’t be happy if BBC local stations could broadcast nationwide.
  11. It’s an impossible job for any of them. They will never ever be critical of the club. It’s a propaganda outlet. They’re paid by the club after all. It’s why the radio Bristol alternative is so important, as is Gregor’s work with the Post. We need, and must protect impartiality.
  12. I fear this is largely irrelevant. Bristol must be close to being in Tier 3. I’m not sure any part of the country is going to make it into Tier 1 to start with.
