  1. Definitely a work in progress defensively. He seems to lack confidence in himself at times, going forward. I'd like to see him go past the defender on the outside more often (he is always offered the outside) and also it seems (perhaps I'm wrong) that he rarely gets all the way past a defender - just opens up enough space to ping the cross in. It would help him as others have said to have a fullback willing to make a run outside him.
  2. It's difficult though, as the (obvious) way to do that would be 3-5-2 which suits our defensive players but not so much our attacking ones.
  3. We need to be very careful not to burn Massengo out.
  4. I think he should, but I don't think LJ would even if he was here. I think his time here is up, which is a shame, as I think he's an asset. Palmer needs two runners in front of him, not one. Too easy to mark out Weimann on his own. Watkins, as you say, still has a part to play. He has the attributes and the work rate.
  5. I appreciate it's a poor run of form but can't help but feel they'll be worse off for this. Millwall fans seem happy about it though.
  6. Mason Bennett attended a Drinkaware event on the same day. Derby have deleted the page detailing this from their website, but if you Google "Mason Bennett Drinkaware" you will see the page existed.
  7. Patrick Hoban. Subsequently played for Oxford but best spells in Ireland for Dundalk. Keohane played for Exeter and also had spells in Ireland but now plays for Rochdale.
  8. Okay. Sorry my question upset you so much.
  9. They're just being an irritant/inconvenience. There's no need for it.
  10. They did not stop people entering the park, they just stopped them going in that particular entrance.
  11. @JulieH Why are there two officers on horses blocking one of the entrances to the park? Totally pointless.
  12. Co-op was pretty empty the last time I was in there. The dates on the crisps were fine though.
  13. Diedhiou will play if Afobe doesn't. Rowe won't be dropped either as he has done fairly well.
  14. I would argue that the gap between him and the midfield is less to do with him and more to do with the midfield sitting too deep - I think this will change with the new personnel we have. He'd have a lot more space to run into if he was playing on the shoulder of the defender rather than being asked to hold the ball up for others/win the ball in the air. It's also much harder to defend against - but he can't do this if he has to get closer to the midfield - for me some of our midfielders need to push up. I just can't agree with your comment on urgency - it seems to meet that there are times when Diedhiou is the only one pressing the opposition's back line - again I expect this to change with our new personnel and a change away from one up front.
  15. OTIB vastly underrates him. He's not a world beater, but he is adequate as a squad player at this level. Works hard and is versatile. Don't understand the hatred of him.
  16. Yes, he does all of those to some effect and obviously is scoring a decent number of goals at this level too. He's been asked to play here as the target man, but I think we'd get a lot more out of him if we played him on the shoulder of the defender (rather than with his back to goal), making runs into space or at the defence with his head up. Utilise his strengths in a different way. His unpredictability, his workrate, his aerial ability would all be more effective in my opinion. The problem is, it doesn't fit in the formation we've been playing during his time here, because he needs to be up front with someone who is going to take some of the physical toll from Championship defenders - Afobe, for example rather than Weimann. I think at times during Diedhiou's spell here we have had forwards who he could have formed a decent partnership with (Djuric, Taylor) but during that time he was played up front alone.
  17. And Diedhiou is still being asked to perform a role he is not suited to, and still got us a goal. He is not a target man. Doesn't matter that he's big. That's not his game.
  18. It depends if we're being realistic or if you'd accept any sort of mathematical possibility. On 19 April 2008 we played Stoke away and lost 2-1. If West Brom (1st 74pts) had lost and Hull (2nd 72pts) failed to win then either Stoke (3rd 72pts) or us (4th 71pts) could have gone top. Although we'd have needed a 30 goal swing. As it turns out Hull lost but WBA won.
  19. Neither. I probably read it more when we have no game though but post more around games.
  20. Prior to the home game against Wolves April 12th 2008 would be my best guess. We had a mathematical chance of going top if we'd won and results went our way (we didn't and they didn't). However, we'd only been knocked off of top spot by losing at Southampton the week before. That's be my best guess. I don't think we've got close since have we?
  21. I think Wolves would have recovered from that (admittedly I have nothing concrete to base that on).
