Ah so because we won a game which didn't really mean anything to us, I should be rushing to commit to spend another 1800? In the hope that maybe next season we'll win another meaningless game 5 nil.

You are forever quoting how much you spend and every time it's more than the last and it's now up to £1800.  Are you going into the Gents at Ashton Gate to powder your nose?

    Damn that inflation.

    Damn that 5-0

Well I’m sure they’ll all be glad now he’s gone, giving us nothing but mediocrity!

Can’t wait for all the exceptional progress and football we have to look forward to now Pearson won’t be holding us back!!

Yep - a couple of seasons of mediocrity saving our club from points deductions, potential relegation and fines because of the mismanagement of the owners that you so unconditionally support….:dunno:

Oh and developing on the pitch the best young player we’ve ever had, the money from which your also don’t dare criticise Liam Manning will be benefiting from….

Blimey- he did all that? Top bloke.

I bet Brian Tinnion , the owners and Richard Gould couldn't believe their luck.

  5. Marginally off topic but....

Are we still going to rename a stand after Nigel Pearson? I'm really concerned that it's just a matter of time before he's only remembered for a couple of seasons of mediocrity.

Fortunately the end of the season is fast approaching

Typical end of season game where nobody is interested and minds are on holidays

But 7 points from 9 and three clean sheets on the bounce are decent

Indeed- something that didn't happen in the entire 22/23 season. Although we did have some fair mini runs of wins and draws- none were clean sheets and we never got more than two wins in a row.

It’s funny I never heard anyone say the players weren’tPearson’s players, when he inherited Holden’s players.

That is the most breathtaking case of revisionist otib history .

Lansdown isn't the most trigger happy in the world by any stretch but..

I noticed Norwich today, yeah I know now losing but they are right in the hunt for the playoffs, 6th by a decent number of points but sides below with games in hand.

Erm we sacked NP when we were 15th albeit in the midst of an injury crisis but. This is a critique of the hierarchy moreso.

    1) Just around 4 months ago, Wagner was on the verge of the sack. Norwich fans had turned or were turning- they were in some shocking away form especially.

Their record from Rotherham Away to Watford Away, both verbatim and in general.

    P14W4D1L9F19A29Pts13GD-10

They were conceding a lot of chances too..a lot.

    Away

    P7W1D1L5F11A19Pts4GD-8

Had we won as we should that Sunday, that could have been it for Wagner. Who knows if they would now be 6th.

    2) Ryan Lowe, Preston. Flying start, surely hit buffers thereafter.

Unsure fans were happy, was he under pressure in December.

First 7 games they got 19 points, first 8 was 20. Thereafter?

    By New Year's Day.

    P18W4D3L11F18A38Pts15GD-20

    3) Coventry.

Robins, tasked with reaching playoffs again I would imagine. Two key players sold but £20-25m spent.

Three wins by early to mid November, 15 points from.15 and 16 from 16. Six behind us by 2nd International break.

Did Delia, Hemmings or Doug King push the panic button. No they didn't- unlike us with NP!! Arguably to varying degrees they have been rewarded.

    Let it go.

Given the constraints Nige had with bringing in new players, he had no choice but to build and mould a team that was all about passion/emotion/work ethic.

So what does this club do? Bring in a new guy who quickly strips us of our main strength and turns us into an absolute soft touch.

    Infuriating.

I couldn't stand Pulis (and SOD) more - but they failed at a lower level than Manning is. Maybe, if we were somehow getting relegated this season under another manager (post Pearson) Manning might be fine in League One with us. But he patently ain't at Championship level.

I don't hate the bloke, like some do, but he just isn't good enough (and I wonder if he'll ever be) to manage at Tier 2.

What I like about your thoughts, Robbo and those of Jimmo is that you both state it how it is without the ridiculous hysteria attached to so many others who seem so full of vindictive spite. Was it Manning's intention to fail so quickly? He was always a gamble and has had a few incredible moments but is not producing the results or even the performances that he should be.

It does appear ,however, that Jimmo is sadly bang on.

Comments about "the worst we've ever played" and "worst Manager ever" are mainly from people with the memory and attention span of a goldfish.  As to whether he'll ever be good enough is down to how long he's given ( in that it will prove his worth one way or another) but as things stand it's not looking too good for him.

Actually, Semenyo’s £9m transfer was in the 22-23 accounts recently announced.  All of it.

Scott’s £20m will be in 23-24 accounts when they are announced, and already alluded to go in the 22-23 accounts.  All of it

Payment terms are irrelevant for Profit and Loss (and therefore FFP)…they affect Cashflow.

Add-ons will be reflected into the year’s accounts in which they occur.

If Alex Scott has a £1m add-on for 20 apps and he hits 20 apps this year they will be in this year’s accounts.  If it happens next year, it will be in next year’s accounts.

So 23-24’s accounts should not be horrible!

Great news then- as I said, I think we're doing more right than wrong in respect of the financial side of the club thanks to the Lansdowns.

If the accounts are horrible after selling £35m of talent in the last 14 months then we really are doing something wrong.

Most deals of that size are not all up-front. There are also add ons which are often dependent on other factors.

If BCFC are doing something wrong then they are in good company with at least another 70 clubs who also fail to make a profit and continue to make a thumping loss.

It's ironic that you say we're doing something wrong having taken on two teenagers and sold them a  few years later for £35,000,000. I think that's doing something very right.
