  1. The POINT i'm making about you 'living in France ' is THAT country more than most others has been the scene of a lot of European carnage and knows the value of freedom. I would imagine the armistice is remembered by large numbers of your neighbors ? I was NOT having a side swipe at your credibility to have a point of view on this topic because of the fact you lived abroad , and even less a dig at the way you respect your family members! Then again i'm an idiot spouting ' hypocritical vitriol ' am i not ? I probably wasn't clear enough due to the fact i'm suffering from altitude sickness. up here on this 'high horse' but i can assure you i do understand the concept of free speech and i value the ability of everyone to exercise it .Happy now ?
  2. .....the irony of you living in FRANCE ( ?? ) of all places and taking this ' i'll wear it if i choose ' attitude is priceless ! Don't you think perhaps that efforts of your grandfather and four great uncles DEMANDS this tiny display of respect and appreciation from all of us , whether we are know someone that gave the ultimate sacrifice or not ?
  3. ....so that's what you want to do is it ?.....focus in on the inconclusive findings of the Saville report which took twelve years to compile and is generally regarded as being a witch hunt against British troops ....unbelievable ! The fact that this James McLean character wont wear a poppy because of his belief in a united Ireland is one thing but at the top of this thread you'll see it very quickly attracted the ' me too...' attitude of people just bemoaning the fact they feel societal bloody pressure to wear one. And in answer to your question 'how free is it.....' i can tell you now a lot MORE free than it bloody well would have been .
  4. Awhhhh bless....i'm soooo sorry these poor little footballers and the rest of you feel ' oppressed ' and ' pressured into showing some respect ONCE A YEAR ! .....and by the way, how the hell do you think you got to live in a ' free country ' if not for the sacrifice of others ?
  5. ...thanks for that Dave.....best laugh i've had in ages
  6. ...sorry i think i'm still getting over the thread title ' we want to play like Stoke.....' ( it's right up there on a list of phrases you never thought you'd hear.....like 'that's too much bacon....' or ' you don't appear to have charged me enough for this beer '... )
  7. ....and whilst they're pissing down your back they're telling you its raining !
  8. ....sorry ' China ' i'm gonna have to disagree with you there, I think this is an example of ' received wisdom ' if ever there was one.....are you saying it CAN'T work in the Championship or it just didn't work for US under Cotts ? the received wisdom Common knowledge that is held to be true, but may not be
  9. ....i REALLY want to believe this can't possibly be the way he does it....but would i bet against it ?
  10. Hallelujah !.....when are people gonna stop pretending that the sentiment exists that ANYBODY in football is prepared to relinquish anything they have for the benefit of somebody else ?! The 'Premier League ' has been in existence now for 25 years and is awash with NEW money that football could have only 'dreamed of ' prior to it's formation and aren't they a prime example of the 'trickle down' theory of economics eh ?
  11. ....good luck on finding THAT out !.....good post though. i assume we can all remember the fact that in our most ' productive' season for points in the last umpteen years we played a 352 under Cotts and guess what...it works !
  12. ...i don;t know about models of City players but i see they're making ones of Rovers fans (...their 'super power' is obviously the ability to bloody disappear as you can plainly see on any given Saturday )
  13. Wasn't it Dave 'Harry' Bassett that pointed out that his Sheffield Utd side only seemed to perform after christmas so the fans turned up at the first game of the season wearing Santa outfits ??....maybe he was onto something....right, next home game... BEFORE THE GAME i'll go and have my half time moan at the food kiosk staff for running out of pasties The Dolman early leavers can start streaming out after 10 mins instead of 80 ...come on there must be other things people can think of to inject a degree of urgency ?
  14. Went up on one of a fleet of 'dodgy double deckers' that braved the M4....party atmosphere from 'early o'clock' till well into the following day ( i think it's fair to say that ' drink had been taken' your honour ) God i hate getting old !.....can you lot please STOP bloody reminding me of the life i used to lead ....i just hope football fulfills the needs of this next generation of 'testosterone fueled' monkeys ....i DO feel sorry for you having to put up with football nowadays but on the plus side you're probably more informed about the game than we were ( i'm not sure bumping into the players in a boozer in town most Saturday nights after the game can be classed as 'informative' ) That game at Wembley , more than any other i can think of , proved that it didn't matter where we were in the football league pyramid ...this is a BIG club and i just hope to see the top flight AGAIN .
  15. do you call it a ' Jody ' when you leave an iron shot short of the green then ?......like when you have a ' Dennis ( Wise ) ' of a putt ( a nasty little five footer....)....just asking .
